More of Chanel's books…
“That’s the thing about death—even when you think someone is gone, glimpses of them remain in those they loved and left behind.”
Chanel Cleeton, Next Year in Havana

“Life is too short to be unhappy, to play it safe. To do what is expected of you rather than follow your heart”
Chanel Cleeton, Next Year in Havana

“To be in exile is to have the things you love most in the world - the air you breathe, the earth you walk upon - taken from you. They exist on the other side of a wall - there and not - unaltered by time and circumstance, preserved in a perfect memory in a land of dreams.”
Chanel Cleeton, Next Year in Havana

“How is it possible to miss a woman whom you kept at a distance, so that when she was gone you would not miss her?”
Steve Martin, Shopgirl

“Only then does he realize what he has done to Mirabelle, how wanting a square inch of her and not all of her has damaged them both, and how he cannot justify his actions except that, well, it was life.”
Steve Martin, Shopgirl

“It's hard being left behind. (...) It's hard to be the one who stays.”
Audrey Niffenegger, The Time Traveler's Wife

“Long ago, men went to sea, and women waited for them, standing on the edge of the water, scanning the horizon for the tiny ship. Now I wait for Henry. He vanishes unwillingly, without warning. I wait for him. Each moment that I wait feels like a year, an eternity. Each moment is as slow and transparent as glass. Through each moment I can see infinite moments lined up, waiting. Why has he gone where I cannot follow?”
Audrey Niffenegger, The Time Traveler's Wife

“I go to sleep alone, and wake up alone. I take walks. I work until I'm tired. I watch the wind play with the trash that's been under the snow all winter. Everything seems simple until you think about it. Why is love intensified by abscence?”
Audrey Niffenegger, The Time Traveler's Wife
