Brittany B. There are some really great books on here. I wish there was a way to read users' most common reasons for not ever intending to read some of these books.
JD Ward's BDB??
Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark???
Nalini Singh??
Gena Showalter??
And Patricia Briggs Cry Wolf? I haven't had the chance to read the book, but the Alpha Omega series is well-respected. Briggs is well-respected. So to add Briggs to a list of "books I will never read" seems baseless.

This is one of the most surprising lists I've read. Nearly every paranormal writer is on list.
This is very biased towards all things paranormal.

I'm sorry, but this list demonstrates a seriously narrow-minded point of view. It's fine not to like paranormal genre. This list just makes voters seem ignorant.

I also agree with you some of the books here look really interesting. I wish the people could put the reasons as to why they put the books they did on this list

message 3: by Violet (new)

Violet There some REALLY great reads here... that even I've read.

This list is half stupid!! >=(

message 4: by Rhea (new)

Rhea Some of my favorites are on this list, as well, but I'm not complaining.
Everyone has their reasons.
I don't care what books the others are voting for and what's the reasoning behind their votes.

message 5: by Jackie (new)

Jackie I put a lot of Patricia Briggs on there myself, and I love Urban Fantasy. I read the first Mercy Thompson and have since sworn her off completely. Wretched writing, imo.

So yeah, everyone has their reasons.

message 6: by Marren (new)

Marren No Harry Potter???

message 7: by Tura (new)

Tura How have all these books gotten 4 stars? Seriously, the stars system on GD is somehow pretty useless. I have read some dire crap that had 4 stars or more - people need to stop rating up books they got for free for example.

PS. I tried to read the Bible but got bogged down on the whole who begat whom part, but there is some intriguing stuff here and there. It is also a book people will be bashing you with so it is useful to have some familiarity with it. I would not have put it on this list.

Sandi - Protester of Goofreads Excuse me, but I'm confused . . . does a vote say you think the book is good & shouldn't be on the list, or that you agree & it should be on the list. Please, would someone give me clarification. Thanks.

message 9: by Rhea (new)

Rhea A vote should mean you agree that book is not worth the effort.

message 10: by Eli (new)

Eli You're right about most of them, but there are some really great books that you're absolutely prejudging them. You should give them a chance.

+ Holy bible is your religion's canonical book. It's not supposed to be interesting. Yet if you think there's something wrong with it you should probably start searching for a new religion.

message 11: by Rania (new)

Rania yousife i have read a book that u have listed it here " fifty shades of grey " i guess that is what is called ..
and to be honest , i didn't complete it , because it was so disgusting to begin , i was super disappointed < i was in love with the main characters but discovered that he " Grey" was a disgusting type of a guy , i mean there are some things or word shouldn't be said , i mean , i get that the authors want their novel to be a huge hit or something , but in my opinion there are another ways to make it hit without including some disgusting staff , i really loved the book at first but got disappointed . but the others i havent yet read them .

Tura Raniamohammed wrote: "i have read a book that u have listed it here " fifty shades of grey " i guess that is what is called ..

it is only a hit because of the "disgusting stuff" so if it did not have that, you would not have heard of it, and thus not read it. Neither would have anyone else. What comes to "disgusting stuff" in general, there is much more explicit and better written stuff around so even that is no reason to read it, really, if that is your cup of tea.

All good books, not worthy of being on the same list as Twilight and 50 Shades....

message 14: by Sandy (new)

Sandy Southern I've read more of these than I haven't - wonder why I would be a good addition to this group? This list is a little insulting - I mean does it say something about my taste in reading material. I have really enjoyed a lot of these.

BookLovingLady (deceased Jan. 25, 2023...) Miharu wrote: "id probably click on every single one of these haha but only chose a few xD"

Same here :-)

BookLovingLady (deceased Jan. 25, 2023...) Sandy wrote: " This list is a little insulting - I mean does it say something about my taste in reading material. I have really enjoyed a lot of these. ..."

Why should it be insulting? Different people, different tastes.

No one should feel insulted by this list. I noticed a few books I liked a lot on the list but I'm not insulted to see them there. As I said, different people have different tastes, and there's nothing wrong with that :-)

It took three years before I was finally persuaded to read Fifty Shades of Grey and I managed to finish it, but the first book was enough to convince me never to try the second and third part. As far as Twilight goes, I've seen the films on television, and they were okay more or less, but the films convinced me never to try the books. Nevertheless, both Fifty Shades and Twilight are hugely popular, and there's nothing wrong with that. They're just not for me, that's all.

message 17: by Emilie (new)

Emilie Since not everyone has the same taste in books, I always read some of the best and worse reviews. If the people who liked it did for reasons I usually like books, and the people who didn't justify it with arguments I tend to agree with, I take it as a good sign. So those stars are still usefull, just not to be taken at face value...

I agree! I have already read half the books on this list but some of them were VERY BAD. However, I love the paranormal so I have to read those books.

Lida Keshvarikanzagh The Deity I Did Not Want
After a long time, I finally read a book with a completely fresh and original idea. This is a short story available on Amazon Kindle, and it takes no more than 20 minutes to read — but it has so much to say. Once you start, you simply can't put it down. I highly recommend it to everyone!
