Historical Fiction, stand alone, 208 pages in my edition Island of the Blue Dolphins protagonist is between the ages of 12 and perhaps late 20's...not really stated in the book. historical fiction because it's based on the true story of a child/woman who was found living alone on an island off of california.
E. Sci-Fi/Fantasy, series, 434 pages in my edition Shiver characters are teenagers, in high-school. sci-fi/fantasy because it's about humans who change into wolves and back again.
I. Coming of Age, stand alone, 184 pages in my edition Hatchet protagonist is a teenager. coming of age because he goes through a life-changing event and matures greatly as a result.

I read Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard for the series book (suspense/mystery subgenres) and Dead Beautiful by Yvonne Woon for the non-series book (paranormal subgenre).
Pretty Little Liars was 286 pages and Dead Beautiful was 480 pages, so I also read One Night That Changes Everything by Lauren Barnholdt (coming of age/romance subgenres) which was 288 pages. My total number of pages for this task was 1054.

It was very interesting to hear the history of the town and resort and I believe my mother would enjoy that aspect of the book.
