This wasn't at all what I expected, and not in a good way.

The beginning of the book was ok. I wasn't loving Jesika or Derek, but they we ok. They are both single parents (Jesika because her husband died, and Derek because Emma's mom left right after she was born). The transition from heartbroken widow to "hot for the fireman" was abrupt, and left me feeling like I had missed something.

Then came the drama. But, for me, it wasn't good drama - it was like watching a soap opera. Secret love children, affaires, crazy exes, lies, over the top trama, tons of hard to believe coincidences. Heck, at one point I was waiting for Jesika's husband to turn up again.

On top of that, I found the writing to be unclear. One thing would be said, and then it would immediately be contradicted. It left me WTFing several times.

As the story progressed, I found all the character to be less likable. Derek was some weird combo fire fighter, drummer for a rock band, super dad (not sure how he managed to do all that). Both of the kids totally left the story in the second half - Jesika and Derek seem to have unlimited kid-free time together - and they are barely mentioned in passing.

Really, nothing about it worked for me.

Five Funny Fantastic Sensational Stars. I friggin loved this book. It was funny, sexy, romantic, realistic, emotional and absolutely wonderful.

Jesika is a young widow who is just trying to move on with her life, ie move forward.

Unless you lived it, you have no idea the pain that is involved in losing someone you love, let alone your spouse and the father of your child.

She is doing a pretty good job considering, I mean she has a son, Jaxon, but outside of that there is no one else until she comes face to face with Derek. She has seen him before, after all he has a daughter that goes to the same school as Jaxon. OMG Derek, what is not to love about this man? He is sexy, charming, romantic, a firefighter, as well as a drummer and most importantly, single ;0) I mean what the hell is not to love about all THAT! I think everyone would like to have a Derek.

He's the kind of guy you want to take your time devouring just so you can memorize every square inch of his body.

Obviously these two have a pull to each other and things take off for them especially with the help of Mallory, who is Jesika's best friend. I instantly fell in love with her as well. She's the type of best friend every girl wants. Always there for you whether you were sad or just to make you laugh.

The horniness you are hoarding seriously just rolls off of you. (LOL)

Then there is Seth the lead singer of the band and also Derek's brother.

This is a story about love, loss, living, taking chances, learning how to tell the truth and trying to understand the lies. In the end just learning to move forward.

Derek and Jesika have a love and relationship like no other but she is scared and with very good reason. Never fear though because Derek is the ultimate hero.

I will always protect you. I will always put the safety of your heart above everything else.....just know there is no word that could every fully grasp what I feel for you.
oh my~swooooon!!!

Ms. Taylor had me hooked from the prologue and my emotions were on high alert, tested continuously throughout the book and never letting up for a minute. Erika Taylor did a great job and I highly recommend this one:0) Some more of my favorite quotes

Life is too short. It's not a never-ending party.

Sometimes you have to take a step back to move forward.

I will say if it wasn't for the Epilogue I might have wanted to strangle Erika ;0) lol Go get your read on NOW!! Can't wait for Mallory's and Seth's story!! Well done Erika, well done!! Not that it matters but I am not the fastest reader out there and I read this awesome book in two days!!

I was given an ARC by the author for an honest review.

4.5 AMAZEBALLS STARS

WOW! First and foremost let me tell you that when I start a book it generally takes me a few pages before I actually start feeling the emotion from the characters while I'm getting to know them. Not in this case. I felt the emotion from the first page. Moving Forward is a story about exactly that... Moving Forward. Learning to live again. Ms. Erika Taylor definitely took my emotions on one crazy ride from start to finish. This story felt realistic to me. There was no sugar coating topics and the issues that the characters were dealing with are very much real.

Jesika is a widowed mother trying to pick up the pieces of her life after losing her husband. Derek is a hot piece of a…. I mean Derek is a .Firefighter and a Drummer in a band, raising a child on his own. I felt the connection between them instantly. I loved that while I felt the instantaneous connection nothing about Derek and Jesika felt rushed. And holy hot sex scenes, Batman! The sex scenes between these two were on fiyah! And of course it wouldn’t be a good book if there wasn’t any twists and turns in their relationship. There were plenty of those but not too many that it took away from the realism of the story. The twists and turns had me feeling anger and that heart wrenching pain that only sorrow can bring. Their were times where I felt extreme elation and was laughing out loud. I can not express enough how much I loved this story.

The supporting characters didn’t just feel like supporting characters to me. I feel like without them this story wouldn’t make me feel what I feel for it. I almost felt like I was in their minds as well even though I wasn’t reading from their POV. I’m anxious to read about the other characters in this series. So I will be impatiently waiting for their stories. *ahem* I already feel like I’ve waited too long. I definitely have to say that Erika Taylor nailed it with her debut novel. I can’t wait to see what she has to bring us in the future. I’m hoping MANY more stories.

I really did smack my forehead with this one! I had NO FREAKING CLUE that there was a rock band in the book and the "main" guy was Drummer/Firefighter ~ seriously how much more can one woman take, I was already...........................................................

I have to preface my review by saying that this will be a little out of the ordinary for me as I have a guest reviewer by my side tagging along so ladies without further adieu meet............................

yep, Tarzan! My little side kick and an inside joke that some people will get. In all seriousness though I was given an ARC of Moving Forward in exchange for an honest review. The story opens with Jake's thoughts, more like regrets, while he is on his way home of a Boomer Sooner (Heck yes I'm an Okie) game with this wife Jesika. He has taken her out to show her a perfect time and to try and show her how much he truly loves her before his world comes crashing down, sadly this became literally true and I was left.................................

Jesika has been widowed for a year and not really living her life. If it wasn't for her son Jaxon and BFF Mallory she wouldn't survived the past year or the debilitating grief following the horrific car accident that ripped Jake from her life but she's starting to emerge form her shell much to the relief of Mallory. Now Mallory will literally have you..................................................

Well it's that dreaded day at Jaxon's school ~ any parent knows the one where parents come in a talk about their careers but of course this is being delivered to a room of 6 year olds. Jesika has delivered her "brush em brush em brush em" speech when she looks up and into the most amazing pair of blue eyes staring at her all decked out in his firefighting gear and she literally.................................

She really did that thinking she wasn't really moving forward as she thought she was. I have to say I probably would've had more of this type of reaction....................................................

this is our first introduction to the sexy as sin, Derek. Who proves just how special he truly is when he finds her sitting on the steps outside the school and sits down next to her to ensure she is okay. She is amazed that this gorgeous specimen is actually taking the time to make sure she was okay and that he appears to really truly care. They strike up a conversation and the "sparks" fly immediately. Enough that Jesika feels more alive than she had since Jake died.

You are in for a treat with this one since we also get the story from Derek's POV so we know his thoughts about his little chat with Jesika. Derek's daughter, Emma, is also in Jaxon's class so of course he was at the school to talk about firefighting with all the excited little ones. He has had a from a far crush on her for quite awhile and knows more about her than he lets on. We also find out that he just happens to be apart of her favorite local band The Rifters along with his hot arse brother lead singer and ultimate ladies man Seth. Well Jesika doesn't know that, yet. Mallory was finally able to get Jesika to "live it up" and when she realizes just "who" is pounding that delicious beat of the drums you know this is going to get good and fast. Oh yes, I was totally..........................................

the things that fly out of our mouth at the most inappropriate times. I swear most of this book had me cracking up with the interaction between Mallory & Jesika and then some of the beginning of Jesika & Derek's relationship but don't think this was all just a barrel of laughs, oh no, there was WAY more to that and just when everything is smooth sailing a little secret from the past that affects more than one life "pops" up and had me.......................................

this little secret will also make you ..............................

after a torturous time a part Jesika & Derek come together in a way that only two people with such chemistry can. Oh yes, they totally...

Moving Forward has some very steamy parts I mean parts that will make you squirm but I digress. It also seems Derek has something he knew about but didn't tell Jesika that will have you.....................

I agreed with Jesika at this part I would've been fuming pissed too and who is standing beside her through it all? Well Mallory she is the ultimate BFF (psst the second book is hers). Things seem to happen for a reason and Derek isn't going to let his Jesika go no way ~ yep he was MIA but for a little bit but for a very good reason and when you read who he was with you will totally do what I did............

again I was lulled in a false sense of security when a bomb is dropped albeit a good one it was dropped but what happened and Derek's reaction had me.....................................................

I was seriously thinking this wasn't going to turn out well and you will have to read the book to determine what I'm referring to but I will tell you this when I read the last couple paragraphs I was....

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Then I totally................................

Moving Forward is a very funny, sweet, sexy story about moving forward from devastating grief and realizing that what you thought you might have had before pales in comparison to what you end up with. I spent a good chunk of time giggling at Mallory's antics and good part of the time with my heartbreaking for Jesika. Derek is the ULTIMATE man who shows Jesika how much she means to him with his actions and ladies if your single and find a man like that grab hold and don't let go.

Tarzan & I loved this book! We can't wait for the next book especially with the way Erika left us at the end of Moving Forward ~ of course, that was all good with T since he's used to "hanging" but me I LOVED the ending it was absolute perfection and oh what an opening the next book will be. I recommend you grab this one as soon as possible you will immediately get drawn in and you will spend a majority of time with tears streaming down your cheeks from laughing and the other parts of it from the emotional turmoil that Erika puts you through! It was ACA-AWESOME :) Solid 5 stars for me and I have a feeling the next one will very well blow me away!

4.5 laugh out loud and then BAM! heart pounding stars.

~Given an ARC copy by the author for an honest review~

Erika Taylor's debut novel is sure to be a hit!

Moving Forward has all the emotional investments I crave in a good story.

I was choked up right from the beginning, then I got pissed and wanted to punch a certain someone, which was quickly followed by angst and then a gut rolling humor. Of course the one emotion missing from all of this which I certainly can't do without in a romance is the butterflies in my chest. I get the all clenching good ache. This did eventually show up and it was so worth the wait. I'm talking up-against-a-brick-wall wait and so damn worth it!

And then, the sex........WHEW!!! Talk about "burnin love. There's one particular scene where the sheets literally could have caught fire and I don't think either Jesika or Derek would have known, they were that caught up in the moment. It was beautiful!

In addition to being humorous and emotional this book touches on a deeply personal issue that so many suffer the loss of. Losing a spouse cannot be an easy subject to breach, in any way, but Erika has managed to portray this story from a different perspective than any I've read before. I loved the opening of this book in so many ways and I truly think it gives the reader a certain scope that is bound to make you want to know more.

On top of two very steamy leading characters, you'll meet Mallory, Jesika's bestie; Seth, Derek's older brother and Nick, Derek's co-worker and friend. These supporting characters help bring the story together and give it a situational element that I adored!

I can't wait to see what else Erika can bring us! I'll be (not so patiently) waiting for Book #2 in the Timing is Everything series.

p.s. Moving Forward, the story itself, is NOT a cliffhanger!

I'm so excited Moving Forward is finally here I feel like I've had to wait for forever to meet the sexy schmexy drummer fireman Derek...he can put out my fire any day!

I LOVED every flipping page! First, I loved Jesika and Mallory; they were both witty and sarcastic
but they were there for each other no matter. When they needed each other the other was there ASAP and without question. Second Derek was holy shit hot and sexy! And him and Jesika together makes your lady parts tingle!...we had some of this...

and this...

but most of all we have a beautiful story about two adults who thought their world ended when they lost their
significant others. We have a story of seeing why things didn't work out with others because someone more perfect was waiting for you. We have secrets, mysteries, twists and turns that still have me guessing and we have amazing secondary characters (Jesika's BFF Mallory and Derek's brother Seth) who's story is due out later this year and one I can not wait to read!!!

*This review was done by Kim, who is part of our guest reviewing team*

Wow, for starters, this was a well defined story from several characters point of view. After the Prologue, I just fell apart. The Prologue was the beginning of total heartache, secrets and lies. The beginning of a story that makes any person question the life they are living and if they are living it to the fullest. Live your life now because you don't know what life will bring you tomorrow. 4.5 stars.

"Moving Forward" is a journey through the death of a loved one and trying to continue coping, living and hoping to feel whole again. Jesika was left to mourn the loss of her husband and keep herself together for her sons sake. She is constantly battling moving forward and letting go. Jesika believed Jake was the only true love she would ever know. That was until Derek walked into her life. Of course Derek is a hottie firefighter who is a drummer in his spare time. YUMMY!

"He has been my refuge, my safe harbor, my potter and so much more."

This story has a cast of characters that are well defined and they lead us through many twist and turns that has heads spinning. Secrets and lies that are revealed has Jesika wondering who her dead husband was and if what they had was real.

Of course no story is complete without a BFF! And Mallory is the best there is. She brings so much entertainment and fun to this story. And the end just leads us to the continuation into the next book about Mallory...... I can't wait.....DRAMA! DRAMA! DRAMA!

The only thing I do wish was that there had been a little more about Jake. But other than that, this book is a MUST READ!

Congrats Erika Taylor on a great debut novel, job well done!

Moving Forward by Erika Taylor is about a young widowed single mother, Jesika who meets love again with sexy firefighter/band member Derek. Seriously like Derek is PERFECT!

Moving Forward started off grabbing my full attention. The book is done in both Derek and Jesika’s POV but the Prologue is in Jake’s POV, Jesika’s deceased husband. Jake talks about the night he is killed in a car accident and how much he loves his wife but does not deserve her. I thought it was very touching. It made me want to dive into the book even more so. Then the story picks up a year later. Jesika is finally starting to live her life again, even going out with friends. While at a school event for her sun she meets fellow single parent Derek. It is “LIKE at first sight”. I love that the characters did not suddenly fall in love, they just had a deep attraction to one another and “liked each other” very quickly as they referred to it. The two begin to date and eventually the book skips ahead to about three months later where their relationship is really starting to pick up.

Everything is going wonderful, their children get along with one another, and they do things together like a family. I know something big is about to happen, things are just too perfect… Derek is an amazing perfect guy. He is not only hot with a capital H-O-T but he is a firefighter AND a drummer in a band plus he is amazing with Jeskia, like a dream boyfriend. I know something has to happen between the two and soon. Finally secrets of Jake’s past begin to surface and Derek knows a lot more than he is telling Jesika. Jesika starts to learn what her dead husband was really like and her not so perfect marriage was really not perfect at all. I honestly was a bit disappointed with the Jake storyline, I think the author could have made that part of the story a lot more dramatic… even now I still do not know the truth about Jake and Victoria and what else Jake was into behind Jesika’s back. The author mentions Jake had a lot of money and how weird it seemed but no explanation was given. I think it could have made an amazing back story. It was a little bit of a letdown.

The story changes time very quickly, one moment you are reading about their first date next page it is three months later and the author describes events that occurred during the time instead of letting us read the events as they occur. I enjoyed it at times because the story did not drag at all but other times I was looking forward to reading about their relationship and interactions. Jesika and Derek do not have sex right away but once they do, it’s like ALL they do… like rabbits I tell ya! Some scenes were pretty steamy but I did think a time or two “Enough already! Get on with the book!”.

I think the first half of the book was really good and had potential to be amazing. It could have been real deep and emotional but then I felt the story took a different path and was more romance/erotica then an emotional read. I think Erika Taylor is a great writer I just didn’t particularly care for how the story changed from how it started.

I loved the best friend character Mallory, she was HILARIOUS! She was a joy to read about and I can honestly say this is the first time I am glad the second book in the series is about a minor character because Mallory was my favorite! Plus the author leads up to book two in a big way and left me wanting more. I don’t think I have ever been left on a cliff like this for a book two involving different characters but I am super excited for Mallory and Seth’s story.

I really enjoyed the book, it was a good, quick weekend read. Like I said I preferred the first half over the second but Ms. Taylor writes a good story about falling in love again after losing someone who you thought would always be there for you but isn’t.

I give Moving Forward 3.5 Stars.

Moving Forward is Author Erika Taylor’s Debut Novel , and let me tell you it is one heck of a FANTASTIC debit novel.

Right from the Prologue in Jake’s POV, I was pulled right in . Your left wondering what he is hiding and then BAM , he is gone just like that .

Jesika is a sweet, caring, loving, single mom who just lost her husband Jake in an accident . She goes through the motions everyday with a fake smile on her face working to keep herself together for her son .Her Best friend Mallory is there to help her every step of the way , everyday .

About a year after Jake Dies , Jesika is going to Jax’s school for career day , and while there she see’s a man in a firefighter suit and loses it and runs out of the classroom and goes out to sit on the stairs to collect her emotions . That’s When she meets Derek . There is an instant connection with him and she is able to calm her emotions down just by sitting beside Derek. They chat for a little bit and then go their separate ways .

"Staying away from her has been damn near impossible. I feel drawn to her like there's a force field of energy that has been pulling me into her life."

Derek , Firefighter by day , drummer in a band by night The Rifters ( which is also Jesika’s favorite local band) and a single dad …. Swoon material 100% . He is sexy, hot, compassionate, caring and everything every girl is looking for in a man . He had noticed Jesika Long before she noticed him that day at school on Career day . He has been in the background watching her for over a year now .

“I'm done holding back, just because she probably isn't ready for any sort of relationship doesn't mean I can't get to know her. For some insane reason, I feel like I can help pull her the rest of way through. I can show her how to keep moving forward by just being there for her.”

The next time these two meet up Jesika discovers Derek on the stage at the concert for a local band they like as their drummer . After chatting for a few minutes , Derek can’t let her just walk away and asks her to go out with him the next night for dinner. She says Yes of course .

"It's not that Derek brought me out of that depression I had found myself in, but he helped me pull myself the rest of the way out. he made me want to give this crazy thing we call life my full attention again. Take Chances, love a little, free fall, take a leap of faith, put yourself out there for the chance of getting it ripped to shreds. Put your heart on the line with hopes that someone won't leave it there to wither away."

They start to build a relationship and they discover that they have a lot in common with each other and very similar likes . They seem to be building a great relationship together .

We discover though that Derek is keeping secrets , he is trying his hardest to find the right time to tell her and not lose everything they have built together so far. Then one day their pasts come back to haunt them both. Can they work through what has come crashing down on them ? Will the feelings and love they feel for each other be enough to get them through it all ?

There are a few twists, turns, loneness, and happiness . Can they get through it all together ? Did fate step in to bring these two together when they would need each other the most?

"There's so much I want to share with you Jesika, so much. If you'll just let me"

There is a Happy ending , although you will shed some tears before you get to it , But I will say this those tears are surely worth it in the end.

I can not wait for the story to unfold between Mallory (Jesika’s BF and Seth (The lead singer in the band and also Derek’s Brother)

We get a little taste of these two after the epilogue and are left wanting a lot more . I was not expecting what Erika Throws at us in the Mallory Chapter . I was like NO WAY GET OUTTA TOWN !!!! Look for No Going Back in the Fall of 2013

“Sometimes you have to take a step back to move forward."

~ Three years ago, I had thought I lost my whole world, but it all actuality I was saved. Saved from death and a life full of lies. Three years ago fate stepped in. ~

Single Dad, Fireman and Drummer Derek has watched Jesika from afar for a while, both their children attend the same school and are in the same class.

"Did someone call for a firefighter?"

Derek
description

Darek has always wondered what would of been if things were different.
Over the last year he has sat back and watched Jesika grieve for her husband.
Derek's feelings haven't changed and lately he has noticed a change in Jes that leaves him with a glimmer of hope that maybe, if he's patient, there could be a future for them.

Jesika Reynolds’ heart was left broken one year ago when her husband died, leaving her and her son alone in this world. Slowly, she started putting the pieces back together of her life. Knowing that she may never open herself up to love again. That was until the day Derek came into the picture.

Jesika

As Jes and Derek's chemistry grows they both start to fall hard. But the past holds secrets that connects them in more ways than one.

I didn't see the twists coming at all! Crazy.
I was thinking it was going to be something else. I was way off.

The sex was smoking hot!
The dry hump scene… Umm WOW hot!

This is such a sweet story of Love, loss, friendship and family and moving on with a love life after dealing with life shattering events such as loosing the love of your life and finding your place in love's realm again.

There is an honesty to the way this story played out.
There isn't a major lot of Angst, which I loved.
Sometimes its just so way over done. It's nice when people can communicate.

Malory is hilarious!! I think I'm going to love her story so much!!
I think she was my Favourite character with all her funny random words.
(Twat Waffle ) hahaha

+ 4 stars +

But it.
Read it.
Love it.

4 stars!!

This story is about Jesika, she is a widow with a son called Jaxon, she is trying to Move Forward..get on with her life, try and actually get a life whilst putting her son first, he is her life and her world. She has not had a relationship since her husband died, just worked and looked after Jaxon. Whilst attending Jaxon’s school for a parent job’s day she bumps into Derek..she has seen him before in the playground as he has a daughter but she never really knew anything about him, apart from the fact that he has made things twitch in her that have not twitched for a long time.

Derek is a fire fighter and a drummer wow, what is not to like?? He is totally gorgeous (of course), romantic, is a single parent and idolises his daughter and he is single… Jesika is a bit reluctant to do anything about this potential liaison but with a bit of gentle persuasion from her best friend Mallory (who is an absolute hoot by the way) she ventures into the world of dating…with Derek.

There are lots of ups and downs, secrets revealed, trust issues etc the usual angst that accompanies a new relationship and an interesting read, but this story is about two people learning to love again, learning to trust, learning to live and gradually Moving Forward together, but it isn’t easy.

This book has some truly heart stoppingly romantic times that had me melting, but there were loads of times I was laughing my head off normally involving Mallory and Seth (who is Derek’s brother and band mate)..I can’t wait for book 2 which is Mallory and Seth’s story.

This is a book for us hopeless romantics that like a good case of swoon every now and again, loved it!

I really enjoyed this book. It wasn't anything epic, but a good story about moving forward and not letting the past consume you.

Sometimes you have to take a step back to move forward

I really enjoy all the characters in this book. Jesika is very likable and you will absolutely love her. Jesika loses the love of her life (so she thinks) and finds it extremely hard to move forward in her love life, until she meets HOT firefighter Derek (Oh he also plays the drums in a band). She is completely drawn to this gorgeous stranger and she needs to find out why.

I thought the book was well written and it kept my interest till the very end. The book ends with a cliffhanger, but not with Jesika and Derek....

"A Fireman, a Drummer and a Super hero walk into a bar ....
... yeah, there's no punch line, that's just a fantasy of mine"

I adapted that from a picture that hit my Facebook news feed a little while ago. If you can relate, then Moving Forward is a book you may want to pick up.

Let me introduce Derek Jordan, fireman, drummer, single dad and genuine nice guy. Light brown hair, ice blue eyes, model good looks and did I mention he's a fireman and a drummer?? Derek has watched Jesika from afar for a while, not in a crazy stalker kind of way, but in the "oh my god she's beautiful and wouldn't you know it married" kind of way. Respectful and reverant is probably how I would describe the way he has been aware of Jesika and his interest in her. A first hand encounter, in less than ideal circumstances, only adds to Derek's feelings and leaves him with a glimmer of hope that maybe, if he's patient, there could be a future for them.

Jesika Reynolds, a loving mother and wife, completely devoted to her husband Jake and son Jaxon is devastated when Jake is killed in a car accident. Moving Forward starts off twelve months after his death, at the point where Jesika is grappling with her love for her dead husband holding her back from living her life and being happy. She is trying to make choices that won't disrespect the love she had for Jake, but will allow her to be the best mother she can for Jaxon and have a life that is fulfilling and happy.

Jesika and Derek officially meet at a career's day at their children's school. Neither can understand the undeniable connection they feel. They cautiously start to explore their feelings for each other and the story follows the development of their relationship, in which Jesika and Derek must deal with issues from their pasts before they can truly 'move forward'.

There are lots of connections or history between characters in this story, although they don't all know this at the same time. For me this added a level of intrigue to the story as there was no 'inevitable' outcome, although in the end it did wrap up fairly predictably. A couple of times I found myself wondering whether there was a yet to be explained significance to a character and thought it would have been good to develop the story more in some of those situations. For example, Jesika's best friend from college, Holden, makes a couple of appearances and for me his contribution to the story was very limited and I wasn't really sure whether there was more to uncover about him. There were other unanswered questions for me, which was a little frustrating, although I did wonder if they were deliberate and will form the basis of future books by Taylor. I think the book would benefit from at least one more chapter before the Epilogue. The last chapter finished with a fairly intense scene and I would have liked just a little bit more story before jumping ahead a few months.

The story is told from both Derek and Jesika's point of view (alternating chapters) and I really like this style. I like to see things from both perspectives and I think it helps the reader develop a greater understanding of the characters. There is also a great 'supporting cast' in Moving Forward, in particular Jesika's best friend, Mallory and Derek's brother, Seth. They are both avoiding commitment and, on the face of it, only in the whole relationship game for the sex and the 'fun'. We learn that Seth has had a heart breaking encounter previously and as a consequence guards his heart closely, although he argues that his rocker lifestyle and prioritisation of the band is what keeps him from tying himself down. Mallory just seems to have a knack for picking the wrong guy, the type that always ends up breaking her heart and despite her outward confidence I think there is definitely more to her story. The relationship that develops between these two is a side story, but you are interested to know where it's going to go. The final chapter in the book is from Mallory's perspective and sets up the next instalment in the Timing is Everything Series, No Going Back, which is Mallory and Seth's story.

I enjoyed Moving Forward. The pace is fast, with some steamy love scenes and did I mention that Derek is a drummer ;) Definitely one for the more mature audience given some of the language and sex scenes.

Moving Forward is a story about well, moving forward. Jesika lost her husband and father of her child a year ago in a terrible car accident. She has the BEST friend a girl could ask for, Mallory. Mallory has been her rock. She is literally there for Jesika any time she needs her. Mallory is probably my favorite character from Moving Forward. She is loyal, fierce, and extremely funny.

Jesika is finally healing. She runs into Derek at her sons career day at school and for the first time since losing Jake, she is attracted to another man. She is ready to try to get on with her life. Of course, Mallory is there to help and encourages her to go out and see her favorite band, who she has not seen since the night Jake died. Surprise! Derek turns out to be the drummer of the band.

Knowing that I'm feeling like a teenager with a new crush has me smiling all silly-like. I forgot what it felt like to like someone. It's been so long since I first had those kinds of thoughts about Jake.

Derek is a fire-fighter and a drummer. He is also a single father to a little girl the same age as Jesika's son. Derek has secretly had a crush on Jesika since before Jake even died. He finally has his chance and he sweeps in like her Prince Charming. But, Derek's "baby momma" comes back stirring up heaps of trouble. Derek has been keeping things from Jesika. Important things...

I'm going to pass out. I feel dizzy. I feel like the world is spinning around me and I can't move. I want to scream. I want to cry. I want to deck this fucking bitch that just ripped my heart out again...~Jesika

"...all I can do is pray that this isn't going to break us... that the woman who shattered my heart won't re-shatter it again by running off the only woman who has been able to make it feel again. I mentally and emotionally prepare myself for the shit that is about to hit the fan..."~Derek

I really really enjoyed Erika's writing. She incorporates a lot of humor into her characters and I'm a funny, sarcastic kinda gal! So... I kinda love her! A few funny quotes:

"I'm starting to think I'm the one who should be worried about getting whacked off."-Derek
"Derek, I don't see how you getting whacked off could be a bad thing."-Jesika

"I'd mind fuck the shit out of you if I was a dude."-Mallory
"Hun, you'd mind fuck the shit out of anything with a beef taco if you had a dick," I tease.-Jesika

"I mean damn, I've been trying to have enough sex for the both of us, but sheesh a girl can only handle so much dick." Yep. This is my best friend. The one I'm currently asking for sex advice. I can't help but laugh at her, she is blunt as hell and I love it.-Mallory

Moving Forward by Erika Taylor

Right after I get a copy of this book I was so eager to read this. After reading the first few chapters earlier today a lot of things really intrigued me. As the story progress there are some things that I consider.

First for me this book was way to much fast to read. As the story of Jesika and Derek unfold its starting to give me a whiplash. But as the story continues the real lessons begins.

Jesika is a wonderful and very strong person in this story. She experienced great love, lost, cheated and been lied to. Anyhow in their story it gives you a real great deal about how she deal the lost of her husband. How she managed to moved on and be happy all over again. Opening her heart to Derek was a huge risk. Helping you how to dealt something like this in your life.

For Derek who is a wonderful husband and best friend to Jessica. How much he loved Emma and accept her as his own daughter. And how much he really loved and cared for Jesika in all those years.

I loved this phrase " Sometimes you have to take a step back to move forward" . This is so true in many aspect of our lives.

Brilliant work Erika Ashby for.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Moving Forward. My rating is unbiased and as genuine was possible!
First and foremost, I love me some Derek. Ladies if you thought you knew swoon worthy you have another thing coming with this one! He is sexy, sweet and above all else a true southern gentlemen. What could be wrong with him you ask? Well a little thing call a secret that would potentially destroy the heroine Jesika or bring them closer together.
Jesika is a single mother dealing with the ghost of her past when in comes charismatic Derek. They hit it off from beginning and their relationship blooms. When fate rolls through and their secrets expose themselves the story takes a turn from the wittiness the author had going and turns into a serious love story. Sex, heartache, more sex and above all else, the power to move forward will keep you flipping pages as fast as your pretty little fingers will allow you. Not only does Erika Taylor write an amazing story but she writes a story about real life situations, one in which I truly believe will touch a lot of readers in ways they didn’t expect. I would highly recommend this book to everyone seventeen and older.

Jesika Reynolds decidedly perfect life is shattered when her husband dies in a tragic car accident. Exactly one year later, Jesika is still trying to pick up the pieces of her broken life for the sake of her son Jaxson. During a career day event at her son's school, Jesika meets Derick Jordan, a fellow parent. She's seen him before and was intrigued by what she saw. And not only Derick a hot DILF, he's also a fire-fighter and a rock drummer! Wow, Jesika. You scored big with this one.

Moving Forward is a great read. I would like to see a little more editing for grammar and such. With that said, it's wonderful debut by a talented author. I will definitely buy the sequel to this book when it's released.

I felt honored to be asked to beta read this book. I think my favorite part of Moving Forward is Jesika's wittiness and sarcasm. Even though she is faced with tragedy, she doesn't let it break her spirit. Just when Jesika thinks she may never find love again, she meets Derek, the hot fire fighting rock star! Erika has a wonderful ability to weave a touching story of love, loss, humor, and sex. Derek will melt your heart and leave you swooning! Don't miss this book! This story will leave you reeling for days and craving more!!! Can't wait for book #2!

Being a young widow myself, I was very anxious to read Moving Forward. Erika Taylor brought the message of the book to life. Life is short, life is full of ups and downs & nothing is perfect...it's ok to move forward in life, living & loving again.
I highly recommend adding this book to your TBR list.

--You have to take a step back to move forward---Moving Forward by Erika Ashby

What would you do if the life that you loved was one day taken away from you? Your one true love was ripped away too soon? What would you do if after trying to pick up the pieces and move forward with the life you have now you find out that the life you once had was full of lies and has you questioning everything about your past?

Jesika Reynolds is slowly starting to pick up the pieces of her life a year after her husband, Jake, was tragically killed in an automobile accident leaving her to raise their son, Jaxon, as a single mother. Coming to the terms that her heart may never heal from the night it was shattered she focuses all her energy on her son and her job. She never planned on opening her heart again, well, that was until Derek Jordan rescued her from living a lonely life without passion.

Derek Jordan hasn’t had a fairy tale life either. Derek is raising his daughter Emma as a single dad after his love, Veronica skipped town shortly after Emma was born. Choosing drugs over him and their daughter Derek’s heart is broken and the one woman he feels can mend his heart back together is none other than the broken soul whose husband was killed one year again.

Can Jesika open her heart up again to Derek and finally move forward and be happy again? Can Derek put his past behind him and trust another woman with his heart again? Maybe these two broken souls can find their way together and mend each other and finally start to feel what true love is. Follow Jesika and Derek’s journey and watch how one single event can alter 2 lives completely and allow them to finally move forward to a better future, maybe even fate will step in and have their futures combine and become one future, their future!

This book was nothing like I thought it was going to be. I honestly didn’t even read the synopsis before reading it but I could tell just by the title what it was about “moving forward”. I loved it; I was already on high alert during the epilogue where my heart sank for Jesika and what she went through. She is such a strong woman and made a great life for her son after life dealt her a crap hand. She is beautiful on the inside and out and even though she is scared to love again you can feel that she deep down she does want to move forward and find her happiness again and I admired her for that. But deep down she has a little sex kitten in her that is ready to break free and Derek may just be the man that sets her free.

“That’s exactly what I’m telling you. And right now, I’m feeling in need of the firefighter part of him because he just freaking lit my body on fire with his damn orgasmic drumming.” - Jesika

That is what I am sayin’ Jesika – Derek + Drummer + Firefighter = orgasmic

Derek had me wanting to do many naughty things to him….I had the strong urge to….

Derek Jordan is all man wrapped in one fine ass package! Not only is this drop dead gorgeous man a drummer in a bad he is also a firefighter (did you hear that Nadine yes a drummer in a band and a FIREFIGHTER – let me get my lighter fluid ready). He is the total package….Let’s see devoted father (check), firefighter (check), drummer in a band (check), sexy as sin (check), swoon worthy (check), a fan-freakin-tastic lover (double check)…..YEP THAT’S DEREK!!! HELLO!!! Here is just a little dose of how sexy this man is………………..

“Baby, no. I want to be the one doing all the pleasing.”

(pick me, pick me, pick me)

“Open your eyes baby. I want us to watch each other.”

(If it were me I would NEVER close my eyes)

So yep that is Derek all wrapped up in a pretty little boy that I would love to untie…..Yummy!!

Jesika’s BFF Mallory was a hoot just about everything that popped out of that girls mouth had me laughing my ass off and she really did expand my vocabulary (and my husband says you don’t learn anything from the books I read) well I have to tell you I learned some very valuable lessons from Mallory like when to use phrases such as “Twat waffle” and “Coochie crater” in a sentence.

Oh Mallory, Mallory, Mallory…She was my breath of fresh air. She had me doing this A LOT….

"Let's go Jesika. You've had to deal with enough drama from this coochie crater today." – Mallory

Although there wasn’t much angst in this book between their relationship I still loved it. There is still some angst and some ups and down that they have to go through that left me feeling…

They had to work together to get through their pasts and hopefully come out on the other side a stronger couple. By the end of this story I wanted to sit around a campfire roasting marshmallows with Derek and Jesika and sing “Hakuna Matata” because after everything they went through in their pasts and everything they faced together they deserved to be happy together.

I cannot wait for book 2 “No Going Back” where I can devour Mallory and Seth’s Story...Yes Seth the Lead Singer of The Rifter’s and Derek’s brother! It is going to be HOTT and steamy.

Thank you so much to Erika Ashby for giving me an ARC copy to read and review. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and I am looking forward to reading more of this series and any other ideas that pop up in that head of yours.

"Sometimes you have to take a step back to move forward."

I wasn't really sure I could get through this book after reading the synopsis, and when I read the prologue, I was moved to tears and once again doubted if I could get through Moving Forward. But as I kept reading and muddled through the emotions that were making their way to the surface, something happened and I did get through it. I not only got through it, I loved it!

Jesika has had a very hard go at life after losing her husband in a horrific auto accident, almost dying in the same accident, and being a single parent to their six-year old son, Jaxson. Exactly one year after losing her husband, Jake, Jesika loses all composure and emotion while at her son's school for career day when a fireman walks into the classroom. Emotions and memories of all she's lost flood her and the only thing on her mind at that point is how quickly she can run away. This is not the first time Jesika has run. She has been running from men and any feeling for a year, completely uninterested in Mallory's (Jesika's best friend) suggestions of meeting someone and falling in love again. This isn't even a remote possibility until she runs from the classroom that day and lands on the steps outside of the school building and is immediately followed by the handsome firefighter, himself, Derek Jordan, who expresses deep concern for her emotional distress. Although Jesika can't explain it, she is immediately drawn to the handsome stranger and feels at ease talking to him as she is in a state of wonder that this perfect stranger would care about her emotional well-being.

Today is the type of day people who have lost someone they deeply loved dread. For me, it's a day I can either let it pull me back two steps or I can continue to keep moving forward with my life. The choice is mine.

Derek Jordan has experienced his own heartbreak and is a single father to six-year old Emma. Derek works as a fire fighter and finds his stress release as a drummer in the rock band, The Rifters, Jesika's favorite local band. Although his concern for Jesika on the school steps is seemingly innocent, he harbors a deep secret that can destroy Jesika's heart a little more if she knew, or it could bring them closer. Derek has watched Jesika from afar and has been deeply in like with her for two years. He can't stand to see her hurting and just wants to help her. When opportunity affords him a chance at happiness with the woman of his dreams, he is quick to jump at his chance for a normal loving relationship, something his commitment-phobic brother, Seth, scoffs at and believes to be non-existent. Derek is perfect in every way. The book boyfriends just don't come any more swoon worthy than Derek.

She has changed me in a way that I cannot explain. She has made me realize that sometimes things happen for a reason and not to push you back in life, but to move you forward to where you're truly meant to be.

What Jesika and Derek have together is simply beautiful and Erika Taylor has woven together a lovely tale of finding true love for the first time given a second chance. Fate is the underlying theme in this love story between Derek and Jesika, who fight against secrets from two pasts that are intertwined. All things happen for a reason; and with that you have to take the good, lean on each other for the bad, and hope to survive the ugly. When Jesika and Derek's good was evident, I swooned until I could swoon no more. When the bad creeped in, I was in heart-pounding angst wondering where the author was going to take me. But when the ugly stepped forward, I was crying the biggest and ugliest tears I could cry until my tear ducts were raw and screaming no more.

Once you think you are in the clear and your happy ending has arrived. BAM! Life is known to play us the shitty hand.

That is exactly the hand that the author played, and I was in for the ride with no turning back. I saw it coming, but I denied that it could happen. My fear gauge had gone so high into the red zone, I was beyond calming down and could only ride it out until the last sentence of the last chapter brought forth the ugly, face-distorting tears again. Then something happened. The author gave me a little thing called the epilogue. That beautiful, beautiful epilogue that gave reprieve to my fears and a happy ending to my sorrows....until the last sentence in the epilogue. EEEEP!!! I was shocked by something I never saw coming. Does this book give me my happy ever after? Yes, I did get the happy ever after for Jesika and Derek that was so well earned through the angst and heartbreak we (Jesika, Derek, and I) suffered through. Does this book end on a cliffhanger? Yes, it ends with such a cliffhanger for Seth and Mallory, but not to worry because the second book in the series, No Going Back, is coming Fall, 2013; and it will address all the questions I have for the characters whom I grew to love in Moving Forward.

Thank you to the author for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

4.5 stars...

Right from the prologue in Jake's POV, this book grabs you. Wham! It rips your heart out and also makes you wonder what his big secret was...

And then we meet Jesika. She's smart, sweet, and a single mom as she has lost her husband Jake. She has a supportive, funny best friend Mallory and a young son that keeps her occupied. She runs into Derek at her son's school and there seems to be an instant connection. Derek is a hot, swoony, firefighter, Drummer with a young daughter of his own. And this is not the first time he has noticed Jesika.

I'm done holding back, just because she probably isn't ready for any sort of relationship doesn't mean I can't get to know her. For some insane reason, I feel like I can help pull her the rest of way through. I can show her how to keep moving forward by just being there for her.

Their next meeting just continues the intense pull they have for each other and slowly we see a relationship develop naturally between them. They have a great rapport and have a supportive relationship. It all seems happy and near perfect.

"There's so much I want to share with you Jesika, so much. If you'll just let me"

It's not that Derek brought me out of that depression I had found myself in, but he helped me pull myself the rest of the way out. he made me want to give this crazy thing we call life my full attention again. Take Chances, love a little, free fall, take a leap of faith, put yourself out there for the chance of getting it ripped to shreds. Put your heart on the line with hopes that someone won't leave it there to wither away.

But there are secrets that Derek is keeping. We keep getting hints of it. And eventually their pasts crash together and their seemingly happy life together takes a big hit.

And then the story starts to become more involved. There are many layers to the story that are revealed. There are separations, miscommunications, and avoidance of issues. Parts of their pasts effect their present and future. But this couple is strong and has such similar needs and dreams. I really liked them together. Derek was so sweet, that at times I thought he was almost too perfect. But he was also protective, strong, and sexy. And he is a firefighter AND a drummer. That ups the sexiness factor up a couple of notches right there! And Jesika was understanding, caring, and independent. They fit together perfectly and were exactly what each other needed for themselves and for their kids. They definitely had chemistry, passion, and a deep connection even though it took them awhile to get there.

She has changed me for a reason that I cannot explain. She has made me realize that sometimes things happens for a reason and not to push you back in life, but to move you forward to where you're truly meant to be. The pain that you endure for that time doesn't allow your mind to wrap around the idea of the bigger picture that life has in store for you.

This man has no clue how happy he makes me. How after all the bullshit I've been though and the terrible loss, he make me want more out of life,. Makes me want to keep moving forward. He shows me that no matter what shitty hand life throws your way, you can live again.

There are twists and turns, happiness and tragedy. This poor couple went through so much that you had to hope that they would truly get their happy ending.

But there were a few times I was literally shaking my head thinking that their communication especially during critical times was very off. One time in particular, I literally wanted to hose them down and say stop the wild monkey sex and TALK right now!

Sometimes things happen for a reason and perhaps fate really intervenes to bring people together. This was a story of letting go of the past, holding onto what is important, and moving forward.

"Sometimes you have to take a step back to move forward."

I really loved her bestie Mallory and his brother lead singer, Seth. They are damaged, kindred spirits with commitment issues, but love to give. I am looking forward to their further story in No Going Back in Fall 2013.

Everyone knows they have feelings for each other. Hell, they're probably both in love. Mallory will never admit it to him, because if she admits, he'll for sure push her away. And Seth won't ever admit it, because he's just Seth. And he might never be able to put his heart and everything that comes along with it on the line again.

And I thought it was great that there was a shout out to guys of Black Falcon from Michelle Valentine's books. I love it when my book boyfriends hang out together.

Thanks to Erika Taylor for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This story is one of pain, love, lust, desire and trust. The author keeps you guessing the entire time! I mean you can predict a few things but what actually happens is never what you would expect. I was frantically reading so fast that my damn eyes were getting dry from not blinking. Erika sucks you in and spins you around and around so much you have butterflies in your stomach! Then she slows the pace allows your feet to touch the ground, let's you marinate for a minute before WAM! Ha ha! You are then in the next unexpected twist. I have never read anything like this before. It was mind boggling in the awesome as hell way, I stayed tense, full of anticipation and need for the entire freaking time. The sex in this book? Holy Shit! It was off the charts HOT! And the family dynamic really hit home for me. Whew! Ok, now for some book deets:

Jesika was a sweet girl that fell in love with her high school sweetheart. The typical story, lost her virginity, got married, had a baby and the whole nine. Then (totally not so typical) her too perfect life, is ripped up from under her feet like a magician doing a trick with the table cloth. It was WAY more than she thought she could ever handle. You know that feeling you get after a real life crisis happens, the feeling that you may not recover from the devastation you have encountered, well that was Jesika’s life until she meets Derek. She was just going through the motions and trying to survive her husband’s death and then.......... she saw him, this sexy firefighter at her son’s school. Something clicked when she laid eyes on him. It woke up whatever was lying dormant in her for so long. Passion, desire, and a lil attitude girlfriend! *snaps finger from head to toe*.

Derek
Then her best friend drags her to a concert, and she sees the hot firefighter from her son’s class room. He’s the drummer in her favorite band WHAT WHAT! Hell yeah! Derek just got DAMN HOT! Immediately sparks fly between them and they don't ever stop. They have a magnetic field between them, driving and pulling them together, and neither are fighting the pull.

Derek had been in enamored with Jesika since he first laid eyes on her. He saw her at her most vulnerable state. He is a hopeless romantic. He had his heart broken once before. It was bruised and stomped on and then thrown out on the highway like road kill. He vowed not to make the same mistake. He is a firefighter in the area so he has seen Jesika around a time or two. He also plays in a band with his brother, but he never expects to see Jesika when she comes to one of his shows. So, when he sees his chance with her he grabs it, with both hands!

Now while these are the main characters, just like Will and Grace they need their co-stars to make you laugh you’re freaking ass off. Enter Mallory and Seth stage left. Mallory is Jesika’s best friend. She is a down to earth chick. She tells it like it is, she’s crass and she just doesn’t give a DAMN! She is Jesika’s rock and the only reason why Jesika has made it through the terrible tragedy if losing her husband. When she drags Jessica to the local band’s show, she spies the lead singer Seth and is hot on his trail. Can we say Rock Star Groupie?
Seth is Derek’s older brother who has spent his whole life protecting Derek. Making sure he had everything he needed and trying to stay one step ahead of the game. Seth is the rebel type. Not to be tied down of course, so being the lead singer in the band is perfect. Being in this band is something he has dreamed about doing since he was a kid. They play local gigs and Seth’s big dream was to make it big and get out of the little small town they grew up in.
So you know how you try to make yourself look good on a first date and you may embellish something about yourself? Well, with the connection Jesika and Derek have, they could read each other so well they knew that the other one was holding something back. As this tangled web unfolds the question is can the secrets of their pasts keep them from pursuing a happily ever after? I can’t really delve too much into the details 'cause Erika did such of good job of adding twists and turns that I would give it away and I don’t want to spoil it for ya!! Ehem so on that note, I give this 4.5 BadAssDirtyTwistedStars for keeping me on my toes to the bitter end and keeping it HAWT as hell with the sex scenes. I can’t wait to see what Seth and Mallory’s story will bring us in the next installment! For more of my reviews checkout http://lipsmackingoodbooks.blogspot.com

There are many definitions of the word fate.

FATE: the inevitable fortune that befalls a person or thing; destiny

Jesika Reynolds was torn apart by her husband’s unexpected death. Becoming a widow and a single parent at a very young age made life difficult for her. She was living life, but just barely, closed off and guarded from the world around her. Her best friend Mallory has tried desperately to make her see that there is life beyond the hurt and pain. Mallory is her biggest cheerleader to put her life back in order and get back into the dating world. Jesika is torn though because she still feels the connection to her deceased husband. But her fate is decided the moment she
lays eyes on Derek Jordan.

Derek Jordan had seen his fair share of heartache in life. Single father and firefighter by day and drum playing rock star by night, you’d think that his life was full. He was missing something, that one piece of the puzzle to make his life complete. The previous puzzle piece that no longer fit was the cause of his sadness. He wants to much to have someone to share his life with him, and when he finally finds her he will give the relationship everything he’s got to keep her.

Their destiny was written in the stars. Jesika Reynolds was untouchable in the past, all Derek could do was watch from a distance. After the passing of her husband he had seen her sadness.
When a chance encounter at their children’s school brings him face to face with the woman he has secretly had his eye on for years, he has a chance he never thought possible at making this woman his. But Derek knows that he holds secrets that she isn’t aware of, something that could bring more pain and heartache.

Derek is a dreamy hunk of perfect MAN! My goodness he is a hot firefighter but also plays the drums in a band along with his brother. There is soooo much to love about Derek. He is a single dad to a little girl and he pours his heart and soul into being the best dad he can be. He’s romantic and considerate, pretty much has every quality you could possibly want in a man. I simply could go on all day about him. He is totally swoon worthy…

Jesika is such a strong character in this book. I love that she fights for what she wants and stands up for herself. She isn’t a push over that’s for sure. She is witty and charismatic, and has a
certain spunk to her that made me love her. She handles everything with class even when she is pushed to her limits. Being a single mom to a little boy she needs to keep things together for
the sake of her child. She is one awesome mom always wanting to put her child’s needs before her own. I just fell in love with her character from the very beginning.

Their relationship progresses so normally which is perfect. The whole story was so believable and realistic. The story progressed perfectly and had enough angst to knock me dead at times… The HOLY HELL THAT DID NOT JUST HAPPEN moment in the beginning had me practically screeching at my iPad… When you get to this moment you will know EXACTLY what I am talking about and you too will be like OH NO that did not just happen… Yeah it will keep you guessing about a lot of things from time to time and not just about their relationship working out or if they get their happily ever after the secrets are pretty BIG and really CRAZY at times!

Erika has a flair for the bad boy too, and I’m talking about Derek’s brother Seth… I personally think that he puts on a show but I guess I have to wait and find out because his story is NEXT! I am so excited for Seth and Mallory’s story next… I think when you read the last part of the story you will be saying I NEED IT NOW!!!! Stay tuned for updates on release of the next book “No Going Back”

Erika gets 5 stars from me there isn’t much you could change to make this one any better!!!!

4 beautiful stars!!!

OK I totally LOVED this book!

It was such a beautiful story, wow! I loved how the characters developped together, I love how their love stayed strong throughout all the bullshit, I love how after everything they have all been through, they were able to help each other cope and get better and heal.

People come into your life; some come with a purpose, while others don't. It's up to you yo decipher. Life keeps happening no matter what's going on around you and the what if's we all usually ask ourselves would make the things we pray to happen cease to have ever existed.
SO GOOD!

MoFo (LOL) is the story of Jesika Reynolds, a single mom who lost her husband in a car accident. While she tries to get over the heartbreak of losing her other half and taking care son, she meets Derek Jordan, a firefighter who seems to have a familiar connection to her. When she almost breaks down in tears infront of him, Derek taked the opportunity to run after her and console her. Little does Jesika know, Derek has been eyeing her for almost 2 years at the school. He was incredibly attracted to her and wanted to get to know her, but given that she was married, then widowed, he did not want to push himself on her. However, when they finally meet, the connection is undeniable and they both find themselved caught up in each other trying to help each other deal with pain, heartbreak, loneliness. As their relationship grows, Jesika slowly starts finding out secrets of her deceased husband and starts realizing what she has been missing out, and Derek struggles with hiding secrets of his own. When all of the truths and lies come forward, Jesika and Derek fight to keep their relationship untamed while dealing with the outcomes of the situation.

I want to start by taking about DEREK JORDAN the firefighter aka HOT DRUMMER aka HOT DADDY (as Mallory would say). He was SMOKING! He was the perfect sexy package: loving and responsible dad, tattoes, in a band, sexy, etc etc. I have such a weak spot for guys in rock bands it's unbelievable haha! He was the definition of sweetness!

Everything he said made me swoon!

"Marry me Jesika. I can';t live my life without you. . .and I don't want to fucking have to try either. I want you to be mine. Always. Forever. The first time I ever saw you, I knew you were the one."

"I will alwasy protect you. I will always put the sdafety of your heart above everything else."

Jesika was such a character, too! She was really straight forward and I really liked that about her!

"I'm feeling in need of the firefighter part of him because he just freaking lit my body on fire with him damn orgasmic drumming."

"Derek, I'm not going anywhere, as long as it's my choice. Don't you think I'm scared shitless? Yeah, I recovered once, but there is no way in hell I'd ever recover from losing you. We can't control anything that happens in life besides how we choose to live. And I choose to live a happy, long life with you."

"...Touching you whenever I want. I've been searching for you all my life. I had to take a few wrong turns, but they all brought me to you."

I gave MoFo 4 stars instead of 5 for the sole reason that I found it wuite repetitive. The fact that each chapter was narrated by both Jesika and Derek made it a bit long, because they would just repeat was was just done or said but in their point of view. Don't get me wrong, I love different POV in books, but I prefer when it's in a different book or when the story doesn't repeat itself. Other than that, I enjoyed the story very much! Erika is my mama hoe and I wuv her work so much!

BTW, I am MORE than excited for book 2. Mallory's cliffhanger at the end was so WHOA!!!!

MY REVIEW OF MOVING FORWARD

Holy Hell, Moving Forward by Author Erika Taylor was one hell of a ride. I was thoroughly impressed with this new indie author’s debut novel. I have NEVER I repeat NEVER cried during the prologue of a book ---> but I did with Moving Forward. This book is so much more than your typical Contemporary Romance. It’s about loss, love, finding yourself again, deceit, secrets, and most of all trust. I experienced a rollercoaster of emotions throughout Moving Forward. It was heart-stopping, gut-wrenching, and beautiful all rolled into one. *Sigh* Yes, I may in fact have a girl crush on Erika Taylor after reading and falling head over heels in love with her novel. It was that damn good! Like slap yo mama kinda good J I mean Erika Taylor can write a sex scene like nobody’s business. *Cough* There is a dry-humping scene that literally had me fanning myself ----> I am NOT kidding. I was like….OMG, a girl could use a cold shower after that scene. Mmm, and the first sex scene is so scorching HOT it will make you want it up against a brick wall for sure! Are you convinced yet that you need to read this book?

Oh Jesika Reynolds I fell in love with her character. She was such a strong independent woman throughout the novel. I cannot imagine losing my husband to a tragic accident only to be left with our child and have to begin picking up the pieces again. I mean how does one go on after that? It was heart breaking going through the motions with Jesika but also eye opening as you see and feel what this woman has to endure to get back to herself again. Jesika thought she would never move forward, never love another person besides Jake, and most importantly never get back to her old self again. However, she didn’t count on Derek coming into her life and putting her world and heart back together again!

Mmm Hmm, Derek Jordan…. Oh lawd I am not even going to joke---> I want a piece of that man. *Swoon Worthy Award* He is officially my favorite book boyfriend this year. Will the real HD please stand up ----> a single devoted father, tattoos, hot sexy drummer, oh and did a mention he’s also a firefighter! Yep, he can come and put out my fire ANYTIME! Derek has secrets of his own that could cause Jesika to 2nd guess her decision on love and relationships. Can their relationship survive Derek’s secrets or will Jesika be once again left with a broken heart?

MOVING FORWARD RECEIVES ------> 5 + HUGE STARS!
