Might be that the original publication date is not filled in?

If you don't get a response on this one soon, go to the librarian's thread and list it there. You need a super-librarian for this (meaning a GR employee, not just a humble volunteer like me.)

October of 2021 is well within the time frame, so you should be able, but these lists don't get much assistance unless we make noise. I recommend you go to the librarian's thread and report this, and be sure to include the ISBN number. Sadly, we volunteer librarians don't have the capability, so you need a GR employee to fix this.

Nobody’s forcing you to look at contemporary lists or to comment there.
It’s not the first list (neither the second) I found some kind of negative, even borderline inappropriate comments from you that have absolutely nothing to do with the list content nor it’s theme and by now I am extremely tempted to flag all future ones so GR employees can decide if we have to bear with those.

I mean "On Reading the Old Books" was what convinced me, and it was a modern book.

Distrust is fair. But I still interact with everyone I distrust. I just judge them based on those whom I trust.

Well yes, that too. It is hard to filter your own era without the clarity of classics for a lens. But gems we do have in our own era. The Road, for instance, I didn't just love, but needed the year my father passed.

If they were written in another language in a different decade, it doesn't count. You can post some examples, and I will double check for you.

Under the genre, it should say something like this:
243 pages, Hardcover
First published April 26, 2022

If it doesn't have first published, I can add it.

Ah, I think that those books don't have a "first published", because it's the first edition anyway. That might be the reason.

So here is the list [()=first published]:

Bov Bjerg: Serpentinen (31.1.2020)
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...

Emilienne Malfatto: Que sur toi se lamente le Tigre (3.9.2020)
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...

Stéphanie Coste: Le passeur (07.01.2021)
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6...

Katharina Döbler: Dein ist das Reich (3.5.2021)
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...

Marie Gamillscheg: Aufruhr der Meerestiere (8.3.2022)
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6...

Annie Ernaux: Le jeune homme (5.5.2022)
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6...

Christoph Keller: Afrika fluten (11.10.2023)
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

Thea Mengeler: Nach den Fähren (28.2.2024)
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Davide Coppo: La parte sbagliata (2.5.2024)
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Clemens J. Setz: Das All im eigenen Fell (12.8.2024)
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Charles Lewinsky: Täuschend echt (23.10.2024)
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Marion Poschmann: Die Winterschwimmerin (1.1.2025)
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Kurt Prödel: Klapper (30.1.2025)

It's an ongoing problem, and one that can only be dealt with by the superlibrarians on the "Librarians" thread. It frustrates me, too.

It seems they need to have a "first published" date - which is often missing on recent books, because published and first published are identical.

Glitch. It takes a superlibrarian (i.e., paid Goodreads staff as opposed to a volunteer like me) to fix it. They may see it here, but failing that, find the librarians' thread and report the issue.
