This is a list for only straight medieval romance. The Medieval period is between the 5th and the 15th centuries in European history and those books outside that range will be deleted. See my blog for the list, Historical Romance Review: https://reganromancereview.blogspot.com/. Note: others have added what I consider mediocre books to my Best Medieval romances list.

Couldn't find Secret Fire on the list. Agreed, Flame and the Flower's page here indicates it is set in 1799, so I shall remove it.

Not to be a stickler but the medieval period in European history spanned from the 5th century to the 15th century and some of the books on this list are outside that timeframe.
For the ones I've read and know are not medieval I will gladly remove. Those I haven't read I may need help in identifying. Thanks.
I know what you mean about people adding books. I posted a Best Irish Historical Romances list...all books I'd read and rated 4 or 5 stars and some guy added a book to it that isn't even a romance! Hate that.
Sometimes I think ppl just randomly vote and don't think about what they are voting for. lol But what can you do? Anyway, I have had to clean this up in the past. I glanced at it earlier but didn't see anything obvious. If you see something feel free to point it out. There are many books on the list I have not read. Thanks
I can't recall which ones shouted at me and I'm deep in book edits right now, but will get back to you. How do you "clean up" a list? I'd love to knock that non romance off my Irish list...
I think you might have to have librarian status and you go to the top where it says edit after the description.

I wonder why people keep adding books that has nothing to do with the list title though...
Ive had to remove some pretty bad ones from my lists also :/

It is irritating, I know, Kagama. I've had to police mine, too. It's readers who don't pay attention and some authors who drop their books into many unrelated lists. Hate that.
Pamela(AllHoney) wrote: "Who knows?! Silly people."Some people don't think about the list description, and some authors want to spam their titles everywhere, whether it fits the description or not.
Hello, i am searching for a book about young girl, who ran away from a monastery with her friend. Two young knights helped them. then they became queens helpers. That young girl sang or played some instrument very well, so she became kings singer maybe. She was in love with one of the knights. Someone murdered a king or tried to murder him and the girl was accused of doing that. Then knight helped her escape again disguised as a boy. i think that was series of books, and other books was about her sisters. They were all separated at a young age. It's a novel. please help me someone, i am dying to read it again and cannot remember anything more specific :/
I love this list! I have seen many of my favorites and have found many new books to read. Thanks for creating it.
Brenda wrote: "I love this list! I have seen many of my favorites and have found many new books to read. The medieval one is just one of several.
The Congeror by Brenda Joyce. Every medeval book Julie /garwood wrote. The Prize, Ransom, The Wedding,Honors Splendor. etc, look them up!
Emily wrote: "The Congeror by Brenda Joyce. The improbable situations and her heroines who often did stupid stuff had me rolling my eyes. Just personal taste, I guess. I agree with you on Brenda Joyce, however.
Sabrina Jeffries books are NOT medieval romances. As far as I know she has never written a medieval romance.Under numbers 382 & 383.
388. Love Me Forever by Johanna Lindsey is NOT a medieval romance.I think some readers just see romance and totally overlook the MEDIEVAL part or they don't know what medieval means.
Think KNIGHTS people!

Jenny, I am a Goodreads librarian and this is my list they are messing with so I'll just delete them!
The Medieval Period was from the 5th to the 15th century. Please do not post a book to this list that falls outside that timeframe. Also do not post a book that is a paranormal, fantasy or time travel. This is straight medieval romance, thanks. (the librarian list maker)

Me third. I'm glad we are able to become librarians and clean our respective lists.
Here is another Sabrina Jeffries I missed:211. To Pleasure a Prince is a great keeper by Sabrina Jeffries, but it is NOT a medieval romance and should be removed.
Pamela(AllHoney) wrote: "There are a lot more I suspect need to be removed but I hesitate because I haven't read them."I know. And some reviewers don't indicate a date of the story's setting. I spent hours yesterday taking a bunch off but have too much to do today to wrestle with it.
JennyG wrote: "I can also help with removing the books that don't fit the list if that is OK with you Regan."Absolutely, Jenny. I appreciate the help!
Happy to help. :) I've removed some regency romances by S. Jeffries and S. Laurens, K. Hawkins and some historical fiction. There are books I am not sure about like Sandra Hill paranormal Viking books.
I leave it to you to decide whether they should be removed or not.

Thanks so much Jenny. Sandra Hill did write at least one that wasn't paranormal or fantasy, The Bewitched Viking.
I know people like the Outlander series, but that takes place in the mid to late 1700's so it is not medieval. Since it is during the reign of the II and III Georges, would it be considered Georgian?
