Betsy | 930 comments Welcome to the 2022 BINGO Reading Challenge, a fun way to read around the block and broaden your bookish horizons. This is a year-long challenge that can be played in a variety of ways.

Regular: say BINGO! You’ve read books that fit in the 5 categories presented on the bingo card in a vertical, horizontal, or diagonal line.
Blackout: BIGNO! Italian Bingo, you’ve read all the categories of books on the card.
Mix it up: BONIG! Use the card as a way to inspire your reading life. Cross out as many categories of books that you’ve read which interest you.

https:// mfbc.us/m/x2kygpb << (sorry for the space, Goodreads no longer allows foreign website links) This is the interactive Bingo card, where you can actually cross out the books when you’ve read them. Keep in mind each time you click the link a new card is generated. So please take a screenshot of yours and paste it into your post.

Example post:

1) More than 500 pages Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides - 10 February
2) Written by a local author Alice's Adventures in Wonderland / Through the Looking-Glass by Lewis Carroll - 15 March

Betsy | 930 comments Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can you count the same book for several categories or can you use it only once?

No, it can only count for one category, even if it fits many.

2. How do I paste the picture of the Bingo card into my post?

After clicking on the link, your Bingo card is generated. Here you can either save the picture by right clicking on it, or take a screenshot of it.
Either way, you now need to take the image file (most likely a jpeg) and convert it into a url.
Go onto the website https:// imgbb.com and upload your file.
Now copy the url that is produced, e.g. http:// imgbb.com/a/img921/9567/CEBN7M.jpg and go back to your post on this discussion thread.
At the top right hand corner of your post is a sentence: (some html is ok)
If you click this, a dropdown option list appears. You want to copy the one for inserting an image, pasting the url link you generated in the space provided:

<*img src="https://www.goodreads.com/image..." width="40" height="100" alt="description"/*>

3. Does category 12 - a translated book - have to have been written in any language or just not English?

The book must have been written in another language from the one you would normally read books in: if you normally read books in French, for example, then it would need to have been written in a different language.

Carmen (TheReadingTrashQueen) (thereadingtrashqueen) | 149 comments Let's try this again! Got so close to a blackout last year! Local author will be hard as truly local is impossible but even countrywide (small country)... I don't wanna read any Dutch books, so we'll see how that goes, haha! (I ended up reading a book by a German author, close enough!)

Cheryl (cherylllr) Title longer than seven words - including subtitle? If you say no, it'll be a real challenge, if you say yes, it'll be easy.

I need :
More than 500 pp, which ought to be The Final Frontier: Stories of Exploring Space, Colonizing the Universe, and First Contact
and
Food/Cooking, which ought to be The Food of a Younger Land: The WPA's Portrait of Food in Pre-World War II America.

Once I get those doorstoppers read, I'll have a fair bit more room on my shelf!
