Soo =D Damn overachiever!!! If I reach my 200, I'll up to 250 too. heh

message 2: by Diandra (new)

Diandra Ugh, 250? I made a goal of 100 last year, I'm not working so no excuses not to read a lot... and I finished 33 I think? Way to make a girl feel bad, Pat.

message 3: by Darin (new)

Darin Wow! I put down 30 and if I can get through this absolutely boring "The Way of Kings" - it will be my start to 2012. Give me "Kingkiller" or "Malazan Empire" - now we have epic fantasy. Looking forward to Book #3 of "Kingkiller" with baited breath, the best series I've read in a long time.

I don't know how far you are into "The Way of Kings" but it gets better! I had trouble with it for a while but then right as it was due to go back to the library it started getting good and I ended up buying it. Give it a chance, and I hope you end up liking it. :D

Thanks Diandra. I'm 500 pages in and I'm not impressed. It's encouraging to hear that it gets better, I'll keep my Shards/Spren/Storms crossed! :-)

Ciao.

Darin

Jules Go Pat go!

message 8: by Katie (new)

Katie Reading 250 books a year is my dream!

message 9: by Jacob (new)

Jacob Mathias I'm already 2 behind for the year.

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

(To Darin) I love The Way of Kings too. As most Sanderson novels do, it took a while to get a good grip of the plot and into the action. I hope you enoy the book overall.

message 11: by Maped (new)

Maped 250 books ...I could not say anything else, I have 100 and I think too ...

message 12: by Jasmine M (new)

Jasmine M Ok Mr. Rothfuss , I admire your goal and if someone can do it it's you...

but I'm tired of being considerate... 250 books means 5 books a week which means 1 book a day and free weekends...that leaves no time whatsoever to finish your book, unless your day is 48 hours...please remember the rest of us who'd like to read book three before they die, I'm almost done memorizing book #1 and will start memorizing book #2 soon *sigh*

message 13: by Amber (new)

Amber The books are already written they just have to be edited. I'm assuming he has an editor for that. 250 books this year though! Shit son! I marked mine as 50 and I'm ahead, I'm thinking of uping to 75. Goodkind is taking me for a ride this year, hello 12 book series already in publication. YAY! After this though...I've no clue where I'll be headed. I was thinking Narnia...again :/ Something with less BDSM would probably be good after those 12 books.

Margot Amber wrote: "Goodkind is taking me for a ride this year, hello 12 book series already in publication."

Oooh, I'm always looking for more books to listen to in audio. Pat's 29 books read so far this year gave me the thought to add Angels and Demons to my audio list (I don't like to read really good fiction in audio, because I feel like it short-changes the writing. I don't get as absorbed in the prose. And now you've inspired me to add Terry Goodkind's series to my queue as well. (I gave up after the third book, in print. The plots felt a little too derivative for me, although he has some amazing ideas.) They'll be perfect for audio!

message 15: by Amber (new)

Amber They're pretty good in Audio, except I swear one of the readers is the guy who narrated the voice for text to voice on the computer. It was sort of terrible. I'm on the 5th now and the story is really sort of soap opera at this point, but wth the audiobooks were like $20 for 3 LOL.

message 16: by Margot (new)

Margot I now have the first three coming my way. Yay!

message 17: by Amber (new)

Amber LOL. I think the Second one has the awful narrator.

message 18: by Mach (new)

Mach How do you find the time for all these books pat?

message 19: by Cookie (new)

Cookie Pat, I'm a huge fan. Really, I am. But I just have to say this. Graphic novels are cheating!! They can be finished in 30-45 minutes! Don't get me wrong, I read them all the time, but I'm not counting them towards my book goal (which after doing the math is a little daunting). But to each their own, and as long as Doors of stone comes out in a year, I ain't complaining... :)

message 20: by Margot (new)

Margot I think all's fair as long as you account for shorter books when setting your goal (increase the goal to account for the easy pickings). Plus The Complete Persepolis at least is definitely not a graphic novel you can finish in under an hour.

message 21: by Margot (new)

Margot And, actually, I've been reading a lot of graphic novels lately. And some of them are freaking tomes!

message 22: by Matija (new)

Matija Hurry up! ;)
