I’m Diana Urban, and I write dark, twisty thrillers for teens including All Your Twisted Secrets (HarperTeen, March 17th 2020). When I’m not torturing fictional characters, I’m a marketing manager at BookBub, a leading book discovery platform. where I regularly publish book marketing tips.

Outside the bookish world, I live with my husband and cat in Boston, and enjoy reading, yoga, fawning over cute animals, and looking at the beach from a safe distance.

It's easier to write before you start trying to get published—when suddenly it seems that every author (besides you) is getting a book deal, seemingly overnight. But that's not so! Here were my publishing stats before getting a deal for The Last Hour:

- 4 times on submission to publishers
- 3 literary agents
- 5 editor revise-and-resubmit (R&R) requests
- 120+ editor rejections
- 130+ agent rejections

For many authors, the road to publication was longer than it seemed. Of course, there are the lucky ones for whom it happens fast, but keep your eyes on your own paper! Every author's journey looks different. The important thing is to keep writing, keep honing your craft, keep learning and growing from CP feedback, keep learning about the publishing industry, and keep making friends in the community. And never give up on your dreams.(less)

Nameless Queen by Rebecca McLaughlin
"Okay real talk. I first read this manuscript back in 2015, when I mentored Rebecca during PitchWars. AND I STILL THINK ABOUT THIS WORLD ALL THE TIME. Seriously, building a class system around names -- and lack thereof -- is such a fresh and origin..." Read more of this review »

Her Pretty Face by Robyn Harding
"The writing was not very strong (super repetitive, overuse of adjectives) but the story was interesting and compelling enough1 that I raced through this book in 2 days to find out what was going to happen. "
" You're the best, thanks so much for taking care of this so quickly, Emily! :-) "
All Your Twisted Secrets by Diana Urban
"With mystery layered on intrigue layered on suspense, Urban delivers a fast-paced, unforgettable escape room thriller--a gripping debut.

The Gravity of Us a delightful novel about dreaming big and loving fiercely. Cal and Leon’s relationship was heartfelt and real, and I loved how their romance was uniquely set to the backdrop of *both* a NASA and a reality TV show setting. This book ...more
