Read 24/40 and 3/10
Updated: December 26, 2018
Attempt made but, college courses got in the way; September to December :)

✔1. A book made into a movie you've already seen - A Long Way Home (the book behind the movie, Lion). I totally enjoyed this movie. Very good :) - Read 05/08/18.
✔2. True Crime - The Stranger Beside Me: Ted Bundy The Shocking Inside Story - Read 02/25/18. I knew very little about Ted Bundy. This book is creepy but also very eye-opening.
✔3. The next book in a series you started - Three to Get Deadly by Janet Evanovich - Number 3 in the Stephanie Plum series - Read 01/10/18 (so fun!)
✔ 4. A book involving a heist - Heist: The Oddball Crew Behind the $17 Million Loomis Fargo Theft - Read 01/09/18
✔5. Nordic noir - The Snowman - Read 11/07/18. Good, but not as gripping as other thrillers.
✔6. A novel based on a real person - A Woman in Berlin: Eight Weeks in the Conquered City: A Diary - book put together of diaries, discovered after WWII - Read 07/15/18. Shocking, reads like a diary. Takes you to the moments as Berlin fell, the Russians moved in.

✔7. A book set in a country that fascinates you - Pyongyang: A Journey in North Korea - Read April 2/18. Makes you think about North Korea and traveling in North Korea.... not always easy.
8. A book with a time of day in the title - The Happiness Project: Or Why I Spent a Year Trying to Sing in the Morning, Clean My Closets, Fight Right, Read Aristotle, and Generally Have More Fun
✔9. A book about a villain or antihero - Spider-Man/Deadpool, Vol. 1: Isn't it Bromantic - Read 04/28/18. I don't usually read comics, but I did enjoy this!
✔10. A book about death or grief - The Five People You Meet in Heaven - Read 04/20/18. Sad but makes you think about heaven/dying/the afterlife. I enjoyed this!

11. A book with a female author who uses a male pseudonym - TBD
12. A book with an LGBTQ+ protagonist - If I Was Your Girl
✔13. A book that is also a stage play or musical - Mary Poppins - Read 08/16/18. Was light and you can tell this was written in the 1930s. But still very fun!
✔14. A book by an author of a different ethnicity than you - The Boy on the Beach, by Tima Kurdi. Tima is from Syria, she lives in my area - Read 04/13/18. Sad but makes us think about refugees.

✔15. A book about feminism - Asking For It - Read 09/27/18. This book was a tough read. It was horrible, but it was important to read at the same time.
✔16. A book about mental health - The Pleasure of My Company by Steve Martin - Read 07/19/18. Main character has OCD, and helped me to understand it better.
✔17. A book you borrowed or that was given to you as a gift - The Zookeeper's Wife, borrowed from my mother-in-law - Read 03/22/18. Liked the history, but sad about the zoo animals!

18. A book by two authors - The Heist, by Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg
19. A book about or involving a sport - Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption - my Dad who loves books and sports, said I should read this

✔20. A book by a local author - I'm in Vancouver, BC. When Everything Feels Like the Movies - Read 01/01/18
21. A book with your favorite color in the title - The Blue Castle
✔22. A book with alliteration in the title - The War of the Worlds - Read 05/08/18 (Aug. 5). Written in the 1800s but still damn scary! The Martians take over!
23. A book about time travel - The Eyre Affair or All Our Wrong Todays or The Amateurs
24. A book with a weather element in the title - The Wind in the Willows
✔25. A book set at sea - The Old Man and the Sea - Read 03/30/18. Finally read this classic!
✔26. A book with an animal in the title - The Cat Who Had 14 Tales - Read 09/22/18. This is a fun collection of cat stories, with some adorable cats.
27. A book set on a different planet - The Martian Chronicles or Artemis
28. A book with song lyrics in the title - Every Breath You Take or I've Been Meaning to Tell You: A Letter to My Daughter
✔29. A book about or set on Halloween - It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown - Read 01/01/18 - a classic!
30. A book with characters who are twins - I See You
✔ 31. A book mentioned in another book - The Bell Jar, mentioned in Hitch-22: A Memoir - Read 07/07/18 - Interesting, messy, crazy....all of the above.
✔32. A book from a celebrity book club - The Opposite of Loneliness: Essays and Stories - recommended by Emma Watson - Read 08/25/18. I really enjoyed this. It was a collection of essays. Unfortunately the very talented author has now passed away. That aura of sadness; it trails with you as you read this book.

33. A childhood classic you've never read - The Giver
✔34. A book that's published in 2018 - The Room on Rue Amélie Read 1/22/18. Coming out in March, I read the ARC. Beautiful book!
35. A past Goodreads Choice Awards winner - Salt to the Sea (winner in 2016)
36. A book set in the decade you were born - Everything I Never Told You, set in the 1970s!
✔37. A book you meant to read in 2017 but didn't get to - Everything, Everything - Read 11/13/18. I enjoyed this, actually wishing that I read it sooner.
✔38. A book with an ugly cover - The 100 Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared - that yellow cover is gross. It looks like all mustard - Read 06/23/18
39. A book that involves a bookstore or library - The Little Paris Bookshop or The Librarian of Auschwitz
40. Your favorite prompt from the 2015, 2016, or 2017 POPSUGAR Reading Challenges - From 2017, a book involving travel - A Year in the World: Journeys of a Passionate Traveller

My possible extras!
Read 3/10

4. A book tied to your ancestry - The Road to Little Dribbling: More Notes from a Small Island (Mostly British ancestry)
