September 2008

Kelley Armstrong has been telling stories since before she could write. Her earliest written efforts were disastrous. If asked for a story about girls and dolls, hers would invariably feature undead girls and evil dolls, much to her teachers' dismay. All efforts to make her produce "normal" stories failed.

Today, she continues to spin tales of ghosts and demons and werewolves, while safely locked away in her basement writing dungeon. She's the author of the NYT-bestselling "Women of the Otherworld" paranormal suspense series and "Darkest Powers" young adult urban fantasy trilogy, as well as the Nadia Stafford crime series. Armstrong lives in southwestern Ontario with her husband, kids and far too many pets.

He won't like being away at college by himself, even if it's only for a single term (as they discuss in Atoning) but he'll survive.
I wouldn't say he's significantly better looking now, but that doesn't mean no girl would notice him. He'd treat it the same way Clay does--or Elena or Chloe. He's found what he's wants to purchase so he's done shopping ;)(less)

Knowing the author doesn't have control over the cover, I was wondering if you know why we Canadians didn't get a matching cover for This Fallen Prey with City of the Lost and A Darkness Absolute? I love to have my covers matching, and now they won't, and

Yeah, I know readers hate that. What happened is that I switched to a different imprint at the same publisher, one that does more mystery/thrillers, and they decided to start matching the US cover (and the US also switched to a new style of cover with this book) That’s what seems to happen early in a series, as they try to decide what cover best represents the books. I think I have about 8 English

More of Kelley's books…
“You forget, darling.
I am the local psychopath.”
Kelley Armstrong, Bitten

“Derek caught my arm again as I started to move--at this rate, it was going to be as sore as my injured one.
"Dog," he said, jerking his chin toward the fenced yard. "It was inside earlier."
Expecting to see a Doberman slavering at the fence, I followed his gaze to a little puff of white fur, the kind of dog women stick in their purses. It wasn't even barking, just staring at us, dancing in place.
"Oh, my God! It's a killer Pomeranian." I glanced up at Derek. "It's a tough call, but I think you can take him.”
Kelley Armstrong, The Awakening

“You were just worried about me."
An exhale, relieved that I had understood. "Yeah"
I turned. "Because you think I'm worth it"
He put his fingers under my chin. "I absolutely think your worth it."
"But you don't think you are."
His mouth opened. Shut.
"That's what this is about, Derek. You won't let us worry about you because you don't think you're worth it. But I do. I absolutely do.”
Kelley Armstrong, The Reckoning

Kia Amazona Oh my gosh. Thank you so much for accepting my friend request. I'm a huge fan of your Darkest Powers books!

message 97: by Judith

Judith Bellemare Hi Kelley,

I only wanted to let you know that I appreciate your work and that you are in fact, one of my favourite authors. As an adult, I particularly enjoyed the series in Cainsville, and I'm looking forward to the next book.
Having read a lot of in fantastic literature, I can honestly tell you that you have a great writing style and a very flourishing imagination. Also, the fact that you introduce the heroes universe very smoothly doesn't make the reader feel like he's "simple" and this is something that I can't say about many of your fellow writers.

It's also great to be able to read a book where the action is taking place (sometimes) in Canada. I've been living in Scotland for two years now and reading the "Gathering" made me miss the generous nature we have in Canada. So, thank you for making my life more enjoyable, one book at the time.

Jesse Hi Kelley, I literally just finished Thirteen and wanted to say thank you for a wonderful end to one of my all-time favorite series! I'm glad there are still short pieces you plan on releasing that fit into the Otherworld, but I'm also excited to fall in love with your new projects. Savannah and Adam have always been two of my very favorite characters and I was happy to get to "ride along" with them for the last hurrah.
