I was doing an alliteration challenge last year and, if I'd just finished reading a "DD" title, then sure enough... next month, I'd stumble upon another book that looked good. But could I find an "EE"? Nope.
Wow...that would be tough, I looked around and could only find Eighty-Eight Steps to September or LOL Evening Exercises for the Closet: For Every Day in the Year. by William Jay ......or how about Ellie Ever.Of course finding a title and finding the book to read is totally different. :D

Ha, ha...good idea, doing the author! I found Elizabeth Eulberg or if there's no page limit...I love The Hundred Dresses by Eleanor EstesWow, I could NEVER do that challenge! And in order too? Tough. How far did you get?!
Nope, no page limit. Yeah, I was tempted to read East of Eden, I was getting so desperate. LOL! Thanks goodness I found that author, as E of E is way too angsty for me, if I remember correctly from HS.I made it all the way from A-Z, by the skin of my teeth, and only because the Tower Teams Reading Challenge ended and I could focus on it. This year we are going back in the other direction, from Z-A. Luckily, I had 'tagged' books and made private notes as to why they work for the challenge, so I'm doing much, much better this year. Yay!

What is the hardest reading challenge you've ever done, Marla?
The challenge that kicked my #$%>! was The Next Best Book Club's Shelf-a-thon Challenge. You had 3 months to read books that were on 350 specific GoodReads shelves. It took me 4 tries to get all 350 shelves (yes, that was one year!). The pathetic thing was that was my first challenge (and 2nd and 3rd and 4th)! LOL
How about you? Please tell me the Alliteration challenge was your toughest.
I would have to say that it and the Lifetime in Books challenge I doing are tied. I was in such a bad mood over the Alteration Challenge, because I didn't realize it had to be done in order when I signed-up. (I should have read the fine print. ☺) I had to let go of that grudge.
With the Lifetime in Books I just keep getting older and older, so then more years get tacked on. Plus, just when I was getting near the end, I figure out that there is actually two extra books over your age, as one book is for the year you are born and the other is the current year, if you haven't reached your birthday (mine is in September).
It is a timed challenge and I started September, 2011. And I didn't knock out the early publications like I should have; now I'm having to scramble a bit for them.
However, I have only 7 books to go! Yay. Needless to say, I'm finding shorter and shorter books to read for that one. **hee hee**
What groups were those challenges with? I'm afraid! Yikes, you are obviously not a quitter! So good for you, but sometimes you just have to say... I hated a year long challenge that I started last fall, so I bowed out when I stopped having fun. And a challenge that I intended to do 2-4 books each month, I changed to just 1 per month and 12 books and I'm reading the last 2 now and that challenge will be put to bed too.
So LOL now I'm only down to 4 monthly year long challenges plus my shorter ones and finish-when-you-can ones...I think I'm down to 25 current challenges...but I reuse books where I can.

Question for you on the "reuse." Do you have fun trying to see which book fits into the most challenges before you select a book to read, or do you just go for it and read what you want, then see where they fit?
Oh you know me well, I look around at my challenges and try to pick books that will fit multiple challenges and that I feel like reading (cuz I go through phases and it takes me FOREVER to read something that I'm not feeling). And I think I look at it that way because of that original Shelf-a-thon challenge where you were always trying to maximize your reading. But I usually have at least 1 book in progress that I just feel like reading and hopefully it will fit in a challenge somewhere. I'm very creatively squeezing in most of my reads into a "holiday" read for this challenge.
How about you, how do you pick your books? I think you read more than I do, I read around 10 books a month.

That sounds like what I do. For some of the challenges I try and find a book that will definitely work in multiple challenges; however, I went through a period where I was just reading for challenges, BOMs, or "buddy reads" and not having fun. Therefore, I now make sure I'm doing one just to fit my mood (I'm a very moody reader).Yes, I read a lot. Before I joined GRs I was reading about 300/year, but now I'm lucky to get 200/year. This is because of Mod duties. Of course, now I've slowed down because I'm trying to get my house ready to put on the market. Alas, that pack-rat's garage of mine is killing my reading time. LOL!

Thanks, Barb. I wanted to put it on the market this April. But, I'm too lazy. Luckily my BFF comes over every Friday and we work on the garage. I really, really couldn't do it without her. I'm going to have to hire someone to bring the stuff down from the attic, though. Ugh.
