Over 35? This is where we can keep track of what we're reading this year. (Not our favorites from past years.) [Note: spam will be deleted if detected. Mostly what it will earn is the ire of the regular voters.]
Last year's top reads were Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine, The Hate U Give, Before We Were Yours, Little Fires Everywhere, and The Woman in the Window.

Bettie, Whoops. I think I forgot to keep adding to 2018, and a long time ago.I'll try to do this for 2019. I think it's that I'm so much older than 35 I'm not sure I'm a good fit for these lists.

Lisa wrote: "Susanna, Great to know. I’d also love an over 60 or at least over 50 list. If I was more active here I might start one. ..."An 'over 50' list would be nice 😉

Hmmmm...just a quibble Susanna - if you're going to have an 'over 50' list, why not make this 'over 30' or '30-50'? I always thought '35' was an odd number to start with but I always thought 'everyone over the age of 35, ok, that means everyone over the age of 35'. Is this going to split the numbers or are those that are over 50 also going to add books to this over 35 list too?
I must say I quite like the 'over 35' list... (even thought there is now an 'over 50' list as well). As far as I'm concerned, there is no need to change the 'over 35' list, but that's just my personal opinion.
I didn't start this list in the first place, Penny, so I don't know why 35 was chosen. (I think the original starter of this concept of list has left GR?)

(I think the original starter of this concept of list has left GR?)"Yes I think they have. I remember you re-starting this one for us a few years ago. I forget why their particular criteria was over 35...it will just be interesting to see if those over 50 favour one or the other. I'm over 35 but not yet there in the over 50 bracket, so no biggie for me. I'm just interested in stats hehe!
Just a short note for anyone new to the list - this list is for the books we've read this year, in 2019, not favorites from any year, like most lists.
Not anymore. Removed for being spam: Dear George, Dear Mary: A Novel of George Washington's First Love.
The only thing the voters had ever done in Listopia was vote this book, and this book only, on to many lists. A book with very few ratings.
When the list is short like it is now, these sort of stand out. Its a red flag when the top book is some unknown title with very fewer readers.

Lisa wrote: "Ah, thanks! Do you watch each book that diligently or do you get some sort of notification?"I don't get a notification (except from other voters who notice it, like Pat did), but it's more common than you might think on Listopias, and the signs just jump out at you at a certain point.
Removed, once again, for being spam: Dear George, Dear Mary: A Novel of George Washington's First Love.Let me add that this is a terrific way to convince me to never read this book, and I read historical fiction. If I were the author, I'd try to discourage this spamming.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads wrote: "It's on the 70s list again, btw. (400 and something?)"They are nothing if not persistent...
6,000 ratings is high for a spam book, but #1 is looking very suspicious. Just look at the voters: 13 "1 of 1" votes (this in June), and 1 actual regular voter on this list. (Not removing because of that one real vote.)I hate fanboy spamming.
Hmmm. 1 of 1 sounds very suspicious to me too... Now, if it were January but it is June, for Pete' sake.
Yeah, 13 "1 of 1" votes, and 1 legitimate vote ("31 of 49" I think). Totally non-suspicious in June. Also most of the 13 voted this book, and only this book, onto a succession of lists. Totally kosher.
I haven't removed it because it has 1 legitimate vote. To the 15 other fangirls: congrats, I'll never read this now.
For whatever reason, the author of Blood River seems to have a team of people spamming his books to the top of multiple lists. Sometimes relevant, sometimes not.

Provided the creator is a librarian of course. Because there must be something we can do about spamming lists...
All I can say is that it's not going to be in my list of next year's 'last year's most top reads were...'
I created a list to try to capture those books that are something not quite spam as https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/131399.Surprisingly_Popular_Listopia_BooksNote the Tim Butcher books at the top.
Not quite enough yet to put it on https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/7... , but it's creeping up there.
Rainbowheart wrote: "For whatever reason, the author of Blood River seems to have a team of people spamming his books to the top of multiple lists. Not always the case tho - some authors are just so shit obviously if they have to have spamming teams...
