I know, Last year when I made the list Goodreads voided it the first time because there weren't any books voted for on it. So I had to add something, that's the one I'm reading right now. Happy New Years Jennifer, All the best
Buggy, I still think your list is interesting despite GR Reading Challenge, because your list allows me to rank my favorite reads. Good job! :)
I'm OCD and have to say this: as far as I could check, none of the people who voted for The Hunger Games read it this year, so what's happening here? :(
Really? 5 people already read the hunger games? Come on just cause you like the book doesn't mean you need to vote for it every chance you get.
I was wondering about that myself. Seems a lot of people stayed home last night and read The Hunger Games?! Oh well@Jennifer, You're welcome :)
@Dina Thanks Dina, glad to see here on the 2012 list. You'll notice I adjusted it for YOU speedy (and lucky) readers
Sadly, I'm no longer a speedy reader. RL has caught up with me and I can't go without sleeping anymore, LOL. Just so you get the idea, my 2012 GR reading challenge goal is 50 books. Yup, "only" 50. The world as I knew it has ended.
Oh how the mighty have fallen! Its a sad year indeed when my reading idol is only going for 50 books. Damn that RL anyways. However Dina I'm betting you'll still hit about 100.
Hi, I've just voted for a book that I'm currently reading, but its just so's I have your list on my page. I'll be finished the book soon anyway (was trying to finish it before New Year but got sick damn it)!
Oh, and perhaps for those of feeble brain, Bugsy, who can't understand 'what we've read so far in 2012', maybe you need to add '(JUST 2012, NOT in any other year)'! I thought that was strange that so many had read 'The Hunger Games' for a second year running, and now to have so many at the start of 2012...
Hey Penny hope you're all better now. I also added the book I was reading at the time (not then finished) just to get this list started. So no worries there. Now I'll actually read them first.Regarding The Hunger Games, I don't know what the deal is there? 4 people had read it by 6am on Jan 01!
Hmmm did they stay up all night reading? I'll have a think about how to phrase the heading better.
If you look in the history...ahem...they also added it to your 2011 list. Come on guys, I mean, really???
Buggy, as the creator of the list, can't you delete those "invalid" votes? Call me a psycho, but I can't look at the darn The Hunger Games cover on the top of the list without cringing.
HI Dina I know! But I think I've figured out what happened. In the beginning there were only 2 books on the list which I placed there to save the list from being voided by GR's. I think people voted on The Hunger Games (as one of those 2 books) to kinda bookmark this list for themselves.I looked into deleting those first few votes but the only thing I can do "as creator" is delete the book entirely (not the individual votes) which isn't really fair in case people actually have read it plus GR's seemed to frown upon this in their rules section.
SO, sorry babe but unfortunately we'll have to suffer through the HG for a while yet. Hopefully it will get out voted soon.
Dina wrote: "..none of the people who voted for The Hunger Gamesread it this year.."
It might be a re-read? Unfortunately, GR doesn't support multiple read dates.
Buggy wrote: "...4 people had read it by 6am on Jan 01! "
Which time zone? ;)
It's not impossible, even if they started it on Jan 01.
It really bugs me too to see it on top of every list although I loved the book.
Well, it could be worse - it could be Twilight again *shudder*
Thanks for the explanation, Buggy! :) I don't think it will get voted out, not with the movie coming out this year. I'm making all this fuss but
I
will vote for it this year, because I plan to read the book before seeing the movie. Yeah, I enjoy ruffling some feathers now and then, LOL.

My thoughts exactly
Ha, ha Dina making all the fuss. You're right, with the movie coming out this year it's bound to be #1 again. I'll probably read it again myself. (It is really good!)
Thanks Devlin, Its interesting seeing the top books change and how many of the top 100 you're read. Anyways Have fun :)
@Buggy Not sure if you are able to manage duplicates, but in browsing I noticed that Poison Study is listed twice (currently at 112 & 908). My OCD kicked in and I thought I'd point it out :)
OK...taking a leaf out of the book of Buggy, Hayes and Marlene, I've decided to carry the list experiment and record and cut it down a bit further. For anyone who is game, I'm attempting to keep a record of the books that 'Women born in the 70s have read in 2012'. I hope it is ok to post the link?www.goodreads.com/list/show/18270.201...
If there are lots of votes I'll do it again next year as well.
I know there will be people saying 'well, why is my decade being discrimated against? and to that I say - I'd love to be able to compare decade 'slices' if anyone wants to start lists for other decades as well? (personally, I think you should be born in that decade to qualify as lister?)
Link to your list up shortly Buggy :)
I decided to make my own decade list "What women born in the 90s have read in 2012" This is my very first list so I would appreciate any tips or guidance!http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/19...

Exciting! I'm voting.
So many of these books are on my to read lists, makes me wish I had a lot more time to read so I can vote!
I know the feeling well Shannon. Lots of them are on my TBR shellf as well. I just wish I could read faster
I wish I had the option of not counting manga towards my goal counter. I've read so many manga, but I know I haven't read 100 real books this year. :( I don't really count manga as reading a book because it's so quick. That makes this list nice, because now I can actually keep track. Looks like I only need 10 more to get to 100! :)
Laura wrote: "I wish I had the option of not counting manga towards my goal counter. I've read so many manga..."Just remove the "read date" and they'll be gone.

I could, but I also want to be able to go to their page and know when I read them. It's kinda a win-lose situation; either I take the dates off and not remember when I read them, or leave them on and trash my counter. But now that I have this list it makes it so much better. =)
Laura wrote:"I could, but I also ..."Laura you could add the read dates in your "private notes" Thats what I've done for books I've read more than once
Hi Bonnie, Yup I'm working on putting it together today sometime. I'm just trying to remember how I started it in past years because I have to add books to the list or it voids itself. I think I'll just add the top 5 reads from 2012. Happy New year!
