I just write and write until I have a draft, putting all the ideas I have into it. However, when I don't have an idea for a project, I kind of just have to wait until inspiration strikes again! Usually that means I need to travel. (less)

I posted this on twitter about a month ago, but I’ll reiterate it here. I made the decision to remove my Goodreads reviews (325!) and to no longer use the platform to track my reading.

It’s too easy, as an author, to see your own reviews on this site. That, coupled with anxiety over how to rate other authors work, knowing we may encounter one another someday at a conference ... means the fun of... Read more of this blog post »

“What we had might not be forever, but it was now, and it was everything I needed.”
Julia Ember, The Seafarer's Kiss

“A single twist of white-blonde hair blew across her face and stuck to her half-frozen lips. When she noticed me, the edges of her eyes crinkled as though she were smiling, as if she had been waiting.”
Julia Ember, The Seafarer's Kiss

“But that was before I’d met a human: before I’d seen the depth, intelligence, even empathy, in Ragna’s eyes; before I knew that humans spoke
the godstongue and smiled like starfish.”

Topics Mentioning This Author

“Tris: "I was reading."
Sandry: "You're always reading. The only way people can ever talk to you is to interrupt."
Tris: "Then maybe they shouldn't talk to me.”
Tamora Pierce, Briar's Book

“Some people see a magic trick and say, "Impossible!" They clap their hands, turn over their money, and forget about it ten minutes later. Other people ask how it worked. They go home, get into bed, toss and turn, wondering how it was done. It takes them a good night's sleep to forget all about it. And then there are the ones who stay awake, running through the trick again and again, looking for that skip in perception, the crack in the illusion that will explain how their eyes got duped; they're the kind who won't rest until they've mastered that little bit of mystery for themselves. I'm that kind.”
Leigh Bardugo, Six of Crows

“She is too fond of books, and it has turned her brain”
Louisa May Alcott, Work: A Story of Experience

“I don’t believe in guilty pleasures. If you fucking like something, like it. That’s what’s wrong with our generation: that residual punk rock guilt, like, “You’re not supposed to like that. That’s not fucking cool.” Don’t fucking think it’s not cool to like Britney Spears’ “Toxic.” It is cool to like Britney Spears’ “Toxic”! Why the fuck not? Fuck you! That’s who I am, goddamn it! That whole guilty pleasure thing is full of fucking shit.”
Dave Grohl

“Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.”
Dr. Seuss
