Lori is an avid writer, reader, artist, and lover of unicorns. She should probably spend less time on the internet (but she won't). She has a borderline obsessive fascination with unicorns, is fond of talking in capslock, and loves to write about magic, manipulation, and family. She lives in Wisconsin with her husband, kids, and a friendly pitbull.

If you asked me what superpower I'd want, it would probably be time control :) But Gates of Thread and Stone doesn't necessarily have time TRAVEL. There is manipulation of time, and travel is certainly a possibility, but there are restrictions to what Kai is capable of doing and rules that she can't violate ;)(less)

Lori M. Lee, Gates of Thread and Stone

“Humans find unity in chaos, purpose in war, honor in battle. It is their curse that they cannot flourish without conflict.”
Lori M. Lee, The Infinite

“But I understood why people would want to believe in those sorts of things—they made the world feel less lonely. And you never knew what a person could do fueled by hope.”
Lori M. Lee, Gates of Thread and Stone

“Happy Hunger Games! And may the odds be ever in your favor.”
Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games

“Everywhere I go I'm asked if I think the university stifles writers. My opinion is that they don't stifle enough of them. There's many a best-seller that could have been prevented by a good teacher.”
Flannery O'Connor

“He kissed me gently. 'Lieutenant Malachi Sokol, reporting for duty, Captain.'
'What?'
'I've been assigned to your field unit,' he whispered as he nuzzled my neck. Oh, man. Heaven. Help. Me. 'I'm afraid I'm already being shockingly insubordinate.”
Sarah Fine, Sanctum

“Some people can’t keep fighting. Some people want to escape. Some people are not ready—are not able—to find a way to deal with what’s in front of them. Sometimes there’s no one to help them. Sometimes they don’t know how to ask for help. Sometimes it feels like there’s no choice but to end it. No other way out. And sometimes it’s impossible to see past that.”
Sarah Fine, Sanctum

“I missed you every hour. And you know what the worst part was? It caught me completely by surprise. I'd catch myself just walking around to find you, not for any reason, just out of habit, because I'd seen something that I wanted to tell you about or because I wanted to hear your voice. And then I'd realize that you weren't there anymore, and every time, every single time, it was like having the wind knocked out of me. I've risked my life for you. I've walked half the length of Ravka for you, and I'd do it again and again and again just to be with you, just to starve with you and freeze with you and hear you complain about hard cheese every day. So don't tell me why we don't belong together," he said fiercely.”
Leigh Bardugo, Shadow and Bone
