Raquel (Silver Valkyrie Reads) | 896 comments Books in parentheses I am planning to read, but have not yet read or finished. I originally was allowing the same book to count for multiple prompts because I didn't think I'd read so many books this year. Now I'm making note of at least some of the multiples in the same category, hoping that makes up for some duplicates. :-) (Note: I've now managed to cover each category with a different book! I'm leaving the duplicates in, but after finishing just three more books I'l have read all 40 separate books to fill this challenge!)

Laurel Perez | 4 comments Well, it's taken me a week plus to figure out this list, but it was a fun challenge. I actually began by pulling forward books on my home shelves that I have been meaning to read for a long time, about 50 of them. Then I tried to see where these titles could work for this list. Needless to say, I hope to read all of these as well, if not at least half of them this year, as well as working my way through this challenge. I felt like a few of these I could have double dipped with, but what fun is that? Well, without further ado, here is what I have, though they are subject to change.

2017 Popsugar Ultimate Reading Challenge
1. A book recommended by a librarian
The Mothers by Brit Bennett
Staff Pick: A heartbreaking story about shattered people trying to fix themselves by connecting to others, this novel is a stellar debut. The story of a tangled love triangle, a couple of fractured families, the constant pressure from religious authority figures, and three particularly broken souls is partially narrated by a group of aging "church ladies" — the "Mothers" of the title. Not only do they see all, they tell all as well; secrets stand no chance of lying undiscovered under the eye of this group of ladies. Addressing the poison of secrecy in relationships, the damage done by lies, and the crushing realization of betrayal, The Mothers cuts deep, but brilliantly shines while doing so. - Recommended By Dianah H., Powells.com
