Intisar Khanani grew up a nomad and world traveler. Born in Wisconsin, she has lived in five different states as well as in Jeddah on the coast of the Red Sea. She currently resides in Cincinnati, Ohio, with her husband and two young daughters. Prior to publishing her novels, Intisar worked as a public health consultant on projects relating to infant mortality and minority health, which was as close as she could get to saving the world. Now she focuses her time on her two passions: raising her family and writing fantasy.

Intisar is the author of the Dauntless Path books (Thorn, The Theft of Sunlight), and her indie epic fantasy series, The Sunbolt Chronicles.

I am so so sorry for not responding sooner--I only just saw your question today. :/ I am definitely still working on Memories of Ash. I had to take from about March through August off due to family matters (my little daughter just needed some helping getting through a tough patch). I am back at work on revisions now, and hopefully I'll have a more firm release date soon! I'm really excited to be following Hitomi's story again. I won't give up till I've told all her story. (And hopefully I won't give up at all!) Thank you so much for your note. Stories are my greatest love as well. :)(less)

Hi Megan!

I am so thrilled that you enjoyed The Bone Knife ... and I'm not surprised that you're a little confused about my plans. I'm a little confused myself! :)

My original plan had been to release a companion novel to Thorn featuring Rae. When I set off to write that novel, it turned into three novels of variable length. That seemed okay too. But when I went to revise the novels, I hit a wall. I spent about six months making almost no headway before I switched over to working on Sunbolt. I love Rae, and I love what I have of her novel(s). I'm currently working on the sequel to Sunbolt, and after that I'm planning to come back to Rae.

The truth is that, although I had the drafts of her story, I didn't feel that I had quite found the heart of her story yet. And without that, it just wasn't working. Rae has been talking to me for two years straight now, just little conversations now and then at the back of my head, little scenes that change a little bit here and a little bit there, and I think I'm almost ready to dive back in and give it another try. You can follow my author newsletter via my website to get more updates--or always just check in with me here!

I do promise that I am planning to give her Rae her due. I just have to be able to get it right.

Happy holidays!

Not too bad for a fantasy, I definitely want to finish the series. I expected most of the twists but the largest one came out of nowhere which I enjoyed. Part of the reason I knew about the original Grimms brother story on the goose girl and Falad" Read more of this review »
