64 Favorite Romance Novels from the Past Three Years

It's time for happily ever after!
If you're looking for a story to pull at your heartstrings, satisfy your soul, and make you believe in true love, look no more. These are the most popular romance novels from the past three years, according to Goodreads members. To create our list, we looked through our data to find the romance novels published since 2019 and most frequently added to your Want to Read shelvings, which is how we measure your heart's desire.
It turns out that love is a fickle thing. In the past three years, rom-com and contemporary romances have captured more hearts than historical fiction in terms of popularity. But if a historical romance set way back in time is what makes you swoon, make a date with Bringing Down the Duke written by a newer voice, Evie Dunmore.
It's a wild ride for some of the reader favorites in our roundup, and for others the romance is right there. Emily Henry's latest pair of novels signal those looking for love may find it with people they already know in People We Meet on Vacation and Beach Read. Check out The Love Hypothesis and The Spanish Love Deception for stories where love might not come easy but the payoff is brilliant.
Every reader might find a match in these 64 romances—and maybe more than one! Add the books that catch your eye to your Want to Read shelf, and let us know which stories melted your heart in the comments.

My goal is to read them all 🎉🎉

Where's the historical romance? I've read and enjoyed many of these, but it's hard to believe not one HR made the list.

Josie Silver does NOT write in the romance genre - she writes tear jerker women's fiction. Please, please, PLEASE stop promoting books that are NOT part of the romance genre as romances. 🤬🤬🤬
Hmm. When I see so many by the same authors on a list like this a red flag just screams at me and makes me think the big publishers have bought their way into these spots. There needs to be more indie author representation in these lists, and more variety in authors in general.

I’ve read 39 with most others on my To Read list. Not a Jasmine Guillory fan and there are too many if hers on the list.
Well...Well...I have read a few and I'm loving this list. My ultimate goal is to definitely read them all...
PROPS TO HISTORICAL AND FANTASY! Sarah MacLean's Hell's Belles series starts with Bombshell, Lisa Kleypas' Ravenels with Cold-Hearted Rake. For Fantasy, Ilona Andrews' Hidden Legacy series begins with Burn For me, Bec McMaster's Legends of the Storm with Heart of Fire. While all these series began awhile ago, the most recent book in each was published in the past couple years.
I love rom-coms but my eyes need comfortable print, that is a problem for me. The Chief's Kiss was perfect for me. How do I get more and with big enough print for me to read?
From the above list, I recommend The Stopover by TL Swan, and also The Takeover, even though it's not from this list.
I love that there's more diversity on this list in terms of race, ethnicity, orientation, size... I'd love to see more age diversity, too! (With the understanding that older people can also be diverse in all the previously mentioned ways!)

I’ve read 29 of them but I’m kind of shocked that some of my favorite romance writers aren’t here. Where’s Sarina Bowen, J.T. Geissinger, Samantha Towle, R.S. Grey, Emma Scott, Kate Stewart, K.A. Tucker, Kristine Callihan, Corrine Michaels, Lucy Score, Jewel E. Ann, Karina Halle, Samantha Young, Jana Aston, Kylie Scott, Brittainy Cherry, Mia Sheridan, Emma Chase, J. Bengtsson, Rene Carlino-no particular order. My Kindle is full of these authors in addition to ones in the 29 I read in your article. Sometimes I think the indie authors I love are better than the traditionally published. They should be represented.
Brooke wrote: "the hating game wasn't mentioned."Right? Why are her other two on here when they can't hold a candle to THG?
The two by Evie Dunmore are historical romances. They aren’t bad…"Oh, you're right! I've even read both of those. I think I overlooked them due to the illustrated covers. :-)
Currently reading the Dirty Air series from Lauren Asher and oh my! Definitely obsessed! Wrecked has been my favourite so far!

Lucy Score?
Also interesting to see how the publishers are moving to illustrated covers rather than photos...
Clearly the big publishers bought their way here.
