- Books MUST be a Young adult novel that follows YALSA definition of Young adult books.
- No Spam
Any books with Protagonists that aren't teens and with adult content will be removed of this list.
Kindly inform on the comments if there are any inaccuracies or changes of publication date.
Feel free to add books to help fellow Young adult readers find YA books. Thank you!
This list is about True Young adult books. It's not for books marketed as YA that don't follow the commonly accepted definition of the genre: Teen MC. No erotic content
IMPORTANT: Check the comment section because people are spamming the list with books that don't follow the List rules. I'll have books with more than 5 spamming votes removed.
To vote for books marketed as Young adult books but featuring College-aged characters and explicit sexual scenes vote YA 2019 (admits New adult books marketed as YA and books with explicit sex )
According to the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), YA books are those aimed at kids aged 12 to 18 years. In most (if not all cases), the protagonists of the novels fall within those age ranges, and the story is told through teenage eyes.
Don't merge my list with the lists that allow New Adult books. I'll eventually have New Adult titles removed.

I'm asking Mizuki who voted here and is a librarian to removePriory of orange Page 2 #141 (shelved as adult)
Ninth House is Page 2 # ?? MC is 20 Years old and it's shelved as NA
Kiss quotient Page 6 #532 (shelved as adult)
Birth of Chaos Page 9 # 809 because it's a 2018 release.
I'd say we shouldn't abuse Mizuki's time, so anyone requesting a removal make sure to ask politely and add the page number and the rank number to make it the removals easy.

I read reviews saying Legacy of Orisha 1 is rather mature in content but not in a pornographic way. White stag is a Wattpad book and I think it doesn't follow the rules as it is now, but there's the possibility that after editing and revision the story will follow Miss Bektra's rules. What do you think Miss Bektra?

I think right now we should focus in adding all books listed as YA 2019. Eventually, as reviews pour in, I'll have the New Adult titles removed.
Note: Feel free to add MG with 12-18 years-old MC's.
King of Scars (#6) Ninth House (#503) are New adult books. The Gilded Wolves (#13) is according to the author Upper YA so it's probably NA. Wicked Saints (#35) is currently pitched as appealing to Bardugo's fans so it might be New adult.
Can you please remove Chilling Effect? It's been confirmed by the author that it's an adult novel, not YA.
On Page 3 Queen of Ruin, Bloodleaf, and a Curse so Dark is Lonely might be new adult because the content.
Thank you everyone for your votes and feedback. At the moment we're collecting data of all the books that will be published in 2019 as YA. As many of you pointed out, a few (out of more than nine hundred titles) don't follow the rules of the list:Characters aren't 12-18:
Edit 12-05-19
Edit 12-26-19 Rosebud, Fiona Hardy (MC is 11)
Edit 12-26-19 The Red Scrolls of Magic (originally intended as adult, Explicit content) https://ew.com/article/2016/05/26/cas...
Not marketed for teens:
edit 12-05-19
Publication date isn't 2019
12-05-18 Reverie, Ryan La Sala (2020)
12-21-18
12-26-18 #PhoenixFireBook
I'll have those titles removed soon. Please vote for those books in other lists.
Other titles were brought to my attention. Some might be closer to a new adult/adult classification than a young adult categorization. As many authors are still in the editing/revision stages of publication, I'll need back up information (A review, an extract, an author's interview, a tweet, etc) before removing any of the titles in the following list:
Legacy of Orisha
White Stag
Again But Better
The Gilded Wolves
Wicked Saints
Soul In The Darkness
Queen of Ruin
Bloodleaf
A Curse so Dark and Lonely
Chilling effect

I'm going to read the reviews once the books are published and then make a decision. In the meantime, I would be grateful if you could kindly provide me with information: How old are the MC's? Adult content?
Can you please consider Evermore as a YA 2019 release? https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3... Publication date says Dec 31st, but it's a January 2019 release.

(Please no one attack me, either)
I agree with you. I'm just using age as a parameter for this list as it is part of YALSA definition of YA and what in my personal opinion is YA:
According to the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), YA books are those aimed at kids aged 12 to 18 years. In most (if not all cases), the protagonists of the novels fall within those age ranges, and the story is told through teenage eyes.
But I respect your opinion.
I'm adding a new rule against spam voters.People who have only voted for one book that doesn't follow the rules (Vortex Visions, Descendant of the Crane among other books that spam their way to the top 100): I notice you're spamming several lists with your votes. I'm going to have those books removed from this list, soon.
EDIT★✮ 11-28-18 and 12-19-18★✮
To remove soon:
Descendant of the Crane (Spammer votes, Game of Thrones content?) removed 11-28-19 added again by a non-spammer
If I'm missing some books with a lot of spam votes, could you please let me know?
Note: If the books follow the rulesof the list voters can add them back, or I'll add them back myself.

Sure.
Could you please check page 8? There's 29 dates (2018) Red, White and Royal Blue (New adult) Last Girl Lied To (Probably adult)

Has anyone else noticed that more YA books feature characters outside of that age range? Like, into their mid-twenties?

I don't know why you keep removing Descendant of the Crane. There is no erotic content, and the main character is 17.

I wasn't here, but it was removed by someone who obviously wanted to give more visibility to the list that promotes New adult titles as YA. I'm not complaining, just let's abandon the pretense that literary agencies and publishers aren't interested and actively participating in these lists by sending people to vote in them and to acquire librarian status.
