150 books? I bow to you!

Ambur Jessica wrote: "150 books? I bow to you!"

haha I'm gonnna try! We'll see if I actually get there. :P

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah, I had a goal of 50 last year, didn't reach it. So the obvious thing to do was raise my goal to 80 books this year. I think part of me is either being highly optimistic with this challenge this year or highly sarcastic with myself. Not quiet sure yet.

message 4: by Ambur (new)

Ambur I managed to read 141 books this year, so I thought I'd be optimistic and reach a bit higher. haha Well, maybe it'll get you to push yourself. :D

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah so far I've read 2 books, one of which was a children's book, so at the moment I'm highly cocky. We'll see how cocky I am at the end of the month, lol.

message 6: by Ambur (new)

Ambur Haha very nice! I haven't even finished one yet. :p

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh in yo face, lol. JK. I have no doubt you will soon be at least 20 books ahead of me. ;)

message 8: by Ambur (new)

Ambur Haha maybe. I've started the year off with a slump so hopefully I can kick it soon...if not I'll just keep watching Doctor Who. :p

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

I get out of my slumps by randomly selecting a book from my shelf and reading a little from it. Like a sentence or two. If it doesn't catch me that fast then I pick a different book and keep doing that until I find myself sitting on the floor several chapters in. :)

message 10: by Ambur (new)

Ambur That's a good tip! I might have to try that! I think I got into it because the first book I picked up during my Christmas break just really didn't hook me...or maybe I just needed a brain break after finishing a semester of school. :P haha

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

A brain book is always nice to have. When do you return to school?

message 12: by Ambur (new)

Ambur Haha yup! I wish it could go on forever...back on Monday :p so not ready haha

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

How much longer before you're completely finished?

message 14: by Ambur (new)

Ambur I've got one semester left and then I'm finished my undergraduate degree. Then I plan to take an after degree program, but I'm not sure how long it'll take. You kind of finish it at your own pace.

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

Not too shabby. Just noticed what your first book read for this year was. How was it? I have the series on my computer.

message 16: by Ambur (new)

Ambur It was fantastic. :D I absolutely loved it, and I've loved every book in the series so far. The characters have awesome banter, and it's definitely a sexy series...with a sex addict as one of the main characters that's kind of a given though I guess. ;) haha

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

That's what caught my interest on this series, that both the hero and heroine had addictions. That's pretty unique to me. Glad to here you enjoyed it, you're one of the few people I listen to with books, lol.

message 18: by Ambur (new)

Ambur Ya, it's definitely unique. I even read a book that had the exact same title as the first book in this series (I read them right around the same time, too!), and it was about a girl sex addict...and yet this one was still completely different from the other. This series is just so intense, and I like that the characters battle their addictions (or don't rather at times) in a very realistic way. Plus, the characters are just so real...I could see them being hard to like in person, but in a book...it works. haha

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

lol, I know a lot of books where it's like that. I'd totally count them off in real life but as book characters, most of the time they work for me. It's weird how that happens.

What are you reading now?

message 20: by Ambur (new)

Ambur It's definitely weird, but I guess that's how it is. :P

Shaken Not Stirred by Alyssa Rose Ivy...I caught a cold though, so reading isn't happening much right now. My head's too fuzzy. :S

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

ugh, I HATE when that happens. Being fuzzy headed sucks major balls. Hopefully you get better soon though!

I haven't heard of that book so I'll have to see what it's about. :)

message 22: by Ambur (new)

Ambur It really does! I'm hoping getting sick (you know before it shows up :P) was the reason for my reading slump, too...then when I get better, it just might be gone. Fingers crossed! I hope so. I think I have what my mom had and it took her about a week, so it could be worse I guess. :P

It's not bad so far, and I'm loving the banter between characters. :)

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

Do you have any vitamin C drops or regular vitamin C tablets? If you do than you can take one or two of those and it will help make you get better faster. My sis-in-law practically forces the stuff down everyones throat the second she hears someone might be sick or getting sick, lol.

message 24: by Ambur (new)

Ambur I'll have to try that. I have a bunch of the halls vitamin c drops so I'll have to start eating them more. I had one this morning and it did help but I also had some tea for nasal congestion and a cold pill, so they probably all worked together. :)

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

Feeling any better?

message 26: by Ambur (new)

Ambur Starting to! :D I'm still pretty congested, so I wake up with that nasty dry, sore throat, but I'm not feeling too bad today. A bit tired, but I figure if I go to bed nice and early that should help, and I've been eating lots of vitamin c's haha

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

lol, see it works! Hopefully you wake up un-congested in the morning. :)

message 28: by Ambur (new)

Ambur Oh, I hope so!!! :P I can tell I'm getting better, so at least there's that. haha

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

Alright. I demand that you feel 100% today! No more blahness!

message 30: by Ambur (new)

Ambur Haha I wish it worked that way! I'm almost there tho, but I work today so I won't get much reading done anyway. :p haha

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

Booo! Where do you work?

message 32: by Ambur (new)

Ambur At a German store, I work in the deli part. :)

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

Mmmm, sounds like it smells good.

message 34: by Ambur (new)

Ambur It does smell pretty good...except when we slice smelly cheese. :p

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

lol, yeah, I think that would kill the yummy smells. Oh, speaking of slicing smelly cheese, did you see my fb post a few weeks back when I cut my finger cutting a piece of cheese. It sucks, I couldn't say I did it in a cool way. Nope. I cut the cheese and cut my finger. *sighs*

message 36: by Ambur (new)

Ambur It's not fun at all. :P I did! Hopefully your finger is feeling better! haha It's okay, I've cut my finger on a meat slicer before...now that's not fun. And I've cut my finger on a knife before...once while cleaning the knife. Thankfully it was only like papercut deep!

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey, paper cuts hurt though, lol.

So how are you feeling? Any better?

message 38: by Ambur (new)

Ambur They sure can, especially in the bendy spots of your fingers!

Eh...still not 100 %, but definitely better. I went all day without cold medicine today, and I'm still alive, so that's an improvement!

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

Lord woman. Hurry up and get to being 100%.

message 40: by Ambur (new)

Ambur Haha well today I feel fantastic! So I think I have beaten the evil cold virus!! :p

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

Sweet!

message 42: by Zoë (new)

Zoë Danielle is it bad I keep checking your challenge for "where I should be if I was as awesome as Ambur" update?

message 43: by Ambur (new)

Ambur bahaha that's funny, but not bad! I haven't read too much in the past bit because of essays and midterms, but hopefully we can both keep reading more. :D

message 44: by [deleted user] (new)

14 books in 2 months isn't too shabby Miss Ambur. :p

message 45: by Ambur (new)

Ambur That's true, Jess! :) I think I feel like it isn't much because I didn't really read at all last week. Lol :p

message 46: by Zoë (new)

Zoë Danielle Haha it's 14 in 1 and a half months actually, ;) And yup hopefully we can both keep reading lots, I am totally behind on my challenge already, but hopefully if we keep reading awesome books for our readalong I will just devour them!

message 47: by Ambur (new)

Ambur I think that's why I feel like it's not enough. Haha goodreads keeps telling me I'm behind, too. :p that's what I'm hoping for, too, Zoë! :D If we keep picking good books we'll keep wanting to devour them. :D

message 48: by [deleted user] (last edited Feb 16, 2014 11:17PM) (new)

I didn't get to read any books all week either, and I had one that "needed" to be reviewed. I didn't receive it for review purposes but I had won an advance copy of it from another reviewer but family came to town and I spent the week with my nieces and nephews and baking a cake for the nephews 6th birthday, which was on Valentine's Day. So now I'm all, "I'm sooooo behind!!!" even though goodreads insists that I'm ahead of schedule. . . I don't know, lol. It just doesn't feel like enough.

message 49: by [deleted user] (new)

Random fact: I just checked my goodreads challenge button and you are only 1 book ahead of me. Okay, now I feel better because I seriously thought I was at 6 or something, lol.

message 50: by Ambur (new)

Ambur Well at least you had a good week with family and I bet your cake was awesome! :) I had midterms and essays due :p not so fun. Haha well done!!!
