Task #15.10 Keep it Simple

Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen

Sarah Dessen is a GR Author

Yes, there is a theme here - I'm trying to read my way through my 15 year old daughter's favorite authors!

Task 25.3 Reflections

Part A - Positive Memory

My Abandonment by Peter Rock

During 2010 I spent an enormous amount of time with my dad, as I was his primary caregiver before he died from a brain tumor. This book is about a father and daughter and their very close, very unique relationship. While my dad and I didn't live in a park together, there were many times when it felt as though it was just the two of us against the world, and there was no one else who understood. Certainly painful, but definitely precious, and pretty much defined my 2010.

Part B - New Author

The Island by Elin Hilderbrand

Task 30.8 In the Spirit of the Season

Part A - Rolled a 2 - One of my favorite genres is historical fiction.

One Thousand White Women: The Journals of May Dodd by Jim Fergus

If the subtitle is used, the letters all appear in the book title

Part B - Rolled a 5, have been "dying to read"...

Wildwood by Drusilla Campbell

30.3 -- DLMRose's task as suggested by Petra -- HO! HO! HO!

For Part A, I read Snow Angels, set in Finland - in December, no less, so it was certainly cold! At the beginning, everyone is hanging out in the bars because it's so cold the ski slopes are closed.

For Part B, I read Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom.

15.8. A Festivus for the Rest of Us!

One of my pet peeves is rudeness, so I read I See Rude People: One woman's battle to beat some manners into impolite society. I thought it was disappointing - a large part of the book was all about how all sorts of things happened to her (car stolen, hit and run damage to another car, money stolen from her bank account) and how nobody at the police, bank, etc. would help her at all and how cleverly she found the responsible people, etc., etc. And lots about how noble she is to confront the forces of rudeness - I just kept thinking "get over yourself."
