Perfect! I didn't know there were stats!

@Cassandra - Please add me for 25,000. 8k was a huge underestimation.

FYI, the page count stats sometimes (but not always) skip or miscount audio and ebook pages. It comes down to the inconsistentcy of data entry: Do you enter 0 as the number of pages for an audio or ebook? Or give how many pages the book would be if "real?" Readers of only physical books should have a good count, others will need to self calculate.

message 103: by Chloé (new)

Chloé (fullmetalclo) | 573 comments I usually add the paper version anyway (I rarely listen to audio-book), and just hit complete wen I'm done, because I don't know how to keep track of them. My app doesn't give me page count or %.

Anyway when I listen to audio-book, I alternate with the book. I use the audio when the book is big and I get slow with my reading and need a boost. So I know which page I'm at.

message 104: by Kai (new)

Kai (uchinaguchi) I'll start off at 10,000 pages and up it if necessary.

Cassandra | 5832 comments I've added you all!

I'm glad that the page count tracker was helpful to you. I didn't have any idea how many pages I'd read this year until I checked. My goal was going to be 20,000 pages, but when I saw that I'd read close to 40,000 pages this year, I decided to double it.

message 108: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Mavaega (nicolemavaega) I'm in. I'll take 30,000 pages :)

Thanks

I really like that idea. It would be interesting to see the same with books at the end of the year.

message 110: by Cassandra (new)

Cassandra | 5832 comments Yeah, that's a great idea! I'd love to run some statistics on our challenge. Maybe I'll make some calculations after each quarter, so we can compare quarters too.

If anyone has any ideas for interesting stats to track besides total number of pages read and average for Let's Turn Pages participants, let me know!

✨ABookGirl✨memoirs are my jam✨ (abookgirl1) I've had issues in the past where a book had over 300 pages but GoodReads only listed it as 5 pages. Any suggestion on how to fix a problem like that?

✨ABookGirl✨memoirs are my jam✨ (abookgirl1) I'm in for 20,000.

If you're reading an eBook or listening to an audiobook, you may need to list another version in your books. One of my other groups uses the most popular English version print book to keep the playing field level. I do the same when I'm adding things to "My Books."

If the problem is with a listing for a print book, anyone who's a Goodreads Librarian can help. The Mods may be able to help locate one for you.

CONTINUES msg. 1536 ( Let's Turn Pages Challenge - 2015 )

Note:
- usually I don´t look for specific edition or publication of the book when I add it to my shelves on Goodreads
- so for each book I will write here the real number of pages of my copy (the one I read) :)

I got a question: Can I just add the books that I have read that year as I go since I don't know how many pages I'm going to be reading?

message 123: by Cassandra (new)

Cassandra | 5832 comments Nancy Marie, I've put your goal down as TBD for to be decided for now. I encourage you to choose a goal - feel free to lowball it - and then you can feel accomplished when you meet it. You can certainly change your goal during the year if you like.

If you've been tracking your books this year through Goodreads, you can go to "My Books" and click on "Stats" near the right and select pages and it will tell you how many pages you've read this year. If not, you can always multiply the number of books you hope to read by the average number of pages of books you usually read.

Cassandra | 5832 comments I think I got everyone. Please let me know if I've missed anyone.

Amanda, you can keep track of the pages yourself or if you use the Goodreads yearly reading challenge widget, you can go to My Books > Stats (in the left sidebar toward the bottom), you can select Pages for the current year and it will tell you how many pages you've read. You can post here as often as you like with your progress and I'll update you. It can be every book, or as infrequently as once per quarter.

I hope that helps, and if you have any more questions, please ask!
