At the end of The Vanishing Stair it says this book will apparently be called The Hand on the Wall??

Whatever the name is, I'm bitter that I have to wait till next year to read it after yet another cliffhanger. The life of a reader is not a fair one.

note to self: never start a mystery series ever again until the series is complete ever again.

*meanwhile has 154512 mystery books that are 1st in a new series*

also: they know we suffer already so they put higher prices on books that are last in a series.

This *BLEEPING* CLIFFHANGER! 2020 are you BLEEPING KIDDING ME?!!!! It’s so good it hurts. Literally stayed up to finish it and this is what I get? Instead of sleeping peacefully I’m going to go full on Stevie mode and try and solve it before the book comes out. Wish me luck that I somehow don’t die in the third book too. You know what I despise is that there is still so much that hasn’t been answered and I have to wait a YEAR! Okay yeah I know the process is long and tedious to write such a good ...more

It was nice to get some closure! I still think this series could have been condensed into two books.

I loved it. I don’t know how Maureen Johnson keeps throwing twists like this, but I’m happy with the way things concluded

OH MY GOD. I’m shaken to my core. I will never be the same. This series. Wow. Such a fabulous conclusion. RTC.

I inhaled this book. I was so excited to see how it all would end and whodoneit, sleep be damned. There is little I can say without spoilers, but this story is woven together beautifully toward the final conclusion with all secrets come to light. I did not even suspect the murderer in past or present and as a reader, that is greatly satisfying. My otp couple in this book got their satisfying conclusion as well, so that was fun. The book was fast paced, fascinating, inventive, and fun. Trapped in ...more

I have a small quibble about political creep (my pet peeve), but otherwise loved the conclusion to a series that was a solid hit for me. Johnson really set up that climax well, and I finally found out how the present day and past murders were connected.
