Task #10.2 - Orient Express

Nine Lives by William Dalrymple

Dalrymple's book explores the practice of traditional religions in modern India.

Task #10.5 - Chinese Dragon Dance

Fallen by Lauren Kate

This book features...

* spoiler alert! *

...angels.

Lauren Kate is a Goodreads Author.

Task #15.8 - A Festivus for the Rest of Us!

A Slippery Year by Melanie Gideon

One of my gripes here in Brooklyn is when, after a snowfall, brownstone owners fail to shovel the sidewalks in front of their buildings, and the snow gets all packed down and slippery. Going with the word "slippery," I read Melanie Gideon's memoir—which fittingly expressed many of the author's pet peeves!

Task #15.9 - Warm Up

The Gullah People And Their African Heritage by William S. Pollitzer

The Gullah people describes the native black population of the Sea Islands off of the Carolina coast.

Task #20.4 Game On!

I rolled a one, and so:

The Help by Kathryn Stockett

Skeeter Phelan, one of the heroines of this novel, fights against the mores of racial inequality in Jackson, Mississippi.

Kathryn Stockett is a Goodreads Author.

Task #20.8 - Inauguration Day

The House of Mirth by Edith Wharton - contains the word "house" in the title.

Task 15.5 Land War in Asia...
Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand
The book focuses on POWs in Japan during WWII.

Task 20.5 Larger Than Life
The Boleyn Inheritance by Philippa Gregory
Anne of Cleves is one of the major focuses of the book, and she was approved as Larger than Life in the help thread.
This is a big book at 518 pages, so I'd like to claim a ticket for it, please.

Task 25.1 Chestnuts
My favorite genre is literary fiction, especially with a fantastical or magical realism aspect.

I'm moving The Devil and Miss Prym by
Paulo Coelho [deleting it from Task 10.9 (Post #2094)] to this task and pairing it with:

The Third Policeman by Flann O'Brien

That makes +60 for these tasks but -10 for Task 10.9

New points: 50
Grand total: 490

I'm still hoping to finish the last book that I'm reading...we'll see how the evening goes.
