What are the characteristics of a novella exactly? I read that it is only the page count but somewhere else that the topic is also important. Would you count for example Odd and the Frost Giants as a novella?

I am in for The twelve towers challenge, trying Need for speed. I will post my books and the start date.Great challenge!
I am doing pretty good with this one. I think I will be on track to finish by the time I wanted to. I just had to move my "intimidating" book to my DNF catagory, because I have officially given up on War and Peace. This means I need to find a new intimidating book.
The one section that is been the slowest going for me is the 11 books on the shelf the longest. I have only read 2 from there. It would be so cool to get those off my shelf though.
How is everyone else doing?
I definitely forgot about this challenge for the last like half a year, so I'm not going to be able to finish in time. But because I also cleared out my tbr in general I might just restart the challenge in a little while
