Fellow librarians: there are some titles I'd like to vote for that are showing up here as not published this year. I should know this but I don't. As an example: This I Know, by Eldonna Edwards. I click on the title, go to the page where it's listed and it shows up as having been published in April. If the date on the page was incorrect (and if I was damn sure of myself) I could probably change it, but what do I do if it's got the correct pub date, but I cannot vote for it? Thanks for any help.

You are the only one that will add these titles (or not). Go to the top of the list and click the tab that says "Add books to this list". You'll be offered the choice of using your drop down menu of books read to click on and add, or if you don't want to go through a lot of titles to get there, you can choose a particular shelf, or you can type the name of the book into the window on the right; assuming these books are somewhere in your goodreads collection, they should show up and you can click the link to add them to the list.

I've been on GR for a few years but I've never participated in Listopia. This year I read a book by a new author that has really stuck with me. I loved it. It was published this year in March by a new author. But, when I tried to add it here it keeps saying it was NOT published this year. I would appreciate any help on this. Maybe this isn't the right place? Maybe you can only add books that are published in paperback?
Here is the book and author if someone who knows better how this works cares to check it out and explain to me how this works.

Another list I fell for. I read what is now rated the third best of the year: "Woman in the Window". It's Alfred Hitchcock's "Rear Window" but with a woman suffering from agorophobia instead of a man in a wheel chair. I know there is nothing new under the sun, but plot point by plot point it's the SAME story. At least Hitchcock provided us with the Glorious Grace Kelly in Vogue cover fashions! Come on, readers, get real.

First of all, to goodreads in general, these list should NEVER have "Best" in the title. "Favorites" is fine. But for anyone to say something is the best of the year, well, they have to have read everything! Or at least a little of all genres published. Or have read at least 100 books of any given year. Any list could be titled, "Another Pointless List Which Within a Year Will Include 99% of Every Book Ever Published Except the Great Ones I've read." Just watch, eventually Hunger Games and Twilight will be on top of this list.

Oh, and anything Hanna writes wins awards at the end of the year on goodreads. She could publish say, 'Charlottesville Virginia's Nazis and How I Love Them and Hope Hitler is Resurrected" and people would love it, give it five stars, and write reviews before it was ever even published. It's like that follow-up to Twilight that was never, ever even finished or published, it was the same story from from the guy vampire's point of view. It has 125,000 ratings. BUT IT WAS NEVER PUBLISHED!!! Okay, so why do I bother? It's fun, like watching "I love Lucy" reruns. Silly, silly, fun.

I mean no harm, I know all lists are completely subjective, and I also know that I read very little contemporary literature. That said, I have read 5 of the top 200!!! To three of them I gave a huge 2 star rating, to one of them I gave a 3-star rating (James Lee Burke's Roubicheaux) and to the book at #3 (which will win Best Mystery) , I gave a 1-star rating because it is 99% Cornell Woolrich's 1942 novella, "Rear Window", but not as good. Hannah will win Best Novel, of course. And, actually, I sorta liked "Nightengale" but was so frustrated she never broke into song with "Climb Every Mountain". Oh, and King will win best horror. And the book with the hottest, semi-naked guy will win best romance. Whatever gal comedian who is the most famous will win Best Humor. Yes, I can predict the future, but alas, not lottery numbers.

You are funny, but there is a lot of truth in humor.
I would love for the book I put up to come in somewhere that it gets the notice I think it deserves. It is an adult contemporary romance with a bit of suspense, crime and intrigue. Oh, and a dash of humor. From the books you listed that you read this year it doesn't sound like something you would read. But, if you feel the urge, please do so. I was really impressed by this writer. And it is her very first book! Ever!! You can easily tell through her writing that she takes this craft seriously.
