Barbara Monajem wrote her first story in third grade about apple tree gnomes. After dabbling in neighborhood musicals and teen melodrama, she published a middle-grade fantasy when her children were young. Now her kids are adults, and she's writing historical and paranormal romance for grownups. She lives in Georgia with an ever-shifting population of relatives, friends, and feline strays.

My editor is about to send me all her suggestions, and hopefully it won't take me too long to implement them.

Another project is a magical regency in the A Most Peculiar Season series. It has a wacky half-fairy hero and a heroine in genuine peril. Such fun! I love writing stories that have some magic in them.

Last of all is a first-person Regency mystery. I haven't written in first person for many, many years, so this is a new venture for me and so enjoyable -- I channel my very non-PC heroine, and her comments startle me all the time. :)(less)

Two couples come to mind right away. One is Lord Peter Wimsey and Harriet Vane, from the mysteries by Dorothy L. Sayers. But those books were published a long time ago, and I also have a favorite couple written by a present-day author, Anne Cleeland. Her Scotland Yard mysteries have a wonderful and very unusual couple -- Lord Acton and Kathleen Doyle.(less)
