I live in the teeny, tiny town of Taylor, NY, (Alliteration Alert!) though my mailing address is Cincinnatus, my telephone exchange is Truxton and I pay taxes and vote in Cuyler. All of these are at least in the same rural county in the southern hills of New York State; Cortland County. There are more cattle than people here. The nearest “big” cities are Syracuse and Binghamton and they are an hour away, in different directions, and not really all that big by most standards, though they both seem humongous to me. I look out my window to see rolling, green, thickly forested hills, wildflower laden meadows and wide open blue, blue skies. My road is barely paved. The nearest neighboring place is a 700 acre dairy farm.

My house is a big, century

Mason Brown and Rachel de Luca are going to be investigating the disappearance of a man from Dilmun NY in LITTLE GIRL BLUE, coming in EARLY 2016. You might recognize Dilmun as the setting of my first full length romantic thriller, GINGERBREAD MAN. Characters from that book will feature heavily in this new one. (The release date on this has been pushed back a few months due to the author finding out, to her shock and disappointment, that she is not, in fact, Wonder Woman.)(less)

First, I'd like to take the little known 4th story, a novella titled "Immortality" and expand it into a full length novel. I've got an attorney looking at my contract now to see if I can legally do this, since Berkley, who first published it, refuses to revert the rights or answer the same question. :) And I did leave room at the end that could spin off into a brand new round of books, so I'm very excited at the thought of continuing with other stories. BEHIND THE SERIES: The Immortals

The Immortals is a series like none I have ever written before or since, and it is only right this moment that I realize it came from more places than I used to think. Of course, there are no original ideas, but the Highlander films and TV series thrilled me straight to my marrow, and right […]

Hello Allie! Thank you SO much. I love these books too and I think they're probably my best ever. I have a wide range. A mountain of vampires, witches and other paranormals, a pile of westerns, and several other suspense series, but nothing quite like Brown & de Luca. We're planning another this fall, Little Girl Blue. Thanks again for leaving such a great comment!

Allie Hi Maggie! I stumbled on Sleep With the Lights on at my local library and sped through the series in 4 days. I've already told a couple of my girlfriends about it and they're starting to read the books too :) I loved it so much I bought them as well so I can read them over and over haha. I've never been so hooked to a group of characters (and a bulldog too!). I can't wait to see whats in store next for Rachel and Mason, and I plan on getting started on your other books ASAP!

Maggie Shayne Hi, Charlotte! Thanks so much for saying so. I love those books as well, and I'm so glad they're finding a new audience. You know I wrote the Texas series in the 90s, and the OKs in the early 2000s. But it's as if they've been given new life, and now I'm planning to write more books in these series, or another spinoff series. Enjoy!

Charlotte Everett Hi there, just wanted to let you know that I am in love with the Texas Brand series! As soon as i sit down with one of the books I'm completely whisked away to Texas and have loved each of the stories.

I'm now on to the Oklahoma Brands and I'm getting to love that part of the family too. Currently on the second book and i seem to be reading a book a day at the moment as I can't put them down lol. X :)
