Just some stuff I found:Faust:
Goethe completed a preliminary version of Part One in 1806. The 1808 publication was followed by the revised 1828–29 edition, which was the last to be edited by Goethe himself. Prior to these appeared a partial printing in 1790 of Faust, a Fragment.
So, something came out in the 1800s.
Lyrical Ballards, according to Wikipedia, did in fact first appear in 1798.
Rameau's Nephew, or the Second Satire first published 1805. Written between 1761-1772.
Logic by Immanuel Kant - listed on wikipedia as published 1800.
Jerusalem by William Blake - "The poem, which was produced between 1804 and 1820, consists of 100 etched and illustrated plates"
Wikipedia puts Quo Vadis' pub date as 1895.
"Pharaoh (Polish: Faraon) is the fourth and last major novel by the Polish writer Bolesław Prus (1847–1912). Composed over a year's time in 1894–95, it was the sole historical novel by an author who had earlier disapproved of historical novels on the ground that they inevitably distort history."
"With Fire and Sword (Polish: Ogniem i mieczem) is a historical novel by the Polish author Henryk Sienkiewicz, published in 1884."
Right, I'll also remove the ones written by people not born in or before 1800-1809.
Yes, 1798 is the correct date for Lyrical Ballads.I've also seen 1800 as the date for Kant's Logic. Not sure which is correct.
William Blake started publishing Jerusalem in 1804.
Ok, I've removed Quo Vadis, Fararon & With Fire and Sword - all of which were written by people born after 1809.re: "Diderot died in the 1780s, so I wouldn't think he would qualify."
First publication, though, appears to be 1805.
Sorry about editing and re-editing my posts with new information. :) I didn't want 12 posts in a row just of me, and instead I ended up editing my post while the thread actually turned active. oops.
K wrote: "Not sure how the hobbit snuck on here, but it's over a hundred years early"Removed, along with that user's other vote "The Tale of Peter Rabbit."
Susanna - Censored by GoodReads wrote: "Yes, 1798 is the correct date for Lyrical Ballads."I removed it. By Wordsworth.
There is another 1800s list I saw - perhaps it can be merged into this one? https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/7...

I know Wells book doesn't belong on the list, but there are others which appear to not belong but which I am not familiar enough with to eliminate:
According to the book linked on Goodreads:
Faust by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe - 1829
Lyrical Ballads by William Wordsworth, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Michael Schmidt - 1798
Rameau's Nephew and D'Alembert's Dream by Denis Diderot - 1761
Logic by Immanuel Kant - 1799
Jerusalem by William Blake - 1820
Quo Vadis by Henryk Sienkiewicz - 1894
Faraon by Bolesław Prus - 1897
With Fire and Sword (The Trilogy #1) by Henryk Sienkiewicz - 1884
