Sara | 123 comments 1/1/2020: Here we go!!

/31/2020: End of the first quarter. Up until a few weeks ago, everything was normal. Now we are living in self isolation during a plague. It's wild. It's also caused me to struggle with reading books that are overly serious. Although, since all sports are cancelled, I'm finding a fair amount of new reading time. Also, the Olympics-themed prompts are kind of sad now, since they have been postponed to next year. Anyway, I am currently at 12/40 and 5/10. My favorite read for the first quarter was definitely The Girl with the Louding Voice. It was absolutely spectacular. Here's hoping that by my next quarterly check-in, things are a little less horrifying out there.

/30/2020: Halfway through at 17/40; 8/10. At this rate, I feel pretty comfortable about finishing early, but, sometimes those last few books are a real chore, just because the harder prompts get pushed to the end. I can't say this year has been very good so far, in fact, it's been pretty terrible. We're living through a pandemic, everything's been cancelled, my salary has been cut, and my mom died (leukemia). I suppose things could still get worse, but, ugh...

/30/2020: End of the second quarter, halfway through the year and it really does keep getting worse. There's still a pandemic, which is probably about to get a lot worse, my salary is still low, my mom is still dead, but now we're also actively fighting racial injustice and this past weekend the president of the United States "accidentally" retweeted and praised a video where people were chanting "white power". So that's where we live now. It's literally horrible. But, in between mourning and marching, I'm getting a lot of reading done. I'm currently at 28/40; 8/10. I've already read over 52 books total for the year, which is incredible. I read some amazing classic books this quarter. Wuthering Heights, Double Indemnity, He Knew He Was Right, Gilgamesh: A New English Version. But I think my favorite book this quarter was The Secret History. I just enjoyed every moment of it. Now, let's see what else 2020 has in store ...

/12/2020: I just finished the Advanced prompts. I'm not sure I can even pick a favorite, some of these were just so good. But I think Wuthering Heights was probably the one I enjoyed the most.

/30/2020: End of the third quarter and I have only 12 books left to go. I can definitely finish before the end of the year, but next year, I'm going to need to do less reading challenges. I am currently at 33/40, 10/10. My favorite book that I read this quarter was The Space Between Worlds.

/29/2020: Today I finished the challenge! The last prompt I finished was a book with a bird on the cover. I think that my favorite book of this last quarter was Boyfriend Material. I need more romances like this, please!

/40; 10/10
