Kit (Metaphors and Moonlight) My real goal this year is to not care about numbers, to not shy away from longer books just because they'll take longer to read, to not worry if what I'm reading "counts." So I've set my goal to one book, even though that feels really weird!

Maria Commendable and I love it! I lowered my challenge this year by 50 books. I’m becoming interested once again in full length novels, which take a lot longer for me to read. I read to relax and enjoy, not write reviews. Following the numbers game blows.

Thanks! Exactly, reading is supposed to be fun and relaxing, not stressful! I'm tired of avoiding books I really want to read just because they might take longer or feeling all stressed out whenever I do read them. Hopefully we'll both have a stress-free reading year :-)

Maria I hope so. Welcome Friend BTW! I’ve already started dabbling in genres that I haven’t hit in years.

I actually love this idea. My goal was 65 last year and I just met it, so I dropped this year to 50. Makes it much less stressful!

Kit (Metaphors and Moonlight) Mell - I agree! The past two years I also set my goal low enough that I knew I'd reach it, definitely makes it less stressful. But I was still worrying too much about numbers, and I think having my goal as one will just be a good reminder not to.

Sarah I upped mine last year to 65, then lost interest because i was stressed out trying to find books. I set mine at 12 this year so i wouldn’t get stressed and will find my love for reading again.

Exactly, sometimes having the goal just causes more stress and then you don't even enjoy the books you're reading and what's the point? Twelve sounds like a great, stress-free goal!
