Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Casey McQuiston RED, WHITE & ROYAL BLUE was born out of a time in my life when I was following the 2016 presidential campaign closely while also reading two books at …moreRED, WHITE & ROYAL BLUE was born out of a time in my life when I was following the 2016 presidential campaign closely while also reading two books at the same time: THE ROYAL WE and Carl Bernstein's Hillary Clinton biography. I had these two characters in my head that I really wanted to write: a subversion of the bland Prince Charming archetype who just passes himself off as milquetoast to hide things going on under the surface, and a rebellious First Kid who both love politics and is political nightmare for their presidential parent.

And then one day, as I was driving to work, it hit me: if I made those two characters fall in love with each other, I could tell both of their stories in one book. And here we are!(less)
