I'm removing the Wraeththu books by Storm Constantine, The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin, and Dust by Elizabeth Bear. None of these are YA fiction.

@Anna the Annonymous Android, the asexual character is Raphael. Cassandra Clare confirmed this in a Tweet. And someone should remove Will Grayson, Will Grayson. Though John Green's Will Grayson may seem to have asexual traits, he's not. John Green states that he is not asexual in a Q&A about the book.

Yeah, I was upset about that honestly. It's the same thing that happens every time I think I find a canon character. Also, I hate it when they're "robotic". I am definitely not a robot emotionally, so why is it that the Asexual characters I've found are? It's like the idea that Bisexual people are sluts.
Just FYI, there is a list for canon asexual characters in fiction....https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/6...
This list is for YA fiction with characters that could be read as asexual or that mention asexuality, so as long as the topic is raised, the book does qualify.

And Room by Emma Donoghue has a 5 year old protagonist, but it's not a picture book. EHAD isn't YA.
rachel wrote: "@laina: Every Heart a Doorway is YA because of its contents - but it is also marketed as a YA. On Goodreads alone it is mainly shelved as YA"A lot of books are misshelved on goodreads, tbh. It's an adult book with a young protagonist, in an adult book series.

Laina is right. It is definitely an adult series. Tor is the adult publisher. Their YA imprint is Tor Teen.
There's no asexual character in Reboot, I mean the girl could be demisexual because she's not interested in sex until she meets and likes a boy but it's not mentioned
I have read Daughter of Smoke and Bone and it does not have an asexual character in it, and is HEAVILY focused on romance. Unless maybe you're counting Karou's demon family members Brimstone and Issa, because they seem to be raising her together as co-parents but are not in a sexual/romantic relationship with each other.
