The Battle of Maldon belongs on this list, but how to get it there ?

I pretended it was written in 1090 in order to get it on there. (I guess no one knows the precise year.)
Same issues, in other words, as with the other "best books of distant past centuries" lists. Avicenna ("Metaphysics of Healing"/"Canon of Medicine"), "Beowulf" (oldest known copy), Su Shi's poetry, "Rubaiyat" of Omar Khayyam (according to Wikipedia, written some time after 1048), the Domesday Book, Anselm of Canterbury's writings, and the early writings of Peter Abelard ... :(

If all we know is "11th century" or that degree of impreciseness, you can't put "11th century into the record. You have to input a numerical value.
I.e., you can fudge this field for Listopia purposes, but it's kind of detracting from the actual accuracy of the data on Goodreads.
"Go into the records" --How ? I was immediately accepted as a librarian but I don't know where to get cyber-instructions.
1. Anyone, librarian or not, can join the Goodreads Librarians Group and request that a record be changed or edited. Here is the group:http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/2...
2. Thom, if you are a librarian then you had to click a box saying that you had read the Librarian Manual. If you didn't read it and don't know how to do certain things, you shouldn't be editing records. If you do know what you're doing, there is an "edit" button for each book/edition of book in the upper right hand corner of the box that contains the book data such as # of reviews, publisher, # pages, etc. If you aren't sure whether you know what you're doing, it doesn't hurt to join the Librarians group and just read a bunch of posts to see what other librarians are discussing. It's quite helpful.
This whole "not published...etc." business is ridiculous. Would it work it we went to "XI" century ?
HMMM...Just noticed this list was started by "Unknown"....Wasn't that the Greek guy who killed the Cyclops ?And: What is the PLURAL of Cyclops ?
Actually Thom the guy who killed the Cyclops was "Ούτις" (nobody). As to the plural... Cyclopes maybe?
Which books are "not published" for you, Thom? It's easy enough to change the original publication date (the most bizarre one I changed I think was Twilight, which for some reason had a first publication date in the 1300s!).On books this far back, getting a reasonable date can be hard, as well.

Together we can outskirt the cybergeeks.
John wrote: "So frustrating! Several books to add, but all are "not published in this this century", acc. to GR."Which are the books you'd like to add and when were they actually first published (contrary to what GR currently shows)? Librarians can edit the publication data; there should be some evidence of a given book's actual/approximate date of first publication for such edits to be made, though.
