are those hellboy's lendable by any chance?

Canavan | 600 comments Latasha asked:

Unfortunately, the answer appears to be “no”, Latasha.

If you’re at all interested in the “Mignola-verse”, I’d advise you to check out the first trade paperback volume of the Hellboy series, Seed of Destruction . It’s available as a relatively cheap Kindle edition. If you don’t like this one, you’re probably not going to like any of the follow-ups. If you’ve seen Guillermo del Toro’s first Hellboy film, you already have a rough idea of the premise — a sort of Lovecraftian, apocalyptic view of the world as under siege by terrifying other worldly beings. The Hellboy issues are more the product of Mike Mignola’s vision and tend to reflect the author’s interest in folklore; the parallel B.P.R.D. series (jointly authored for the most part by Mignola and John Arcudi) tend to be more character-driven. The B.P.R.D. issues also tend to rely more on series continuity and hence shouldn’t be read out of order; that’s not quite as true for the Hellboy issues (especially the earlier ones). If you decide to delve into Mignola, please let me know what you think, positive or negative.

I've seen the movies & love them. That's why I was asking if they were lendable, to try before I buy. Thanks though.

I’ve seen both as well and was a fan. I will say as a slight warning that del Toro (who wrote the screenplays for each film) infuses his work with a light-handed sense of humor that I find largely lacking in the sometimes unrelentingly grim graphic novels.

from the vampire archive book:
Revelations in Black4 and a half stars!

I had read this short story when I was a teenager & I remember liking it very much. I hadn't read it since then but I was so happy when it began playing today-there is no table of contents. the story is about a man who acquires a book wrote by a guy in an insane asylum. it's absolutely beautiful. I was hoping it would be public domain or cheap and we could do a buddy read but oh no! that is not the case. it's very expensive on amazon :(
