At the heart of these books for young adults are dystopian societies.

Bunny wrote: "i really love a mix of romance, fantasy, greek gods, and the main character is a girl. Anyone know any??????????"You might want to try The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter or Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini :)
Why is the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants book here? I didn't read it or anything, but... I'm pretty sure it doesn't belong here!
I don't mean to offend any Twilight fans, but why is it part of dystopian? I've read it already, and I see no indication of dystopia. Perhaps this book is more appropriate in the supernatural young adult romance list.
Nitzan wrote: "There are SO many books here that have nothing to do with dystopia.."I agree! I don't know who is adding these books. I'm going to see if I can get rid of the "fluff."

I loved that book!!!
Yeah, Twilight and The traveling pants...not dystiopian. Neither is the Graceling series or the Gallagher girls series. Who put this list together, lol?
I started this list quite some time ago and people keep adding these non-dystopian titles. If you know how to get these titles off the list I would love to know! I would delete - delete - delete with glee!
I didn't know that The Host, Ender Games, Across the Universe & I am Number Four were classified as dystopian books. I thought they were all sci-fi.Btw Twilight doesn't belong on this list, along with several others.

The Gatekeeper's Sons and The Gatekeeper's Challenge
They're both really good!

Technically the dystopian genre is a sub-group within science fiction (i.e. dystopians are a form of science fiction, but not all science fiction is dystopian). I would argue The Host fits in this list, but not so much I am Number Four.
Veronica wrote: "Where are books by Ursula K. LeGuin? The Earthsea cycle? Or Madeline L'Engle's A Wrinkle in Time (and subsequent books)?"It's number 49 on the list...
Bunny wrote: "i really love a mix of romance, fantasy, greek gods, and the main character is a girl. Anyone know any??????????" You should try the half blood series by Jennifer L Armentrout, the Frost series by Jennifer Estep or the Goddess Test by Aimee Carter.
Bunny wrote: "i really love a mix of romance, fantasy, greek gods, and the main character is a girl. Anyone know any??????????"yeah those are big standards maybe you should read heroes of olympus by rick riordan you can see the story from multible angles both girl and boy
I'm pretty sure this list is called "Best Dystopian Books for Teens" and I find that a lot of these books aren't actually dystopians.
Sharon, if you let me know which ones are dystopians, I can try to clean up the list. I've removed the ones I'm sure of, but most of them I just don't have an idea about.
Linda wrote: "I started this list quite some time ago and people keep adding these non-dystopian titles. If you know how to get these titles off the list I would love to know! I would delete - delete - delete wi..."Hi Linda,
Any goodreads librarian can delete books from a list - however, most won't do so without a request from the listowner asking for the deletion.
If you want specific books removed, you can post in the goodreads librarians group and ask for help there, and list the books you want removed. The next available librarian will help you.

Why is Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief on this list? I mean, don't get me wrong, I LOVE THE SERIES, but it's not dystopian . . .

A good book that includes romance, fantasy, greek gods, and the main character is a girl is a book called Sirena by Donna Jo Napoli. Look it up. I promise it is a great read.

Try the Heros of Olympus Series... there are like 7 main characters and some of them are girls...
Hoping someone can help name this book!:) I read the first and third book in middle school and it's about a group of kids that had to flee to woods because their city was taken over? Or something had happened in their town so they had to hide in the woods And they continued to sneak back for supplies and what not. I wish I could remember more and at least know the what the series of books were called. I would really appreciate it! ;)
Veronica Roth why'd you kill Beatrice poor Tobais she's dead first Uriah I can't believe it ,love your books by the way
Mee wrote: "So many books are not supposed to be on this list!"If you name books that aren't supposed to be on here, librarians can take care of them - I don't have a problem removing inaccurate books, I just don't always know as I haven't read all of them.

an imagined place or state in which everything is unpleasant or bad, typically a totalitarian or environmentally degraded one.

Thanks so much for cleaning this one up!
Not Dystopias:-Harry Potter
-Vampire Academy series
- Fallen series
- Beastly series
- Shadow and Bone
- Me Before You
- Hush Hush collection
- Of Poseidon (I'm pretty sure that's a paranormal romance with mermaids)
Thank you so much for this list! Hunger Games are currently my favorite book series and Scythe by Neal Shusterman is a close second. I have been looking for dystopian finds similar to these amazing books and I'm sure I'll find some more on here. If anyone else has any more suggestions, I will certainly look them up! Thanks again.
