message 1: by Neil (new)

Neil A fine start Amber :o)

message 2: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Yep.

message 3: by Amber (last edited Jan 19, 2016 10:50AM) (new)

Amber Martingale Finished 8 books since Saturday.

message 4: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale I don't like the new format here, Neil. I'm used to going to page 2 as soon as I finish my 21st book.

message 5: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale At least book AHEAD of schedule now.

message 6: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Including the two on the far left of the top row, I have finished 8 books since Friday of last week, Neil.

message 7: by Neil (new)

Neil Are the comments working now Amber?

message 8: by Neil (new)

Neil 53 books already and we are still in February, a fine start Amber :o)

message 9: by Amber (last edited Feb 26, 2016 10:16AM) (new)

Amber Martingale Re: "Are the comments working now, Amber?": Just the one you posted 13 minutes ago, Neil. As far as notifications goes, that is. I see both posts just fine now that I'm here.

If I recall last year correctly, Neil, It was well into March before I had this many books read, so yeah; it IS a fine start. And 30 of them are not books I read LAST year, either.

Probably gonna have a few more read by the time I get back on Monday after I go offline for the weekend when my Saturday 3 hr. allotment of Internet is over.

message 10: by Neil (new)

Neil Enjoy your Leap Day Amber, that's an extra day for reading :o)

message 11: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale True. Also means I still gotta study for tomorrow's Bible Study. Chapter/Week 8 in a 14 week/chapter study on the book of EXODUS.

message 12: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Our Bible Study got sidetracked onto a conversation about a fire at a house Pastor Drew was helping work on for Neighborhood Renewal. The fire made it into the local newspaper, Neil.

message 13: by Neil (new)

Neil Glad that there were no injuries Amber, and that the fire crews were quick to respond. It's always a worry when using any unfamiliar materials, so this reminds me to always check correct disposal instructions.

message 14: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Yes it does. Crazy that we spent so much time on the newspaper rather than the subject of that week's chapter for the study.

message 15: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale This was weird, Neil. For some reason a few minutes ago, they were showing that I'd read TWO copies of Captain's Fury by Jim Butcher...the mass market paperback which I finished yesterday and the hardcover edition which was on the bottom row.

Can't remember what I did to delete the hardcover copy.

message 16: by Neil (new)

Neil Possibly another GT glitch Amber, has it affected your total so far?

message 17: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Only until I deleted it. Didn't much care for the idea of two copies of the same book in my Challenge.

message 18: by Neil (new)

Neil I see that the format has changed here on GR. I wonder if that would account for missing comments while they sorted things out.

message 19: by Amber (last edited Mar 21, 2016 10:14AM) (new)

Amber Martingale Not likely, because we were missing posts and notifications PRIOR to the new format.

message 20: by Neil (new)

Neil I hope that you have managed to have a successful weekend of reading Amber. Are you still ahead of your target?

message 21: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Yes and yes. I'm 4 ahead of target for this time last year.

message 22: by Neil (new)

Neil Well done so far, and keep up the good work Amber :o)

message 23: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Thanks and I just added two more.

message 24: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Am now an entire ROW ahead of schedule, Neil! Think I should readjust my goal?

message 25: by Neil (new)

Neil Amber wrote: "Am now an entire ROW ahead of schedule, Neil! Think I should readjust my goal?"

I would leave your goal adjustment until later in the year Amber (hopefully you might actually get to see this message this time) :o)

message 26: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Yes, I see it. You might be right.

message 27: by Neil (new)

Neil You are a third of the way through your challenge target already Amber. Well done, and keep up the good work :o)

message 28: by Amber (last edited Apr 20, 2016 12:33PM) (new)

Amber Martingale Thanks. As of today, I'm now 2-2/5th rows ahead of schedule. In other words, I'm now an even DOZEN books ahead.

message 29: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale 16 ahead, Neil.

message 30: by Neil (new)

Neil You keep up the good work Amber and you will have to increase your target :o)

message 31: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale No kidding. Currently at least 19 ahead now.

message 32: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Given that I'm STILL ahead of schedule, I'll upping my goal today, Meil.

message 33: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Back on track now, Neil.

message 34: by Neil (new)

Neil Amber wrote: "Back on track now, Neil."

That is an ambitious target you have now set yourself Amber, but a few good days reading and you will soon be ahead of schedule again. Keep up the good work :o)

message 35: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale True. But I hope I'm never ten or more books ahead of schedule again!

message 36: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale I wish some of the OTHER 16 people who have liked my Challenge start commenting on it, Neil!

message 37: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Dammit! I can't delete the duplicate copy of The Castle of Llyr!

message 38: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale I'm STILL not getting any comments from anyone who "Likes"" my Challenge!

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

I need to go view the books you have read as a part of this challenge.. then ill have something to say.

message 40: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale At least its more than some of the others have done, Charles.

message 41: by [deleted user] (last edited Oct 03, 2016 10:58AM) (new)

I'm more of a doer than a talker. One moment.. headed to view your books..

Update: ok, I love the variety of books here. And I'm astonished by the sheer number of books read. It makes my piddly number of books read in my "challenge" look terrible. And I love to see all those "little house" books. I was raised on that show, and it will always have a place in my heart.

message 42: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale That's how I started reading the books.

message 43: by [deleted user] (last edited Oct 03, 2016 11:44AM) (new)

Yep, LHOTP, He-Man, Smurfs, Transformers, SilverHawks, and those Kung Fu movies they used to play on Saturday afternoons..

message 44: by Neil (new)

Neil 267 books read already this year Amber, what an impressive total. I am still trying too catch up with my target, still 5 behind. My computer needing to be fixed and my Kindle dying didn't help with things, but I am slowly making up lost ground. Nowhere near your total so far though Amber.

message 45: by Amber (last edited Oct 04, 2016 10:28AM) (new)

Amber Martingale Charles wrote: "Yep, LHOTP, He-Man, Smurfs, Transformers, SilverHawks, and those Kung Fu movies they used to play on Saturday afternoons.."

Pretty much the same as me, except that I also watched the original B&W episodes of THE MICKEY MOUSE CLUB and THE ADVENTURES OF OZZIE AND HARRIET on the then commercial free Disney Channel, as well as THE CHALLENGE OF THE SUPERFRIENDS ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Challen... ), SUPERBOOK ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superbook) and STAR BLAZERS ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Bl... ). The "Ozzie and Harriet" from the title of the other Disney Channel show were the grandparents of Matthew, Gunnar, Sam and Tracy Nelson...Ricky's kids. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1W6-... Matt and Gunnar.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5oni... (Star Blazers opening, English translation), https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gHOR... (original Japanese version of the theme) and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOzWF... (season one opener of original English version of SUPER BOOK).

Neil: It's called life and it sometimes gets in the way. LOL.

Since the last time you and Charles posted, Neil, I've added two books so my total's up to 269.

message 46: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale I hope I at least meet my goal.

message 47: by Soul longings (new)

Soul longings amazing

message 48: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Yeah. Still got 5 more to go before I meet my goal, though.

message 49: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Ok...how in God's name did a FRENCH language edition of The Clan of the Cave Bear get into my 2016 Challenge?! I DID NOT (BLEEPING) read a French translation!
