Oh yesssss. I got one of my favorite romance duo’s books and celebrating with happy dance (I made a change and forced my mother in law and husband dance for me this time which was pathetic experience. They don’t know what the meaning of rhythm is!!!) but well, I got a little disappointed from my read. This is definitely not what I was invested for….

The Middle is Good

The Honey Don’t List is a romance about two personal assistants who find love while trying to keep their bosses’ marriage from imploding.

Carey has been working for Melissa (Melly) and Rusty Tripp since she was 16. Now Carey is 26 years old and works as Tripp's assistant. Carey has watched the Tripp's rise to fame for their home improvement ideas. The couple has their own HGTV shows, written best-selling books, and have a new show about to launch on Netflix. The only thing is

Part of the reason I had a difficult time connecting with this novel isn't because it is poorly written or flawed, but because my expectations were in a completely different place than the direction that this book chose to take. This clearly isn't the fault of the authors, simply a missed connection on my side. Like many other readers, I'm a bonafide fan of the classic Christina Lauren rom com, and feel that no one can deliver a belly busting laugh quite like this lovable duo. That said, I think ...more

okay. so. this isnt quite like any other CL novel ive read before. when picking up a CL book, ive come to except either a really funny story or a really touching story. and this is neither. this is pleasant enough, but its missing that classic CL charm that i have come to know and love.

and although i didnt quite fall in love with this, there is still much that i enjoyed. the writing is nice, the story is well paced, and the plot is unique (perfect for fans of chip and joanna gaines!). its also

Nothing in Life Comes Easy - and that Includes Love, especially When Your Career is on the Line!

Carey Douglas’ life has revolved around Melissa and Rusty Tripp since she was Sixteen-Years old. What was once just a small store in Wyoming has become a TV empire and a book deal for the Tripps about their happy marriage and none of it would be possible without Carey, now Twenty-Six.

James is an Engineer, whose life fell apart after his former company was involved in a major scandal. Now, he
This book was very meh unfortunately. I love Christina Lauren with all my heart and soul but this book was just not it. This book was lacking that Christina Lauren spark and magic and charm that I love so much about their books. We follow these characters Carey and James as they are working for these celebrities Rusty and Melissa who have this home decorating show and a book and they are just super famous. Carey and James are forced to go with them on their upcoming book tour to avoid disaster ...more

Kendall this isn't quite like any CL book that I've picked up (insert hands up emoji here). I've come to expect either extremely sweet touching story or something with humor at it's finest. The Honey-Don't List was a huge disappointment for me and is missing the special CL touch I love!

Carey has worked for Melissa and Rusty Tripp for 10 years, frequently having her design and remodeling work go uncredited by her employer. James is a newly hire that is an engineer who is supposed to help

The Honey-Don’t List had so much potential, but unfortunately there were quite a lot of missed opportunities.

On the one hand I loved the topic. I’m a big fan of remodeling shows, and I can spend hours on Pinterest going through interior design boards. And I definitely love the co-worker trope. Usually it comes with forced proximity, which makes for fun times.

But I must admit, this book will be the one CL book that I didn’t connect with at all.

For me, the main issue was that the plot didn’t spent

I really hope these two women never stop writting!

This book was really sweet, light and funny. The characters were so cute and hillarious that it was imposible not to fall in love in love with them or at least like them.

When I started this book, I thought that it was gonna similar to the movie called ‘set it up’ but the only thing that they have in common is that the main characters are assistant.

Overall, this a good book. I really enjoyed it and I can’t wait to read more books by these women
I know, I know, you might be saying to yourself, but Hollis, didn’t you say in your last CLo read that you were no longer going to be requesting their advanced copies after so many disappointments? And yes, you would be correct. And this time I swear I mean it.

The concept of THE HONEY-DON’T LIST feels like a CLo take on the Netflix movie Set It Up and honestly that’s why I grabbed at this one, all excited, despite my best intentions. Because I loved that movie and wanted this duo’s twist to make

DNF @ 23%

I’ve read a ton of Christina Lauren books and my ratings have gone steadily down with each new release, however, this is my first official DNF. I just couldn’t do it. This one rubbed me the wrong way right from the beginning with how similar the plot was to Chip and Joanna Gaines and their home improvement show, Fixer Upper. In The Honey-Don’t List, they’re Rusty and Melissa, with their home improvement show and their perfect life… except it’s all a lie. I don’t know, for me, it felt

They just write such amazing stories and here is another one!!
Have you ever had a job that consumed you? One where you felt like you had no personal time to yourself? One where you ate, slept, and breathed work?

If so, you are going to relate so much to this new story!

In a story reminiscent of some popular TV shows, this crazy book really makes you thank goodness you do not have a boss like James and Carey suffer through. So it is alllllmost natural that these two find
Arielle ⭐ Cursebreaker ⭐

This was a solid romance with a solid storyline and solid characters. That being said, I didn’t LOVE it. I am SO bummed out to be saying that and it’s another reason why I wanted to put this review off until later. The last few Christina Lauren books have not left me obsessed and it breaks my heart. I feel like their actual writing is so solid and still has me laughing and shivering with all the ~feels~ so often but there’s just something missing that I can’t quite put my finger on.

This is one of those books that wasn't really what I was expecting. In fact, I wasn't sure if I was going to like the direction this was taking, until the next thing I know, my nose is buried in my kindle cause the drama became very fascinating.

What I wasn't expecting, was for this book to feel more about Melissa and Russel's drama, and less about Carey and James romance. Melissa and Russel were like a train wreck that you just can't stop watching and I gotta say, I was riveted to it all.

The Honey-Don't List was one of my most anticipated reads of early 2020. So I was beyond excited to get to read it. This book is sort of a combination of Chick Lit, contemporary romance and romantic comedy.

The book alternates between two first person narrators: Carey (female- 26) and James (studied to be an engineer).

The book has two interesting narrators. But much of the story is focused on another couple: Melissa/Melly and Rusty Tripp. They are the co-owners of a home decor store/brand Comb +

The Dynamic Duo is BACK!!! Christina Lauren returns in 2020 with a romance on set of a reality TV fixer upper show - a la Chip & Joanna Gaines - but the catch here? The stars are not the romance pairing, it's their assistants! Carey & James are trying to get by and make names for themselves, despite their respective bosses behaving very badly and somewhere along the way, sparks begin to fly.

The Honey Don't List is more of a contemporary romance than a romantic comedy, it has heart,

I'm somewhere between a 3 star & a 3.5 star. What 100%, unequivocally worked for me in this book are the characters & character dynamics. They felt real, and I think there's a lot of care taken to set up the relationships in a way that felt believable. I think what holds this book back are 2 elements: 1) there is not enough page count (which a rare thing for me to say) so we just don't get enough time to be sold on these characters going from like to love, and 2) you know at about the ...more

I'm so happy to say that I could totally see Christina Lauren working their magic in this new upcoming novel! The sparks were flying between Carey and James, the two main characters. I really liked their personalities and how good they were at helping each other out.
The storyline was also quite interesting and pretty unique: it's not everyday that you read about the failing marriage of two home

I loved this book!

This felt like a book catered to my plot tastes - no novel is perfect but on paper, this one screams the answers to "what would I like in a workplace romance" and gets them so right that I'm kind of afraid that the writer(s) of this book are hiding under my bed.

The main characters are both assistants to an HGTV power couple, they have judgments about each other that make them less than cordial at the beginning, the male love interest never ONCE thinks about her ass and

As much as it pains me to write this review, this was not my favorite Christina Lauren. The premise is super cute, lots of Joanna & Chip Gaines vibes. I love tabloid drama & I thought oooh, what a great opportunity to poke some fun

I always enjoy a Christina Lauren book. James and Carey were adorable. I loved how she kept poking at him because of the whole engineer/assistant thing. I loved how James really SAW Carey. She was so used to being pushed into one box, but he gave her a different vision. I will say Melissa and Rusty gave me some real heartburn. I was stressed reading about their antics, I couldn't even imagine having to deal with that crazy in real life!
First impression is that not what I expected at all.

I'm gonna look like SUCH a clown because of how pissed off I was at Christina Lauren's last book, Twice in a Blue Moon but I can accept that lightning can strike twice and I have finally liked one of their books again. Loved it in fact.

The Honey-Don't List is about Carey and James who are assistants to the famous home remodeling and design couple, Melissa and Rusty Tripp. Melissa and Rusty have been having marriage troubles for years so with a new show and a book about to launch, it's the worst
