I completed Task 5.9 (Comfort Read) by reading The Girls by Lori Lansens (Goodreads Author)One of my favorite genres is family saga fiction, where the story envelopes a family through multiple generations, problems are resolved, etc.
The Girls is a perfect example of this sort of story. Told through the eyes of Rose & Ruby, co-joined twins, it's a loving, emotional, humerous story of Life, with all it's difficulties and pleasures.

The TV show Ice Road Truckers is a guilty pleasure. Reading this book was not unlike sitting next to a guy in a bar telling you about his adventures- some interesting/exciting anecdotes, but repetitious and boastful

I really liked this book- 600 miles alone in a kayak down the Niger River- beautiful language, insightful and well researched, but maybe lacking a strong enough sense of place- more a personal journey than an examination of Africa
