City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau

The book was definitely better than the movie and I can't wait to read the rest of the series. You can see why they made the changes they did for the movie though, and it was a good movie.
This gives me 70 total points.

30.6 Delicious Dee's Task: Favorite Author
I used Mary Kay Andrews as my favorite author & rolled a 1 and a 6.
For 1, my favorite author has 14 letters in her name, as does Janet Evanovich. So, I read Plum Lovin'.
For 6, the literature map brought up Laurell K Hamilton, a new to me author I've been wanting to check out for some time. So, I read Guilty Pleasures. Unfortunately, this one was a huge disappointment and really painful to get through, but now I know!

(another book I have been wanting to read for awhile now and it finally came off the reserve list...woohoo! (Though now that I have read it, probably not worth the wait, LOL))
and then use "Unbroken" for...

5.10 About The Author
On Writing byStephen King. I must say this has been the best read for me!
15.2 Beginnings and Endings
Beginning: The Princess Bride: S. Morgenstern's Classic Tale of True Love and High Adventure by William Goldman.
Endings: And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie.
15.10 Keep It Simple
Family Meals: Coming Together to Care for an Aging by ParentMichael Tucker. I love Italy, cooking and Michael Tucker - seriously, what more could I ask for in a book?

I read Breakfast at Tiffany's by Truman Capote.
The story follows Holly Golightly for roughly a year. She is quite unconventional being that she tries to make herself a young socialite but can't get rid of her country roots she is running away from. She is a very original character.

TASK #20.4 -- Game On!
I rolled a 1 -- Action Games
The Innocent Man: Murder and Injustice in a Small Town by John Grisham
I read a non-fiction book about a cause that is important to me, and that is, the fight against a faulty legal system which allows innocent people to be sentenced and imprisoned, and in some cases even sentenced to death. I'm against the death penalty and I think it's wrong from so many points of view. The book was gripping, the story sad and tragic, but also optimistic in some way, that in the end, there is always hope that justice will prevail.

25.3 - Reflections on 2010 -
A. Mockingbird by Kathryn Erskine - This book relates to a 2010 memory because in 2010 a student I have known for three years acts much like the main character in this book, Caitlyn. She has Asperger's Syndrom and that is exactly what I felt my student had, but the parents did not want to consider it as an option. They are not working to help him to understand social norms, instead they are enabling him to continue to had tantrums. He has always listened well to me and appreciates that I explain to him why he can't act the way he sometimes does. This book really made me feel that I am doing what is best for him and helped me to understand why he still seeks me out three years after I was his teacher.

Seven Days of Rage - Paul LaRosa
It seems as if people are always committing crimes of "rage" and not taking responsibility for it. Fights, murders. I rolled a 1: Action Games - Read a book in which the main character takes action or fights for a cause that you believe in. Or, if you prefer a non-fiction approach, read a book about a cause that is important to you.
The Autobiography of an Execution by David R. Dow
(This book was approved in the thread for this task.)
This book was fascinating; if you are at all interested in capital punishment in the United States (no matter what side you are on) I think you will find it well worth reading.
