10.10 Top Ten Lists
The Snowflake by Kenneth G. Libbrecht
from Charlie English's top ten snow books
This book explains the physics of snow and the history of snow research with an explanation of the photographic methods used to get the images. Really interesting (if you like that sort of thing)
15.3 From A to Z
A. A Bad Day for Sorry: A Crime Novel by Sophie Littlefield
B. The Dead Travel Fast: Stalking Vampires from Nosferatu to Count Chocula by Eric Nuzum
Too bad this book was more about the author than about the mythology of vampires.
15.4 Opposite Day: here:there
Neither Here nor There: Travels in Europe by Bill Bryson
I like Bryson and this book made me laugh, but it was a little dated.
20.1 Groundhog Day
Making Toast: A Family Story by Roger Rosenblatt
The writing may have been fine, but I thought this book was a bunch of pretentious name-dropping the first time I read it. I still do.
20.6 The Twenty-tens
option A: The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie by Muriel Spark first published in 1961, the year I was born.
20.9 Presidents' Day
Even by Andrew Grant
I wanted to like this book: strong opening, good protagonist, but it had a clumsy plot and the secondary characters were broad caricatures.

20.7 - christmas fuzzies...or not
Jessica Z by Shawn Klomparens
I’ve always loved the winter holidays so I read a depressing book.
This is set in a current but alternate United States where suicide bombings are a common occurrence. To some extent the book was also unexpectedly political so between that and the suicide bombings it was both depressing and disturbing, especially when read in conjunction with the real life shootings that happened in Tucson this past weekend.

15.6 Begins With Q, Alex
The Sweet Potato Queens' First Big-Ass Novel: Stuff We Didn't Actually Do, but Could Have, and May Yet - Jill Conner Browne
25.5 SRC Tea Ceremony - Valorie's Task
A.1 You Are My Sunshine - Flowering Tea
Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry
Kira, the main character is a needleworker and she grows flowers and herbs to make the necessary dyes for her threads. I just loved all the info here and made me wish I did not have Carpul Tunnel and coud spend more time doing the quilting and needlepoint that I love. (Of course, then that would take time from reading so it is a major Catch-22!!
B. Tea With Jane Austen by Kim Wilson
I read this fun little book because I love Jane Austen (not all of the spin off books though) and I have a mother-in-law obsessed with tea so now I have new recipes to make and take to her this weekend when we visit. I have already taken the Red Bush tea that Precious Ramotswe drinks in all of the #1 Ladies Detective Agency books that we both love, and I am taking her a new china tea cup and saucer!

Sleepless by Cun Balog. 215 Pages. This is a stand alone paranormal book which fits the category because of the high schoool aged protagonaist and there are paranormal activities taking place all the time.
Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson 278 Pages. This is a stand-alone issue-related book because the high school girls in it are dealing with anorexia.
