She wrote ACCORDING TO JANE, the story of a modern woman who receives dating advice from the spirit of Jane Austen (1st ed. 2009, 2nd ed. 2017); FRIDAY MORNINGS AT NINE, a tale about three suburban moms, their marriages and what happens a decade or two after the "Happily Ever After" (a Doubleday Book Club and Book-of-the-Month Club pick in 2010); and A SUMMER IN EUROPE, a novel about a woman's journey of self discovery as she travels through Europe with her adventurous aunt's Sudoku & Mahjongg Club (a Literary Guild and BOMC2 featured altern

Even when the plotting of a scene is giving me fits or the synopsis doesn’t seem to make sense at all…I love knowing that I have a place to play with these characters and storylines. My hope is that by writing about women’s dreams and experiences as honestly as possible, I might get closer to helping readers recognize truths about their own lives. It was this sense of “recognition” that my favorite novelists gave to me, and I’ll always be grateful for that.(less)

I loved their sharp-witted conversations and the way they interacted so believably on the page. I first read the novel when I was 14 and there was something incredibly spirited about their relationship -- I could visualize it as easily as if it were happening right in front of me. It's still one of my favorite novels of all time!(less)

Pride, Prejudice and the Perfect Match (Romance)
1 chapters   —   updated May 13, 2015 06:34PM
Description: PRIDE, PREJUDICE AND THE PERFECT MATCH is a modern, Austen-inspired romance about a single mother and an ER doctor who meet on an Internet dating site—each for reasons that have little to do with finding their perfect match. It’s a tribute to the power of both “pride” and “prejudice” in bringing two people romantically together, despite their mutual insistence that they should stay apart...
Holiday Man (Romance)
1 chapters   —   updated May 13, 2015 06:34PM
Description: HOLIDAY MAN is the story of the small-town girl who runs "Holiday Quinn" -- a charming themed inn that's open only on holidays -- and the wealthy, workaholic, big-city businessman who finds himself at the scenic resort one winter's night...and keeps coming back throughout the year. It's a light contemporary romance with some steamy scenes and a touch of humor -- I hope you'll enjoy it!
On Any Given Sundae (Romance)
1 chapters   —   updated May 13, 2015 06:33PM
Description: ON ANY GIVEN SUNDAE is a light romantic comedy about a shy dessert cookbook writer and the talkative ex-football star she once had a crush on as a teen. The unlikely pair find themselves left in charge of a small-town ice cream parlor for the summer, but can two people — who may have grown up practically next door to each other but who have next to nothing in common — create the perfect recipe for love? Maybe with a little help from their friends and a few sweet toppings… Hope you like this new novel!
Double Dipping (Romance)
1 chapters   —   updated May 13, 2015 06:32PM
Description: DOUBLE DIPPING is a new contemporary romance that was inspired by my years as an elementary school teacher. Opposites collide when a dedicated second-grade teacher fights the school’s new financial director in order to reinstate a much-beloved autumn festival. But secrets, ambition, attraction and meddling family members complicate matters in this small Midwestern town. The book is part light mystery, part romantic comedy and entirely packed with delectable sweets -- including a step-by-step recipe for making homemade chocolate-cherry ice cream!
A Summer in Europe (Literature & Fiction)
1 chapters   —   updated May 13, 2015 06:32PM
Description: This is an excerpt from my third Kensington women's fiction release, A SUMMER IN EUROPE, which is the story of one woman's journey of self-awakening amidst the classic architecture and stunning vistas of Europe. It was great fun to write this novel, and I hope the enjoyment I felt during its creation comes through in the narrative. Bon Voyage!

“But here I am at this moment, a thirty-four-year-old geek, and against my will and against my reason (although, okay, not against my character), I still want that fucking Cinderella story for myself.
More than an amazing, no-one-else-on-the-planet-knows-this secret.
More than anything else.
I want that happily-ever-after ending I imagined, as a teen, I’d get someday. That daydream I held on to as my prize for surviving those sucky years of adolescence.
Dammit, I deserve that ending.
It’s just that, if I’m truly honest with myself, I can no longer tell if it’s Sam, specifically, I want or if it’s the nearly two-decade-old fantasy featuring him as the heroic lead.
So, at the last second, I cop out.”
Marilyn Brant, According to Jane

“This was the dangerous line women had to walk. Curiosity versus consequences.”
Marilyn Brant, According to Jane

“The thing no one understood about Gwendolyn Reese was that she was three ages at once: thirty chronologically, forty-five intellectually and fifteen experientially.”
