10.9 UNDER THE COVERS- Flashlight Worthy

I read Beach Trip Cathy Holton a Good Reads Author
This was on the Best Book Club Selections of 2009 as chosen by Women Book Bloggers.

This was a pretty good story about lasting friendship but was predictable. The things that the author was waiting to reveal at the end I had figured out really early in the book.

5.2 THE PLAY MUST GO ON - The Glass Menagerie BY Tennessee Williams

Review: The Glass Menagerie is one of my favorite plays. It was the first one I ever saw in the theater when I was 10. I have seen it many times since, and as I grew older the meanings changed. The book was very well written and let me see the play from the author’s point of view. Even though the book is dated, we are still able to connect with the characters. You have the mother, who lives in the past and is a little overbearing. Laura, is shy and just wants to stay to herself. Tom, is constantly trying to escape reality. Which seems to be the main plot in the story. To escape reality of life. The plot tells us that it is better to live today instead of dwelling on the past and fearing the future.

Arow 20.4- favorite movie scenario
I love movies that deal with first loves and the heartbreak and growing that teenagers go through with the discovery of sex and the real world. For that reason I read...
Forever by Judy Blume

The book follows the first love between Michael and Katherine. It is very realistic look at the growing pains that come with first loves and the heartache one feels once they realize the relationship is ending.

message 920: by Stesse (new)

Stesse | 270 comments Stesse - had a busy (HOT) weekend huddled by the A/C with no much else to do but read! (Darn.)

5.4 I’m Glad my Mother Didn’t Name Me…
I can’t imagine sharing a name with a car brand. Having a name that is often used on cows isn’t much better, but at least I’m used to it!
I read The Fairy Godmother by Mercedes Lackey. Pages: 417.

5.9 Comfort Read (One can only WISH that the weather is turning colder…)
One of my all-time favorites is “The Power of One” by Bryce Courtenay. Pages: 512. This is a Big Book. I cannot find the version I have here on the site which is why I didn't link to the title.
I first read it as an exchange student in New Zealand while homesick and physically sick. It lifted my spirits and taught me “First with the head, then with the heart…” which is usually true (except when it’s not).

15.9 Coin Collector
I flipped the coins and got 1 Do It! & 1 The Hell with It!, which meant I needed to read a book or books totaling at least 500 pages.
I read Maybe This Time by Jennifer Crusie (Pages: 342) and Savor the Moment by Nora Roberts (Pages: 339) for a total of 681 pages.
After reading Crusie’s book, I felt like a little kid again, totally freaked out by every little bump in the night. Roberts’ book was light and breezy – a nice restful (and fast) read.

20.1 Bookmarks Magazine
I love watching “No Reservations” so I knew I had to read Medium Raw: A Bloody Valentine to the World of Food and the People Who Cook by Anthony Bourdain from the Sept/Oct issue of Bookmarks magazine. Pages: 281.
I enjoyed it almost as much as the show – but there’s something about his wry humor that works just a little bit better on film than on paper.

30.1 It's in the Cards
(A) I drew the Two of Diamonds, so I had to select a book published in an even year that was on a best seller list. I read James Patterson's The Postcard Killers which was published in 2010 and was/is on the USAToday Bestsellers List. Pages:432. Patterson is a GoodReads Author.
(B) My second card was the Ace of Clubs, so I had to read a book that is first in a series by a Goodreads Author. I read The Merlot Murders by Ellen Crosby. Pages: 286.
This is the first book in the Wine Country Mystery series, and Ellen Crosby is a GoodReads Author.

5.10- Name That Car
October 2nd is Name Your Car Day. Read a book with a title that contains a word or words that someone might name their car if they were so inclined. (EXAMPLES: Beast, Baby Baby, Asking for Trouble, Summer On Blossom Street (Blossom being the car's name), Frankenstein, etc.). OPTIONAL: Tell us why you chose that name.
Bone to Pick : An Aurora Teagarten Mystery by Harris (Aurora is a great name for a car, my car is called El because my license plate begins EL)
