2012 June Pick It For Me! Challenge

When you say "Typically at least one for each pick or..."
Picking which type of water was just a sorting tool for me and doesn't need to play a part in your picks. You should pick at least one book for each of the categories in the rules, most of us have a hard time limiting ourselves to just one - that can be really hard sometimes! And of things you aren't too familiar with, you can check out what she's read - see if she is in the middle of a series that she has rated highly. Or try to fins something that you really enjoyed that fits the rule and she might like based on her bookshelves. Just have fun with it!

Schools Out for Summer! - Select a Young Adult book, a book with a child or children, or one with a vacation.
Across the Universe (Across the Universe, #1) by Revis, Beth or
Bitter Frost (Frost, #1) by Gow, Kailin or
Bloodlines (Bloodlines, #1) by Mead, Richelle
Flag Day, June 14th - Pick a book featuring someone in the military, a politician or a policeman/firefighter.
An Affair with Mr. Kennedy (The Gentlemen of Scotland Yard, #1)by Stone, Jillian or
The Better Part of Darkness (Charlie Madigan, #1) by Gay, Kelly or
The Restorer (Graveyard Queen #1) by Amanda Stevens
Don't Forget the Sunscreen - Recommend a book with a hot cover or a steamy story.
After the Kiss (Notorious Gentlemen, #1) by Enoch, Suzanne or
Becoming sage (The Keyhole, #1) by Alexander, Kasi
I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream - Suggest a book where a bakery or desserts play a role or one that has a sweet story.
Always the Baker Never the Bride by Bricker, Sandra D.
Fire up the BBQ - Pick a book with a story that involves food or takes place outside.
Angelina's Bachelors: A Novel with Food by O'Reilly, Brian or
A Catered Murder (A Mystery with Recipes, #1) by Crawford, Isis
Summer Solstice - Select a book that takes place during the summer.
Summer of Two Wishes (Cedar Springs #1) by London, Julia or
Summer by the Sea by Wiggs, Susan
Gay Pride Month - Pick a book that features same sex leads or has a cover with at least three colors of the rainbow.
Born To Darkness (Fighting Destiny, #1) by Brockmann, Suzanne
Old Maids Day, June 4th - Choose a book that has an older lead (male and/or female) or one that has parents or grandparents prominent in the story.
Making Waves by Fenske, Tawna or
Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs (Jane Jameson, #1) by Harper, Molly
Buddy Reads:
Pick at least one from their TBR.
Sand in Your Shorts - Pick a book that you might consider a good beach read.
Spellbent (Jessie Shimmer #1) by Lucy A. Snyder or
Crystal Gardens (Ladies of Lantern Street Series #1) by Amanda Quick
Best Friends Day, June 8th - Select a book where friends play a large role in the story.
Wicked Lovely (Wicked Lovely #1) by Melissa Marr
Bonus Pick: Not necessary but nice.
Father's Day, June 17th, because we all love a good daddy! - Recommend a book where the main character is a father or a father figure is part of the story.
Forsaken (The Demon Trappers, #1) by Jana Oliver
Please Note: Buddy Read selections are not optional! If you are unable to participate, you still need to make the picks. Just let your pickee know that you will not be able to read with them in advance.

Hope you like my picks! It seems we have similar tastes, but haven't read many of the same books so I hope I did alright. If they all seem rubbish I can have another go.
Flag Day, June 14th The Hunt Slightly bending the rules... Vampire Law enforcement count? (My first choice here fitted really well for the BBQ one!)

Don't Forget the SunscreenAngels' Blood Both hot cover AND hot and steamy action... can not recommend this book enough!

I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream - Dirty found this in your TBR... they meet in a candy shop! Definitely fits this criteria

Fire up the BBQ - Virgin River Both set in a small town America, so lots of outdoors AND in a bar/grill so lots of food :) I really love this story, such a heart-warming tale. I have read the first 4 and it's just such a wonderful series

Summer Solstice - Lacking anything related to summer coming off the top of my head I did a basic search for "Summer" and this came up: The Summer I Turned Pretty It seems to be a really high-rated YA Romance, so sounds really good!

Gay Pride Month - Never actually read a same sex book... so found out that there is a M-M monthly buddy read in this group! June they are reading: Out in the Field so that might be a good one to read, you will have a whole group reading with you :)
http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/9...

Old Maids Day, June 4th - One For The Money Grandma Mazur is such a fantastic character! Definitely a cringe-worthy grandma, but lovable all the same

Buddy Reads:
So... These two I haven't read and were on both our TBR's so I thought they would be a smart choice :)
Sand in Your Shorts - Kiss an Angel something that sounds light-hearted and perfect for a day at the beach

Best Friends Day, June 8th - The Mane Event Characters seemed to be child-hood friends? (It's quite hard to find a book about friends without having read it!)

Bonus Pick: Not necessary but nice.
Father's Day, June 17th - Moon Called I am not sure if this was supposed to be a buddy read? But I have read this already and quite enjoyed it, the main male is definitely a loving father so fits this perfectly.

Here are your choices. I hope you find something you would like to read in June!
Schools Out for Summer!
The Soulkeepers by G.P. Ching. This books is on your TBR list. I have not read it myself, but it has good reviews. I may even read this one myself!
Flag Day, June 14th
Naked in Death by J.D. Robb. This is on your TBR list. It’s the first in a serious about a New York City homicide detective Lieutenant Eve Dallas. It’s set in future and is an interesting series.
Don't Forget the Sunscreen
The Darkest Secret by Gena Showalter. You’ve already read the others in the series and enjoyed, so I thought I would suggest the next one under this category!
I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream
Sweet Inspiration by Penny Watson. This has the lead character as a master pastry chef. It’s on your TBR and looks like it could be good, even though it looks to be a Christmas book!
Fire up the BBQ
Seven Exes Are Eight Too Many by Heather Wardell. This takes place on a remote island, so that’s definitely outside! Plus, it’s a fun book to read.
Summer Solstice
Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver. I think this is a wonderful story and worth reading.
Gay Pride Month
I had a bit of trouble with this one, then I found Suspicious by Heather Graham on your TBR. It has green, yellow, red and purple on the cover!
Old Maids Day, June 4th
One For The Money by Janet Evanovich. The lead in this is not an older person, but her grandmother plays such a funny role in the books that I thought I would recommend it for the category!
Buddy Reads
I have read both of the books I'm recommending, so I won't be joining you if you do decide to read either of these.
Sand in Your Shorts
Slave to Sensation by Nalini Singh. This is the first in the Psy-Changeling series. You have on your bio that you like romance and paranormal, and this fits both.
Best Friends Day, June 8th
The Sweet Potato Queens' Book of Love by Jill Conner Browne. This is about friends and is rather funny!
Bonus Pick
Father's Day, June 17th, because we all love a good daddy!
Touch the Dark by Karen Chance. It doesn’t involve a father, but actually a couple of father figures who raised Cassandra Palmer in the books. Plus, I really like this paranormal romance series as well.
Sue-

ETA: I knew I had picked for you before! Luckily I keep track of picks so I'll know not to recommend the same things again."
woot!

Schools Out for Summer! – I’d recommend this coming-of-age “mystery” with an uncommon young sleuth http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/53...
Flag Day, June 14th –This is a cute romance featuring firefighters http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/28...
Don't Forget the Sunscreen – from your TBR, http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/70... looks like it fits the bill.
I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream – Also from your TBR, http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/70...
Fire up the BBQ – From your TBR, http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/31...
Summer Solstice – This is an earthy, creepy read http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/74... if you haven’t read it yet.
Gay Pride Month –From your TBR list, a colorful cover http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/10...
Old Maids Day, June 4th From your TBR, http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/87... or, http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/81... is a good book about an older man looking back on his life.
Buddy Reads:
I seem to have found only ones that I’ve read, but I guess that I probably won’t have time for a buddy read anyway (although I’d love to know what you think if you do pick one of these)
Sand in Your Shorts- I’ve already read this series, but it is a red-hot summer read from your TBR, http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/30...
Best Friends Day, June 8th – This novel features a sister and other friends. The main character loses the memories of the last ten years, and wonders why she is a divorcing, bitter mother of two instead of the hopeful woman she remembers, http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/64...
Bonus Pick:
Father's Day, – I just listened to this one and liked it. The main character is an older divorced man. It’s not a romance, but a thoughtful novel. http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/62...

Hope you like my picks! It seems we have similar tastes, but haven't read many of the same books so I hope I did alright. If they all seem rubbish I can have another go.
Flag Day, June 1..."
Hi Suzanne!
Thanks so much for the picks but I think Terra picks for me. She is at the bottom of the list and I am at the top. I am pretty sure I pick for you because you are below me.
But if I am wrong....I will read Out in the Field- thanks for the great picks!

Wow! It was so hard filling the categories this month! The first book comes from my shelves and the second comes from your TBR list. I hadn't heard of most of the authors on your TBR, so I was pretty scattered in my picks. I hope there's something you like somewhere. :-) Enjoy!
Schools Out for Summer!- Leviathan- WWI done up steampunk style or This Time You Lose- I didn't see a YA book on your TBR. I haven't read this, but it features children as hostages.
Flag Day, June 14th-The Iron Duke- Mina is a police detective. or The Unsung Hero- Not the best book in the series, but some of the others are really good.
Don't Forget the Sunscreen-

I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream- Agnes and the Hitman or Bet Me- These are my two favorite Crusie books. Featuring wedding cake and doughnuts.
Fire up the BBQ- Garden Spells- magical realism with a caterer lead or Murder on the Rocks- Apparently. this book has actual recipes in the back. I'm going to take that to mean that there's food in it.
Summer Solstice- Secrets of a Summer Night- I love this series. Kleypas writes some good comfort reads. or One Reckless Summer- Well, it has summer in the title. So I guess it meets this requirement.
Gay Pride Month- Long Hard Ride- I didn't mean to make both of these western flavored. Oh, well. This has same sex leads. orWhen the Heart Falls- This has pretty rainbow colors on the front.
Old Maids Day, June 4th- Flat-Out Sexy- I was surprised to find I actually liked this book. or Ruthless- A great older hero.
Buddy Reads:
Sand in Your Shorts- A Novel Seduction
Best Friends Day, June 8th– The Last Boyfriend
Bonus Pick:
A Hunger Like No Other- The father definitely plays a role here, even if he isn't in most of the book.

Thanks so much for the picks but I think Terra picks for me. She is at the bottom of the list and I am at the top. I am pretty sure I pick for you because you are below me.
But if I am wrong....I will read Out in the Field- thanks for the great picks! "
You are right Fran - lucky you getting two sets of picks!
Suzanne, you need to pick for Dawn (Kat N Hat).

I am still off of work tomorrow, so will be running around all day! I will start on your picks tomorrow afternoon/evening....and have them up on Wednesday morning!! Hope that's ok!?? :)

I had a great time going through your shelves! You have read some great stuff and have some even greater stuff awaiting you on your TBR shelf! As you can see below, I couldn’t stop with just one recommendation, but tried to give you lots of choices. And some of the greatest stuff on your TBR didn’t fit any of the categories = :(
If you don’t see anything you like, please let me know and I will add some more.
Schools Out for Summer! – YA - Rules of Attraction by Simone Elkeles – I saw you read the first one, and this is a great series; Size 12 Is Not Fat by Meg Cabot – I LOVE this series, and so did my students, even though the main character is older than YA.
Flag Day, June 14th – Some really good romances with special forces main characters are the ones in the Code Name series by Christina Skye – examples: Code Name: Nanny, Code Name: Bikini, Code Name: Princess, and also her books My Spy, Going Overboard , Hot Pursuit.
For something a bit different: Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran – about a boy searching for answers about his father’s death in the World Trade Center on 9/11.
Don't Forget the Sunscreen – Very hot and steamy: French Quarter and Sin City by Lacey Alexander (There is also a third one set in Key West which I haven’t read yet.)
Also, I saw that you have Call Me (Joker’s Wild #1) on your TBR, and that is also a good hot one.
I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream – I LOVE bakery/food mysteries and romances, so I can recommend a ton of them: The Jessica Beck ‘Donut Shop’ series, with titles like Glazed Murder, Fatally Frosted, Sinister Sprinkles, and Evil Eclairs; Jenn McKinlay’s ‘Cupcake Bakery’ series, with titles like Death by the Dozen, Sprinkle with Murder, and Buttercream Bump Off; I Scream, You Scream (A Mystery a la Mode title) by Wendy Lyn Watson; The Ice Cream Girls by Dorothy Koomson; and finally, A Teeny Bit of Trouble by Michael Lee West, with scrumptious cupcakes on the cover. Also there is one called Semi-sweet which takes place in Ireland and looks very good.
Fire up the BBQ – Joann Fluke, Diane Mott Davidson, and Leslie Meier all have great foodie covers on their books as well as good stories (and in some cases, recipes). If you haven’t read any of these, I would start with the earliest ones because there are some surprises that happen throughout the series. They are all quite good. There are also good BBQ mystery series, for example, Riley Adams has a series set in Memphis that starts with Delicious and Suspicious, and Lou Jane Temple has a great one, with one of my favorite titles, Revenge of the Barbecue Queens. You also had Delicious by Susan Mallery and Mexican Heat by Laura Baumbach on your list, and I think they look good.
For something different, I saw that you have on your TBR list, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society, which is in a way more like some of the classics you have read and seemed to have really liked. I think you would also like The Peach Keeper by Sarah Addison Allen.
Summer Solstice – I just read and loved Summer House by Nancy Thayer, which is a great story of a family who goes to their Nantucket house for the summer, and I think you would like it. Some others on your TBR list that look good: The Summerhouse by Jude Deveraux, That Camden Summer by LaVyrle Spencer
Gay Pride Month – I see that you have the Chesapeake Bay series by Nora Roberts on your list – their covers have lots of colors of the rainbow in them, and it is a really good series. Also, another one from your TBR that has several colors and is quite good is Sex, Lies, and Online Dating by Rachel Gibson. A really, really good one that is YA but is an important read with a gay character is Shine by Lauren Myracle.
Old Maids Day, June 4th - Two books that I have really enjoyed that have older characters: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larssen, and The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield. Another good one that I saw on your TBR list is The Memory Keeper’s Daughter by Kim Edwards.
Buddy Reads:
Sand in Your Shorts – You have Beach Trip by Cathy Holton on your TBR and it looks very good. Also three others that I consider ‘beach-type’ reads which sort of also fit with the summer theme: Lowcountry Summer by Dorothea Benton Frank, Almost Home by Mariah Stewart, and L.A. Candy by Conrad.
Best Friends Day, June 8th - A chick-lit book that I have been wanting to read for some time because it looks really good is Annie Freeman’s Fabulous Traveling Funeral by Kris Radish, a story of 4 friends who go on a road trip to say goodbye to their common friend, and end up becoming friends themselves.
Bonus Pick:
Father's Day, June 17th, because we all love a good daddy! Here are three that were on your TBR that I would also like to read: SEALed with a Kiss by Mary-Margret Daughtridge, The Paris Wife - fits this category because it is about ‘Papa’ Hemingway; and The Poisonwood Bible by Kingsolver, about a missionary who took his family to Africa.
Some of these I have, and the rest I can get, so if you would like to do any of these for Buddy Reads this month, please let me know (especially if I need to get it). I would be happy to do any of these with you.
Happy reading and I hope you find something you like. If not, let me know and I can add more titles.

Schools Out for Summer! - 3 of my favorite YA books that were also on your tbr-

Sorry some of my titles ran together. I am having a little trouble with my computer and I am scared to edit. I don't want to lose the entire post!
Should read-
Father Mine
Totally Tubular

Schools Out for Summer! - Young Adult is not my preference and I was going to try to find something with kids or a vacation, but you have a rather large shelf of to- read-ya. I figured it was pretty safe to pick from there! How about Glass Houses by Rachel Caine - looks good to me. Or maybe, Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Claire - I've seen that one talked about before.
Flag Day, June 14th - Extreme Exposure by Pamela Clare - I loved this book! It is only bested by the ones that came after it! You have them, you must read them!!
Don't Forget the Sunscreen - Here I am going to recommend

I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream - I'm not sure if you are doing the FAC Challenge this month, but I thought I would suggest Sweet Talk by Susan Mallery - works here, works in the monthly challenge and works for the FAC - I love multitasking! Another choice would be Simply Irresistible by Jill Shalvis. I thought you might like this series since you rated the Kowalski series by Shannon Stacey highly.
Fire up the BBQ - How about Hot in Here by Sophie Renwick, you will never look at gelato the same again!
Summer Solstice -

Gay Pride Month - This might be pushing your boundaries a bit but, Caught Running by Madeleine Urban and Abigail Roux is a very sweet M/M romance. Other options could be Hot Head by Damon Suede or Faith & Fidelity by Tere Michaels.
Old Maids Day, June 4th - I've got several choices for you here. First, you seemed to like the first three books in the Night Huntress series, so how about continuing with Destined for an Early Grave? Or maybe continuing the BDB series with Lover Revealed? (Hey, vampires are old!) I had The Gamble by Kristen Ashley recommend to me last month and I really enjoyed it! Maybe you will too?
Buddy Reads:
Sand in Your Shorts - Again the Magic by Lisa Kleypas, we've both read the Wallflowers books, but this one is marked as before them in the series. I would like to read it sometime, might as well be now! And LK's books are always good for some easy enjoyment. =)
Best Friends Day, June 8th - First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones. I've heard good things about this and we both have it on our to-reads shelf!
Bonus Pick:
Father's Day, June 17th, because we all love a good daddy! - First I am going to suggest a very sweet book, Mackenzie's Mountain by Linda Howard. Another option, a funny one this time, Sh*t My Dad Says by Justin Halpern. Or maybe, One Small Thing, I'm planning to read this one in June since it fits in the monthly challenge. I would be happy to read it with you!

Schools Out for Summer! - I promise the hype is worth this series - you should really read The Hunger Games it's incredibly engaging & very well written!
Flag Day, June 14th - You've read a couple, but start from the beginning of Suzanne Brockmann's sexy Navy SEALS with The Unsung Hero
Don't Forget the Sunscreen - If you liked Pamela Clare's I-TEAM, it only gets better! Keep going with Hard Evidence
I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream - Finish Susan Mallery's Buchanan series with Tempting (this can also double for the Author Challenge this month!)
Fire up the BBQ - You enjoyed Louisa Edward's Rising Star Chef series, so check out her earlier Recipe For Love series starting with Can't Stand The Heat - to this day my favorite subplot!
Summer Solstice - Another Susan Mallery option is the next in her Fool's Gold series, Summer Days
Gay Pride Month - This has 3 colors! LOL - I can never get enough of Lisa Kleypas, check out her first dip into contemporary Sugar Daddy
Old Maids Day, June 4th - The first few Sookie books are full of her spunky Grandma, start with Dead Until Dark

Buddy Reads:
Sand in Your Shorts - Somebody To Love looks like a fun beach read, I'd read this with you :)
Best Friends Day, June 8th - You can't go wrong with Larissa Ione, check out the Four Horsemen & their friends from UG as they try to save the world from the Apocalypse Eternal Rider

Schools Out for Summer! – I’d recommend this coming-of-age “mystery” with an uncommon young sleuth http://w..."
Carla,
These look great! I can't wait to get started, especially since there are some here that I have been really eager to read. Thank you for such great picks!
P.S. Did you mean to have #3 and #4 the same title - if so, that is fine because it is one that it near the top of my stack right now!!

1. Schools Out For Summer!: You usually don't like to read YA books so this is the only category that I didn't use your TBR. You get two new ones instead! Daughter of Smoke and Bone and The Night Circus, they're both very different from one another, but both very good.

2. Flag Day: Raphael ~ This one's a stretch, but I really wanted to get it on the list. Cynthia is a strong h, and Raphael is a strong but flawed H, one of your favorite combos. *shrugs* He is a vampire politician of sorts.
From your TBR I chose Dance Upon the Air, he's a cop so thats a no brainer :)

3. Don't Forget the Sunscreen: The hardest part with this one was narrowing down the choices... Backstage Pass, hot rock 'n' roll action. No Commitment Required, hot interracial action.

4. I Scream, You Scream...: I didn't know what to pick from your TBR for this one, but here's a story that was both sweet and sexy that you may enjoy ~ Fallen from Grace

5. Fire Up the BBQ: One involves food and the other (kind of) takes place outside. The Lost Recipe for Happiness was a truly pleasant surprise for me and I know you have enjoyed the author in the past. Passion Unleashed, If I remember correctly, you enjoyed the first two in this series, so it's time to move on...

6. Summer Solstice: Summer has nothing to do with either of these stories but they were both great reads. The Frog Prince was a freebie and a very pleasant surprise. The dialog was funny and the parts I thought would be predictable, weren't. Kiss an Angel, what can I say, SEP at her hilarious best. I can't believe you haven't read this one yet.

7. Gay Pride Month: I know m/m reads aren't usually your thing, but Faith & Fidelity was a wonderful story that focused much more on the relationship than the sex. If you'd rather go in an entirely different direction, go for the rainbow colors on the cover of The Reluctant Miss Van Helsing

8. Old Maids Day: I think I'm stretching it here as well. We have an important great aunt in Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs (another author you've enjoyed). And the Angelino's grandfather plays an important part of Shiver of Fear (I think)

Buddy Reads
9. Sand in Your Shorts: To me a good beach read is one that can keep your attention but not so much that you can't put it down to play in the sand. Lola Carlyle Reveals All looked like a good one from your list.

10. Best Friends Day: Ok, so here I go stretching again. But if I understand the premise correctly, their entire 'relationship' is based on the their friendship. Whatever, I'd really like to read Broken

I hope I've done right by you my friend. Happy Reading!
p.s. You know I can get most of these "new" books to you in some way, shape or form, right?

School's our for summer:Lily of the Nile I really liked this book and I can't wait to read the next one.
Flag Day:Fatal Affair I've never read this book by Marie Force, but she is one of my favorite authors.
Don't forget the sunscreen:Tied Up, Tied Down steamy cover and steamy read :)
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream:A Taste of Magic I was so excited when I found this on your TBR list because I was thinking this book will be perfect for this category and it has some paranormal in it and then I came across it on your TBR. It was perfect! haha!
Fire up the BBQ:On the Island I didn't see this on your TBR or read list, but it's a really good story and half the book takes place outside.
Summer Solstice:One Reckless Summer I had a little bit of trouble with this one so I picked one that I knew for sure took place in summer even though it wasn't on your TBR. This is a really good series though.
Gay Pride:Beyond Eden If you read this one let me know how it is.
Old Maids Day:Virgin River I had trouble with this category, too, so I went with one from my read list.
Buddy Read:
Sand in Your Shorts:
The Mane Event
Best Friends Day:When Blood Calls I have no idea if friends are main characters in this but I want to read it haha
Bonus:
Father's Day:Entwined I love this series

Schools Out for Summer: Two YA books were picked for me last month, and I really liked them: Delirium and DreamlandYou could also try Catching Fire to see what happens to Katniss.
Flag Day, June 14th: SEALed with a Kiss was surprisingly good for a Nook freebie. The Bronze Horseman begins the epic trilogy of Tatiana and Alexander during WWII in Russia.
Don't Forget the Sunscreen: I'm not sure why Fifty Shades of Grey has gotten so much attention. After all, it's not the first BDSM book ever written! Might as well see what all the fuss is about.
I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream: I don't know of any books about bakeries, but Delicious is about a chef, and Match Me If You Can and Mine Till Midnight are sweet romances I really enjoyed.
Fire up the Barbecue: Garden Spells or My Life in France
Summer Solstice: Beachcombers deals with 3 sisters home for the summer; One Day checks in on Dex and Emma one day (July 15th) each year for 20 years.
Gay Pride Month: Collision Course
Old Maids Day, June 4th: I'm not sure if you've read A Breath of Snow and Ashes. It's on your read shelf but unrated. My absolute favorite installment of the Outlander series!
Buddy Reads:
Sand in Your Shorts: Glass Houses
Best Friends Day, June 8th: Best Friends Forever
Bonus Pick: Not necessary but nice.
Father's Day, June 17th, because we all love a good daddy!: I think there is a Dad in this one. We both have it on our TBR and it looks interesting!
The Weight of Silence
Happy reading!

I hope you enjoy your picks. I tried to keep to your TBR list. I love that you seem to read about every genre.
Schools Out for Summer! -My Soul to Take I enjoyed this book. It is light but has a great story.
Flag Day, June 14th -The Unsung Hero
Don't Forget the Sunscreen - Fifty Shades of Grey I have heard that this book is steamy
or I just loved this book cover

I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream -Wicked Appetite this was an enjoyable read. But it kept making me hungry. The main character is always baking. LOL
Fire up the BBQ -The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon This is a really good story by Stephen King. I don't usually read him but this one was different.
Summer Solstice -Last Summer
Gay Pride Month - Daughters of Terra
Old Maids Day, June 4th - The Girl Who Played With Fire
Buddy Reads:
Sand in Your Shorts - Grimspace
This on both our TBR lists and would love to read it.
Best Friends Day, June 8th - City of Bones I just recently read this but really enjoyed this.
BONUS READ- Father's Day A Dirty Job I Loved this book. It was such a fun read.

I had a great time looking through your bookshelves - we have a lot of books in common! I hope you find something that works for you, if not let me know and I can try again!
Schools Out for Summer! - I love A Wrinkle in Time and have read it several times since I was introduced to it in elementary school, or First Grave on the Right, a fun story with a great kid in it.
Flag Day, June 14th - Extreme Exposure has a main character who is a politician, or Guarding Suzannah has a main character who is a police officer. Both are romantic suspense that I loved.
Don't Forget the Sunscreen - No problem here, some of the yummiest covers I've ever seen are on the books in Jaci Burton's Play by Play series. You've read the first book in the series, the second one is Changing the Game but you don't have it on your TBR, so if you're not obsessive about reading books in order (like I am) and would rather read Taking a Shot, it's cover is just as pretty. Or, if you'd rather have a dose of romantic suspense, you could read When You Dare.

I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream - Sweet Talk is the first book in a trilogy about three sisters who run a family bakery, and Simply Irresistible is one of the sweetest stories I've read in a long time (except maybe for the other books in the series!)
Fire up the BBQ - Too Hot To Touch is about a chef and has another yummy cover, or Simply Irresistible (not the same as the one above!) is about a caterer.
Summer Solstice - The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie or Misunderstanding Mason. These are both books that I've read within the last few months and enjoyed thoroughly.
Gay Pride Month - Faith & Fidelity or Caught Running. One from your TBR, one from a pair of authors that it doesn't appear that you've read before, but both very good.
Old Maids Day, June 4th - Halfway to the Grave and Dragon Bound are the first books in a couple of really great series, and both are excellent in audio if you listen to audiobooks at all.
Buddy Reads:
Pick at least one from their TBR.
Sand in Your Shorts - Tangle of Need, the next book in an amazing series that it appears you've enjoyed as much as I have.
Best Friends Day, June 8th - The Gamble is a slightly different take on this category because the friendships are all new and formed during the course of the book, but the relationships were very special. I have already read this so it wouldn't be a buddy read if you choose it.
Bonus Pick: Not necessary but nice.
Father's Day, June 17th, because we all love a good daddy! - Out Of Her League is a romantic suspense in which the hero's estrangement from his father plays a role in the storyline, or One Small Thing, a book that I will be reading in June, so I could do a buddy read on this in place of the Best Friends category.
I hope you find something here that you like - Happy Reading!

Just got home from the neighborhood bbq--will get your picks to you tomorrow afternoon."
Sounds good, Pam. No rush!

We seem to have a lot of similar tastes so I hope you'll enjoy my picks! Unfortunately I can't get to them tonight. I've stayed up much too long already & I at least have to make sure I get a nap in before work tomorrow! I'll try to get your picks up within the next 18 hours!

I had a great time going through your shelves. It looks like we don't have alot of books in common on our shelves. This can be good or bad, since I can recommend all my favorite books to you, but I am not sure if you will like them. I don't generally rec a book I haven't read, but I went a head and did it in a couple cases. I hope you find something here you like!
Schools Out for Summer!
Jinx by Meg Cabot is a young adult book with a light side.
The Summoning by Kelly Armstrong I haven't read this, but I loved her Women of the Otherworld series.
Flag Day, June 14th -
Graceling by Kristin Cashorn I haven't read this book, but it seems to have won about fifty different awards, so I have hope that it is good.
The Breaking Point by Pamela Clare is something that I read recently and loved. The action and characterization is both great.
Don't Forget the Sunscreen
Fifty Shades of Grey by EL James This is an erotic novel with lots of angsty soul searching.
I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream - Agnes and the Hitman by Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer is a very light hearted and fun read. The alternating points of view from male to female lead are very interesting.
Fire up the BBQ -
The Host by Stephanie Meyer if you liked Twilight this story is better.
Virgin River by Robyn Carr is a nice character driven romance.
Summer Solstice
Forgive My Fins by Tera Lynn Chilos I haven't read this book, but the premise sounds promising.
To Die For by Linda Howard features a hilariously self-absorbed heroine. Linda Howard writes great male characters as well.
Gay Pride Month -
Only the ring Finger knows by Satoru Kannagi
If you enjoy young adult you might like to try some manga. This story is both a manga and a novelization. I enjoyed both. It is a m/m romance but very innocent and emotional.
Old Maids Day, June 4th -
Something Shady by Pamela Morsi or Black Rose by Nora Roberts both these books feature couples that are a little older than average romance characters. I enjoyed both books.
Buddy Reads:
I probably won't have time this month for a buddy read, but I hope these sound interesting.

Hi Mandy, thanks for my picks - sorry about my TBR shelf, I'm addicted to free kindle books on Amazon, I look at them and think "they might be great" and download them - I have come across some fantastic new books but also some real duds.
I think I'm definitely going to read at least a couple of them - we have a four day weekend this weekend so I'll have lots of time - The Iron Duke (I was actually looking at this in a bookshop this morniing), Murder on the Rocks and I'm already going to be reading The Last Boyfriend for the monthly challenge so if you want to join me that would be great - just let me know when.
