message 3: by Erica (new)

Erica that was harder than I thought

message 4: by Kevin (new)

Kevin Xu Its not surprising what I voted for.

message 5: by Christine (new)

Christine How in the heck do we pick just one?! Wow, that was a tough call.

message 6: by Kevin (new)

Kevin I managed to narrow it down to a personal top 3, then I just picked at random.

MrsJoseph *grouchy* It's amazing. Over 120 votes and yet over half the list has less than one vote...

message 8: by Sabine (new)

Sabine Reed I am surprised, only 126 total votes. I was expecting a greater response from fantasy lovers. Naturally, the Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings got the most votes. No surprise there. Lots of good books on the list though.

message 9: by Amelia (new)

Amelia The poll has just barely started. I'm sure we'll see a lot of voters, especially since so many have already voted and it's only been one day since the poll has been up.

message 10: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea We have two whole weeks for the tally to finish up, too!

Aragorn 4 eva!!

message 11: by Weenie (new)

Weenie George RR will give JRR a run for his money :-)

message 12: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Burroughs Me culpa! I posted this vote on my blog and now have to suffer the guilt of not posting earlier ones so my friend could vote for Dune! Ooops.

So, weren't there topics where these things could be discussed? I need a link so I can send her there.

message 13: by Ken (new)

Ken Too many great series. So hard to pick just one.

MrsJoseph *grouchy* Patricia wrote: "Me culpa! I posted this vote on my blog and now have to suffer the guilt of not posting earlier ones so my friend could vote for Dune! Ooops.

Hi Patrica. If you go to the "Reading Recommendations" folder you will find several threads discussing the rules, voting requirements, book eligibility, discussions, nominations and the voting rounds (this is the 5th and final round).

Dune - IIRC - was not eligible as it is considered Science Fiction and this list is specifically for Fantasy genre books. The threads I pointed you to would have more detail.

message 15: by Traci (new)

Traci Me too :)
I'm torn between my favorite author, my favorite book, a new-ish favorite series that had me bawling at the end, and a new favorite that might be the best example of what epic fantasy can do.

MrsJoseph *grouchy* :-)

I decided to pick a book...knowing I can change my mind until the last day....

:-D

message 17: by TinaNoir (new)

TinaNoir Well, I voted a bit strategically. I knew my very favorite would get placed highly. I knew my second favorite would get placed highly. So I voted for a sentimental favorite that I wanted to make sure at least got placed.

message 18: by Roshio (new)

Roshio Yeah I did the same Kimberly, I had to go for my first ever. Sentimental reasons I guess, it always holds a special place.

Mike (the Paladin) Sorry MrsJ, I tried to vote again, but it wouldn't let me.... ;)

message 20: by Terry (new)

Terry Simpson Voted and Thank you MrsJ

message 21: by Mick (new)

Mick I finally voted. I had to go for The Once and Future King because that was the book that cemented my life-long love of Arthurian legend.

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

Since I saw the poll results before logging in, I decided to go with my next favorite book/series ... Elric of Melniboné. Thanks for the reminder MrsJ, I don't know how I missed this poll!

message 23: by Gaijinmama (last edited Nov 07, 2011 04:16PM) (new)

Gaijinmama It was a really tough choice, but I voted for The Last Unicorn but only because I knew Lord of the Rings/ Hobbit would win and I really would be thrilled if more people were inspired to read Peter S. Beagle!!

Huge Terry Brooks fan here, too.

message 24: by Tina (new)

Tina A lot of good ones, but my vote belongs to the dark tower.

message 25: by Mina (new)

Mina Khan Okay, voted for Magic Bites! Woot!
