How many books are on this list? 11!
Fatih wrote: "The Witchlands 5 is expected for a 2021 release"Got it. Fatih, I've seen you be very active lately and you've been catching things well. Have you considered becoming a Goodreads librarian yourself?
I noticed a number of the books on page 2 don't even have 2020 as a publishing date, can we go ahead and remove all those?
Danielle wrote: "I noticed a number of the books on page 2 don't even have 2020 as a publishing date, can we go ahead and remove all those?"Yes please, anything that has been given a later publishing date or has had their publishing date removed can be removed from the list.

You are a hero, thank you.
I see a lot of New adult titles here so I changed the name of the list and the description as some of you requested in the YA 2018 and YA 2017 lists. I hope that's a good compromise for everyone involved in the YA vs. NA conflict. Plus that way the list will get more voters. If someone has a problem with the way I managed this situation please express it politely and without personal attacks.
I have restored this list back to its original format. A Goodreads employee has already clarified these lists are not to be tampered with. These are Jasmine's lists, and I have restored the description back to how Jasmine had it originally.
Diana wrote: "I see a lot of New adult titles here so I changed the name of the list and the description as some of you requested in the YA 2018 and YA 2017 lists. Please do not change the topic/title of a list.
Jasmine, I'm honestly at a loss for what to do. These people do not even listen to Goodreads employees.
For anyone new to this list. There has been a discussion around what books should be allowed on this list. There was a description that said "Please don't add MG or NA, start another list for those." Many librarians acted on that legend and received attacks ad hominem in return. I reported those attacks and they are gone now.Rivka is a goodreads employee, by no means someone who should have an influence on how people see books. She's a part of the goodreads community like anybody else. She can revise comments and flags and attend reports, but it's not like she has read or will ever read the books on these lists.
She never said anything about not changing the list description. It was the list description what made this list misleading and prone to facilitate illegal activity.
I'll quote Rivka's here.
We have reviewed this list and the various flags and comments, and have determined that Sarah J. Maas’s and Tahereh Mafi's books may be added and should not be removed from YA lists, as they are widely considered to be YA by readers, and are also marketed as such. Though we understand the concerns raised about the content of the books, we believe that books may contain a wide variety of themes and still be considered part of a given genre, or may simultaneously fall within more than one genre at a time.
Did Rivka ever said that Sara J. Maas books aren't New adult? No, she said that she would allow them in the list because many people considered them YA and that they can fall in two or more categories.
Did Rivka ever said that the description of the list shouldn't change? No, she just said she would allow Mafi and Maas books because they are marketed as YA.
That doesn't mean the books aren't New adult. The new description of the list is honest. Jasmine has created these lists like thousands of other goodreads members have created lists but if something is wrong with those lists librarians can and should fix it. She's not an especial member or anything, she's a published author who created lists but as the lists are meant to be public they should comply to rules.
The title was wrong. Diana fixed it. If it was up to me it'd be the end of the story, but it won't last.

Isn't calling out librarians edit an attack ad honimem?
I received this email. The same rules should apply here.
Hi there,
We're reaching out because we've removed one of your comments from the YA Novels of 2019 discussion. Please note that calling out individual librarians' actions can be considered ad hominem attacks. We'd ask that you please refrain from posting content like this in the future.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to let us know.
Sincerely,
The Goodreads Team
What's good for the goose is good for the gander.
DianaCould you please consider other people's perspectives and not just Jasmine's? Jasmine's list as it was contributed to confuse goodreads members, not to mention illegal activity. She created these lists to be seen by the general public, if she doesn't want other's people's opinion she should create a shelf or a group or a private list elsewhere.
It seems to me you're acting with caution because these people have threatened you, but I ask you to keep changing the name of the list to fit the content of it. You can listen to Jasmine of course, her opinion counts, too, but take into account that lists should comply with FTC rules.

I'm literally speechless right now. Months and years of careful compilation were just erased. There was no controversy over any of those books, yet they were just deleted.I am just shocked. We have all spent so long on these lists. I have personally spent hours cultivating it, adding new releases as soon as they were listed on Publisher's Weekly, and all that has been undone in an instant.
Per the edit logs, 167 books were deleted from this list last night. There are librarians actively monitoring this list but if anyone needs additional help, feel free to post in Librarians Group for assistance.

I'm not sure why this has blown up all of a sudden, but is the 2019 list just gone?? The link is broken and sends you to a "page cannot be found" error message. As for the lines between YA/NA/Adult, instead of being offended that something with "explicit" content is placed on a list labeled as YA, people should just research the books themselves and decide whether or not to read them.
Yes, the 2019 list is gone. A rogue Librarian conducted a blitz attack last night and deleted every book from the 2019 list, thus causing the list itself to be deleted from Goodreads.Because it was Sunday night (it seems to have been pre-planned to take place when staff would be off), no one was able to intervene until it was too late. This list and the 2021 list were also heavily affected, but at least they still exist.
It should be possible to rebuild 2020 and 2021, but I think 2019 may be a lost cause. I'm still waiting to hear for sure, but I believe the deletions are irreversible, the log of what was deleted has also been deleted, and 2019 would have to be rebuilt from scratch.
You can read more about what happened in the comments of the 2018 list....

Yes, she changed the titles and descriptions of all the YA lists on Friday. And then the attack and deletions took place on Sunday night. She has lost her Librarian powers, thankfully.
Rainbowheart wrote: "Yes, she changed the titles and descriptions of all the YA lists on Friday. No one person should be able to single-handedly delete or irreparable modify whole lists with hundreds of entries without any recovery options...
I'm restoring this list back to its original format before it was altered on Friday by the Librarian in question. I'm also linking the new YA 2019 list, to replace the dead link above.
The new 2019 list is looking pretty good, but this one is still suffering from the events of last weekend. Almost all of the 286 people who voted previously ended up with their votes deleted.Has anyone been through the deletion log to see what exactly was removed from this list? I can probably do it if no one else has, but to save time and energy, I was wondering if anyone else has already checked. I believe there were 167 books deleted.
I wish there were a way to alert the prior voters of their now blank vote lists. I suppose we could message each one by commenting on their votes, but that seems a bit extreme, not to mention time consuming. I alerted my friends, but don't think I can spend hours trying to contact everyone else.

If I knew how to look up the books with the info that is in the log I'd be adding them back.
It looks like Daiane and Day have already added most of them back, but I'm not sure if there are any missing. It's a bit time consuming, but you can check. Basically what you have to do is copy and paste the book ID number at the end of this link, and it will take you to the book page.
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/
So for example, the Librarian change log shows "So-and-so updated a list: 42181944: book deleted."
You have to plug that number in at the end of the link, and it will show you what was removed.

Cool, thanks for the info

That's always been there, hasn't it? Multiple people had repeatedly flagged the prior rogue Librarian's deletions. The main issue was that all of our flags were ignored.
Possibly. I just checked right now, and everything looked the same to me. I'm glad it's there, but it would be much better to have someone actively monitoring the flags who is able to respond promptly.
Thanks for letting us know, Shannon! I moved USS Murphy over to the Middle Grade Novels of 2020 list. I also removed Into the Tall, Tall Grass. According to the author's Twitter account, this is MG.
