Tania | 644 comments Hi Roxy,

Here are your picks. Hope you find something you like! (now with musical selection due to the most wonderful DG's idea!)

From Your TBR Shelf:
POP - You only have one book on your cover that I've read. Fortunately I gave it 4 stars - The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever by Julia Quinn

♫ Please Don't Leave Me - P!nk

GOLDEN OLDIES - The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I don't read YA but this has gotten great reviews and, well - you know you have to read it before the movie comes out :)

♫ Horror Movie - Skyhooks

ROCK - I really wanted to say Breaking Point but you haven't read books 3 & 4 yet so I'll say Unlawful Contact by Pamela Clare

♫ These Days - 3 Doors Down

From My Read Shelf:
CLASSICAL Ilona Andrews is actually husband and wife team Ilona and Andrew Gordon. Magic Bites is the first in one of the best U/F series I've read. I've reviewed the first three for my blog
and am currently working on the fourth. (Wandering Hues)

♫ Prayer In the Night - Amici Forever
COUNTRY You don't read much erotic romance so I won't recommend Lorelei James Rough Rider series to you (by far the best "cowboy" series out there IMHO). But I'll recommend How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf by Molly Harper which is set in Alaska.

♫ My Life Again - The McClymonts (from Mo to her parents)

ADULT CONTEMPORARY - Well then I have to recommend Lauren Dane's Brown siblings series. The first one deals with a non-traditional relationship and a woman who is coping with the aftermath of violent crime. Laid Bare

♫ Victory - PJ Harvey

INDIE - Sondrae Bennett is a new author out who writes PNR. She's writing a series called the Alphine Woods Shifters, the first one is Arctic Winds

♫ Have to Drive - Amanda Palmer Or ♫ Lucky Man - The Verve

Buddy Reads:
HIP HOP - Most of the books that I've marked down to get that have been released recently are part of series. One that isn't and is the start of a new series is Nightfall by Ellen Connor. I've never read this author before so I have no idea what it will be like but the blurb caught my eye.

♫ Prelude 12/21 - Decemberunderground (okay it's not really hip-hop but it works)

JAZZ First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones.

♫ Oops I Did It Again - Ali McGregor

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Thanks Tania! Needed that caffeine hit :)

Love the pick theme Mandy. The symphony of authors (classical) is going to be interesting! *checking out Tania's selection*

Because I AM at work, I will probably have to leave this for another 24 hours, depending on interuptions - sorry TJ - but I most certainly haven't forgotten! :)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Dee - IRB - inflatable rubber boat? That is certainly what my abbreviation of IRB means :)

Desperado (lethallovely) | 822 comments Hey, Julie! I had lots of fun looking through your shelves. We seem to have mostly historical romances in common, so forgive me if my picks are a little top heavy in that area. If you don't see anything you'd like to read, I'd be more than happy to try again. Here are my picks for you!

From Your TBR
1. Pop: Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon~Hands down my favorite book in this series so far. It's a very emotional read.
2. Golden Oldies: Dream a Little Dream by Susan Elizabeth Phillips~I've yet to read this book by SEP but I hear good things.
3. Rock: The Taming of the Duke by Eloisa James~Can a historical romance cover get any hotter?

From My Read Shelf
4. Classical: Vacations from Hell by Libba Bray et al~I noticed that you enjoyed Bray's "Gemma Doyle" series, so why not try one of her shorts?
5. Country: Down In Texas by Delilah Devlin~Another very nice anthology featuring sexy as sin cowboys.
6. Adult Contemporary: Beauty Tempts the Beast by Leslie Dicken~I read this sexy retelling of Beauty & the Beast a few months ago & thought it was great.
7. Indie: Yours Until Dawn by Teresa Medeiros~Medeiros is one of my favorite HR authors of all time & I really don't think she gets enough credit.

Buddy Reads
8. Hip Hop: A Night to Surrender by Tessa Dare
9. Jazz: Seduce Me at Sunrise by Lisa Kleypas

Dragonfly in Amber (Outlander, #2) by Diana Gabaldon Dream a Little Dream (Chicago Stars, #4) by Susan Elizabeth Phillips The Taming of the Duke (Essex Sisters, #3) by Eloisa James Vacations from Hell by Libba Bray Down In Texas by Delilah Devlin Beauty Tempts the Beast by Leslie Dicken Yours Until Dawn by Teresa Medeiros A Night to Surrender by Tessa Dare Seduce Me at Sunrise (The Hathaways, #2) by Lisa Kleypas

Grace (bookslikebreathing) | 102 comments Hi Jessica. I've written down most of your shelves for my next book buying binge. Here are my selections for you. It's my first time. Hope you like 'em.

From Their TBR Shelf:
1. Pop : Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte-One of my favorite books of all time. I reread once every couple years.
2. Golden Oldies: A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin --I am not typically a fantasy reader but I loved this one.
3. Rock: Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison--I've never read it but it was the only hot bod I saw on your TBR except for Jace and I want to read Jace too so I picked that for a buddy read.

From Your Read Shelf:
4. Classical: A Certain Wolfish Charm by Lydia Dare--actually two authors in one amazing package. This is one of my favorite series ever.
5. Country: High Country Bride (McKettrick Cowboys, #1) by Linda Lael Miller--Linda Lael Miller is the best cowboy writer out there and I loved this one. Just reread it over the summer.
6. Adult Contemporary:
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson--One of my favorite series out there.
7. Indie: A Soldier's Daughter Never Cries by Kaylie Jones--My favorite book. I love Kaylie Jones. Definitely does not get the recognition she deserves.

Buddy Reads:
8. Hip Hop: Dark Taste of Rapture by Gena Showalter --I've never actually read a Gena Showalter before but I've always wanted to.
9. Jazz:City of Bones by Cassandra Clare--I've wanted to read this series since it came out. I probably should do that before the movies come out.

message 167: by Mandy (last edited Sep 27, 2011 05:42PM) (new)

Mandy (mandypants) Hi Autumn! Since you say you’re a contradiction, I tried to include a bunch of different flavored books. Hopefully you’ll find something you like. If not, let me know and I’ll try again. Reading Playlist

From Their TBR Shelf:
1. Pop: Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake by Sarah MacLean
Trouble- Never Shout Never

2. Golden Oldies: You’re enjoying Mary Roach’s Stiff right now, but I think Bonk: The Curious Coupling of Science and Sex is even better. Interesting to see the stigma attached to the medical research of sex.
Let's Get It On- Marvin Gaye

3. Rock: SEALed with a Kiss by Mary-Margret Daughtridge- I haven’t read this, but that’s certainly a rockin’ body on the cover.
Alive With the Glory of Love- Say Anything

From Your Read Shelf:
4. Classical: I know you didn’t like some of Jennifer Crusie’s other books. Frankly, neither have I. But, Agnes and the Hitman is quirky and great. Maybe it’s because Bob Mayer wrote it too.
Prelude, Op. 28, No. 5- Chopin

5. Country: It’s book three. But, both the author, Meljean Brook, and her editor recommend starting with Demon Night. The cowboy hero is pretty perfect.
Blue Mountain Hop- Bela Fleck

6. Adult Contemporary: Riding the Storm by Sydney Croft: X-men with sex!! What else do you need? Oh, two authors write it too.
To the Beat of Our Noisy Hearts- Matt Nathanson

7. Indie: It appears you have a thing for the inner workings of the brain. Well, I have a thing for cholera, which leads to an interest in sanitation. So I’m recommending two books. The Big Necessity: The Unmentionable World of Human Waste and Why It Matters by Rose George. It’s mainly sociology with a ton of other aspects of sanitation thrown in. Or, Musicophilia: Tales of Music and the Brain by Oliver Sacks
No Children- The Mountain Goats

Buddy Reads:
8. Hip Hop: Dead Iron by Devon Monk
Nobody's Perfect- Jessie J

9. Jazz: A Hopeless Romantic by Harriet Evans
Moonlight Serenade- Glenn Miller

Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake (Love By Numbers #1) by Sarah MacLean Bonk The Curious Coupling of Science and Sex by Mary Roach SEALed with a Kiss (SEALed, #1) by Mary-Margret Daughtridge Agnes and the Hitman by Jennifer Crusie Demon Night (The Guardians, #3) by Meljean Brook Riding the Storm (ACRO, #1) by Sydney Croft The Big Necessity The Unmentionable World of Human Waste and Why It Matters by Rose George Musicophilia Tales of Music and the Brain by Oliver Sacks Dead Iron (Age of Steam #1) by Devon Monk A Hopeless Romantic by Harriet Evans

Megan L Harnett | 806 comments Hi Jenni!,

Here are your picks for October! I hope you like them. Happy reading!

1. Pop:A book that is a must read that is very popular is Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead. Once you read the first one you will have to read the whole series!
2. Golden OldiesOne you have had on your TBR shelf for a long time that is really good is The Host by Stephenie Meyer
3. RockHalfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost the closet I could find a hot bod on the cover but this is a great series!
4. ClassicalNaked in Death by J.D. Robb it is Nora Roberts other pen name. I have only read this one in the series but I am looking forward to reading the rest.
5. CountryI just finished Secrets of a Summer Night by Lisa Kleypas and it is as about as country as I get I am afraid.
6. Adult Contemporary A nice sexy steamy book which are always fun is The Darkest Night by Gena Showalter
7. Indie Attachments by Rainbow Rowell is a fun romantic love story that I enjoyed that not a lot of people know about.
8. Hip Hop A book that has been published recently that I would love to read is Awaken by Katie Kacvinsky
9. Jazz A book on you TBR shelf I would love to read is Tithe by Holly Black

Enjoy the choices. I am able to do buddy reads whenever you are!

message 169: by Pam (new)

Pam | 1048 comments Grace-
Hope you enjoy your first time. I love this challenge because I have read things I would NEVER have read otherwise. We don't have a lot of books in common but anyone who is reading their way through LM Montgomery is a friend of mine! I love Anne.

So From Your TBR (Didn't know whether to pick from your TBR or your wish list--if you want me to go back I will do it)
1. Pop: One of my all-time favorite books is What Happens in London. If you like to read in series order then start with The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever.
2. Golden Oldies: Keep reading LM Montgomery and do Rilla of Ingleside or go and do some Georgette Heyer who was one of my first exposures to historical romance.
3. Rock: Who can argue with the six pack found on Ravished by a Highlander

From My Read Shelf
4. Classical--I seldom read collections so I'm going to shift and say read anything by Jayne Ann Krentz/Amanda Quick/Jayne Castle one person three different styles
5. Country: I recently finished Don't Mess with Texas Cute book--cover has cowboy boots.
6. Adult Contemporary: Chasing Fire always reliable Nora Roberts--a murder
7. Don't know about Indie but I really liked this book-thought-provoking; it was recommended to me for a previous pick it challenge The Adoration of Jenna Fox

Buddy Reads
8. HipHop: I have Second Grave on the Left in my pile from the library. I read the first one First Grave on the Right last month as part of the PIFM challenge. It was fun. This follow up was published in August.
9. Jazz: Take This Regret sounds interesting OR City of Bones which is also in my possession and I've been meaning to read it.

Let me know if you want me to go back to your wishlist rather than TBR. Otherwise, enjoy because this is an addictive past-time

message 170: by D.G. (last edited Sep 28, 2011 04:33AM) (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments Hi Tania,

See below your picks with accompanying music recommendations (all from my iPod...as you can see, I listen as many different things as I read.:) I usually like to give more than one recommendation per category but need to go home now and I wanted you to have the recs as soon as I can. Regardless, I'll post what I have now and if you'd like more, please let me know.

From Your TBR
1. Pop:
Cry No More by Linda Howard. This is a really tough book but well worth the read. If you can, please get the audiobook narrated by Joyce Bean. She did a great job there. Another great audiobook is Ready Player One by Ernest Cline, narrated by Wil Wheaton (this is not in your TBR but it's my latest 5-star and I can't stop recommending it.)
♫ U Had Me by Joss Stone

2. Golden Oldies: The Duke And I by Julia Quinn. You've had this in your TBR since Sep 10. Isn't it time to finally start this series? Or you could try Desire Unchained by Larissa Ione, the second book in a series you started more than a year ago.
♫ All My Loving by The Beatles

3. Rock: Skin Game by Ava Gray. A really different series, sort of a mix of sci-fi and PNR. Or you can also try Dark Warrior Unleashed by Alexis Morgan, which I haven't read but that chest in the cover definitely looks good, LOL!
♫ Crazy by Aerosmith

From My Read Shelf
4. Classical:
North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell. I don't read many anthologies and can't remember any good books written by a team, so I went with the usual definition of Classical and recommended you a Classic. I noticed you liked P&P and this is similar but way darker. Or maybe you'd like to try On the Edge by Ilona Andrews (husband and wife team) or Taking Care of Business by Megan Hart & Lauren Dane. I haven't read them but they are both on your TBR and look good.
♫ Requiem, K. 626/Lacrimosa by Mozart

5. Country: Yours Until Dawn by Teresa Medeiros. You've read the only good cowboy books I know so I went with the bucolic setting. Most of the action in this book is set in the English countryside and the song really fits it.
You can also try Hounded by Kevin Hearne...I'm not sure how much Tempe would qualify as 'bucolic' but the main character is a druid that communes with the Earth. :) The audiobook is great too.
♫ Hurt by Johnny Cash

6. Adult Contemporary: Fallen from Grace by Laura Leone. This an amazing book with a really tough theme. Or you could read Extreme Exposure by Pamela Clare - my favorite romantic suspense series.
♫ Rolling in the Deep by Adele

7. Indie: In the Midnight Rain by Ruth Wind (87 ratings). This is a really amazing book that not a lot of people know and it's actually music related (the heroine writes biographies of music artists) so I think it's really fitting. As I don't know any Indie music, the song below is a famous Blues song.
Another choice is this sci-fi erotica book that I enjoyed a lot. The plot was pretty good for a change! :) Planet X by Evangeline Anderson
♫ Mannish Man by Muddy Waters

Buddy Reads
8. Hip Hop:
Saving June by Hannah Harrington. This book actually hasn't been published yet but I have the galley and I'm planning to read it soon. If you have a Netgalley account and are interested in reading it, please let me know. Or we can also try Dark Awakening by Kendra Leigh Castle.
♫ I Know You Want Me by Pitbull

9. Jazz: City of Bones by Cassandra Clare or The Way of Shadows by Brent Weeks. These are both in our TBRs so it shouldn't be too difficult to set up a buddy read if you are so inclined.
♫ Summertime by Jaimee Paul

Cry No More by Linda Howard Ready Player One by Ernest Cline The Duke And I (Bridgertons, #1) by Julia Quinn Desire Unchained (Demonica, #2) by Larissa Ione Skin Game (Skin, #1) by Ava Gray Dark Warrior Unleashed (Talions, #1) by Alexis Morgan North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell On the Edge (The Edge, #1) by Ilona Andrews Taking Care of Business (Kate & Leah, #1) by Megan Hart Yours Until Dawn by Teresa Medeiros Hounded (Iron Druid Chronicles, #1) by Kevin Hearne Fallen from Grace by Laura Leone Extreme Exposure (I-Team, #1) by Pamela Clare In the Midnight Rain by Ruth Wind Planet X by Evangeline Anderson Saving June by Hannah Harrington Dark Awakening (Dark Dynasties #1) by Kendra Leigh Castle City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare The Way of Shadows (Night Angel, #1) by Brent Weeks

That list is awesome. The TBR is perfect. My wishlist is books I don't have yet.

I read my way through L.M. Montgomery's books yearly. I think I am on my 12th go-round and Rilla was next so it's pretty perfect.

message 176: by Amy J. (last edited Sep 27, 2011 04:15PM) (new)

Amy J. | 349 comments For Kerste

I enjoyed digging through your shelves and I hope you can find something here you can enjoy. If not, I can try again.

Pop
I. The Name of the Wind- One of the best fantasy novels I've read. I'm waiting until its sequel comes out in paperback because I want a matching set, but I am having a hard time waiting. I find myself missing these characters

II. Darkfever- The beginning of what is my favorite PR/UF series to date. I loved all the books and it's such a satisfying series.

III. Slave to Sensation- This was my PIFM read in August? I really enjoyed the portrayal of the shifters and the romance was enjoyable too!

The Name of the Wind (The Kingkiller Chronicle, #1) by Patrick Rothfuss Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning Slave to Sensation (Psy-Changeling, #1) by Nalini Singh

Golden Oldies
I. Soulless- This one's been sitting on my shelf for a while too.

II. Escape- Just in case you feel like reading non-fiction this month.

Soulless (The Parasol Protectorate, #1) by Gail Carriger Escape by Carolyn Jessop

Rock There were a lot to choose from here. I went with the ones that caught my eyes the most. I'm not familiar with any of the titles I chose, but Yum!

I. Men Times Three

II. The Road Taken

III. Double Play

Men Times Three by Bonnie Edwards The Road Taken by Megan Hart Double Play (Pacific Heat, #1) by Jill Shalvis

Classical

I. The Fall- del Toro is one my favorite directors so I had to read the novels co-written by him. A very unique take on vampires

II. Dogs and Goddesses- Another PIMF read. I wouldn't have ever read this author is it wasn't for this challenge. If you're a dog lover, you'll find this book charming.

III. The Talisman- I'm not a fan of Peter Straub on his own; however, I love the books he co-wrote with Stephen King.

The Fall by Guillermo del Toro Dogs and Goddesses by Jennifer Crusie The Talisman by Stephen King

Country A very difficult category for me, I'm afraid. Both of these might be a bit of a stretch, but it's the best I could do.

I. Tender Morsels- About as rural as I get. The book has some disturbing themes.

II. Play Dirty- the "cowboy" in this book is a former QB for the Dallas Cowboys. He's the only cowboy on my shelves.

Tender Morsels by Margo Lanagan Play Dirty by Sandra Brown

Adult Contemporary

I. Dangerous Cravings- Its BDSM so has both sex and violence in one steamy package

II. Beat the Reaper- Violent murders and an interesting, twisted story.

III. Heart-Shaped Box- This book frequently made me so anxious that I couldn't sleep at night.

IV. Choke- Full of general depravity and debauchery.

Dangerous Cravings by Evangeline Anderson Beat the Reaper (Peter Brown #1) by Josh Bazell Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill Choke by Chuck Palahniuk

Indie Somewhat of a challenge, because I'm not usually aware of who publishes the books I read. However, after some research I found some Indie books on my shelf. I haven't read any of these books, but they've be recommended to me by my friends and I think they sound intriguing.

I. A Touch of Greek

II. Switched

III. My Blood Approves

A Touch of Greek (Out of Olympus #1) by Tina Folsom Switched (Trylle Trilogy, #1) by Amanda Hocking My Blood Approves (My Blood Approves, #1) by Amanda Hocking

Hip-Hop- Money's a bit tight this month, so I can only read 1 of these books with you, if you're interested. But don't let that stop you from reading more of them if you'd like.

I. Damned I'm so "cool" that I'm recommending a book that won't be published until mid month.

II. Bloodlines- I enjoyed the Vampire Academy so I'm willing to try other series written by her.

III. Making Waves- For a reason I can't quite explain I've been drawn to this book, and this would give me justification to purchase it.

Damned by Chuck Palahniuk Bloodlines (Bloodlines, #1) by Richelle Mead Making Waves by Tawna Fenske

Jazz There are quite a few books on your TBR that are also on mine. I'd be jazzed to read any of them this month. In no particular order.

I. Magic Bites

II. Wicked Ties

III. Cry Wolf

IV. Storm Born

Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews Wicked Ties (Wicked Lovers, #1) by Shayla Black Cry Wolf (Alpha & Omega, #1) by Patricia Briggs Storm Born (Dark Swan, #1) by Richelle Mead

1. Pop: Pick a book that you (or others) read and thought was a 5 star chart topper. Unleash the Night(Dark Hunter #8) by Sherrilyn Kenyon. This is my favorite Dark Hunter book, I love Wren, there’s a crazy twist at the end that often confounds me, even though I know it’s coming. Downside is, while you have a plethora of SK on your TBR, looks like you haven’t even started the series. I think #8 can stand on its own, but as someone who’s been reading the DH series for years, maybe my perspective is skewed.
2. Golden Oldies: Pick a book that has been on their TBR list a long time. Unmasqued: An Erotic Novel of The Phantom of The Opera by Colette Gale. Typically, I don’t like this category because if it’s been on your TBR for a long time, it’s there for a reason, but with a TBR of over 5,400 books, well, maybe this just got lost in the mix.
3. Rock: Pick a book that has a rockin’ hot body on the cover. Giving Chase by Laura Dane– geez, this was HARD, most of your TBR books either have no discernible cover or they have women’s faces on them. But I finally found one by an author I know and a series that I’ve actually been wanting to read myself.

From Your Read Shelf:
4. Classical: Recommend a book written by a symphony of authors (more than one). Whispered Lies by Sherrilyn Kenyon and Dianna Love. I don’t read many books written by more than one author, so…this is what I got.
5. Country: Recommend a book that features a cowboy/cowgirl or a book that has a bucolic setting. One Fine Cowboy by Joanne Kennedy or Zack by Cheyenne McCray
6. Adult Contemporary: Recommend a book with an adult theme (sex, violence, drugs, murder). Bound to Please by Lilli Feisty – going with the adult music theme. I read this one in a single, very late, night.
7. Indie: Recommend a book by an independent author or a book you don’t think gets enough airplay. Vampires Rule by K.C. Blake or Backstage Pass by Olivia Cunning (another band story)

Buddy Reads:
8. Hip Hop: Show that you’re hip and in the know by choosing a book that has been published within the last three months. Changing the Game by Jaci Burton
9. Jazz: Choose a book off their TBR shelf that you would be jazzed to read. Okay, so it’s not a romance, but I’d be jazzed to read: The Book of Awesome: Snow Days, Bakery Air, Finding Money in Your Pocket, and Other Simple, Brilliant Things by Neil Pasricha. Sound like just what I need to combat my government job.

~KarenH~ | 11334 comments Hi, Amanda!

This was a little tougher than usual since you have almost nothing on your TBR, so I hope I managed to find something that will work for you. If not, let me know and I'll take another shot at it! :)

From Their TBR Shelf:
1. Pop: Simply Irresistible You have the third book in this series, Head Over Heels, on your TBR but it hasn't been released yet, and it doesn't look like you've read the first two books in the series. Do yourself a favor and read this one, it's just plain fun.
2. Golden Oldies: Harbor Lights One of the few books on your TBR, it hasn't been on there for a long time, but it was released a couple of years ago so I figured it would qualify!
3. Rock: No hot covers on your TBR, so I tried to come up with a couple that I thought you might like, based on what you've read. When You Dare is a straight Romantic Suspense, and Dark Protector is a paranormal about a band of warriors who protect humans from invaders from an alternate reality.

From Your Read Shelf:
4. Classical: Caught Running is the best book I've read in quite a while that has multiple authors, but it is M/M, so not knowing how you feel about that I figured I'd better give you another choice. I'm rushing the season a bit with That Holiday Feeling, but it has authors that you've read and enjoyed, so I hope you'll like this one, too.
5. Country: No cowboys, but Virgin River has the most bucolic setting I can imagine - not to mention it's a great book and the beginning of a wonderful series. If you want a cowboy , you could try Logan.
6. Adult Contemporary: Out Of Her League is an excellent book about an Olympic athlete who is being tormented by a stalker.
7. Indie: Out of Time is a time travel romance (with a few vampires thrown in) set in the 1920s.

Buddy Reads:
Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to do a buddy read this month, but here are your picks for those categories:
8. Hip Hop: Only His is one of the few books on your TBR, but I didn't see that you'd read the 4th book in the series so if in case you'd rather read Only Mine, I'll recommend it too.
9. Jazz: There's nothing left on your TBR, so I decided to recommend one that I love and thought you might like too based on what you've read. I don't have words for how much I love Baby Love. It's one of my go-to books when I really need an emotional, feel-good book.

I hope you can find something here that you like!

I tried to give you a wide variety of choices. I know how it is to be "in the mood" for a certain book. So I hope you find something that tickles your fancy. :)

FROM YOUR TBR SHELF:
1) POP - Halfway to the Grave - I haven't read this one but it has lots of 5 stars. (PNR)
2) GOLDEN OLDIES - Awakened by a Kiss - This is the first of this series and I would love to read this one myself. Love fairy tale stories. I just saw last week something about this author and wrote down her name to try her books. (Fairy Tale)
3) ROCK - Giving Chase - I'm not familiar with this one either, but good grief, does the cover guy have pecs and abs! (Contemp. Rom.)

FROM MY READ SHELF:
4) CLASSICAL - Redemption - This is the first book of this wonderful series. I can't say enough about how excellent these books are. (Contemp. Christian)
5) COUNTRY - The Touch Of Fire - I was surprised by how few "cowboy" books I had. But this one surely makes up for the lack of them. Woohoo, what a book. One of my highest rated ones. (Hist. Fict.)
6) ADULT CONTEMP. - Obsession - This one fits all the requirements and then some. I rediscovered this author after many years and was totally wowwed. This book will capture you from the very beginning and keep you guessing until the end. Very fast paced, so catch your breath. (Contemp Romance/Suspense)
7) INDIE - The Secret History of the Pink Carnation - I found this treasure by accident in the library just by combing the shelves for something one day. I'm so glad I found this series. It starts in modern day U.S/England and then progesses to the story in the past through a group of letters. It has mystery, suspense, romance and history. Loved it! (Contemp. to Hist. Romance)

BUDDY READS:
8) HIP HOP - Beauty Queens - I read a series by this author this year and would love to read this stand alone. If you aren't familiar with her, give her a try. (Contemp)
Escape - I added this choice also, it looks too good to pass up. (Contemp)
9) JAZZ - The Hunger Games - I've heard a lot about this book. I'm not familiar with the author and have little experience with futuristic stories, but I'd love to try this together to see how it goes. (Futuristic)

Happy pickings!!!
Julie

Nairabell | 433 comments Hi Polina :) I hope you like the books I've picked, if not give me a shout and I'll find some others.

From Your TBR Shelf:
1. Pop: Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins
I read this last year and loved it, although I haven't added my review to GR yet. It's a fun read and as a YA fan I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did.

2. Golden Oldies: Forever by Maggie Stiefvater
This is one of the oldest books on your TBR, and I almost put it as the 'Pop' book because I loved it. You enjoyed the first two so hopefully this will be a good read too.

3. Rock: Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison
There weren't many choices for this on your TBR, but I've seen some great quotes from this one.

Hex Hall (Hex Hall, #1) by Rachel Hawkins Forever (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #3) by Maggie Stiefvater Dragon Bound (Elder Races, #1) by Thea Harrison

From My Read Shelf:
4. Classical: Dead After Dark Anthology
I noticed you're a fan of the BDB books (who isn't?) and I think you may enjoy this. It has a great story from J.R. Ward.

5. Country: Need by Carrie Jones
This is about as bucolic as my reading gets - it's set in the middle of nowhere, Maine. It's another YA with a focus on pixies that I really enjoyed.

6. Adult Contemporary: Bitten by Kelley Armstrong
I noticed you enjoyed the Darkest Powers trilogy. This is set in the same world but is way more adult so it fits well for this category.

7. Indie: Death's Daughter by Amber Benson
I had no idea what to pick for you here, so I settled on this. It's written by Tara from Buffy and it doesn't seem widely known. It's great fun though :)

Dead After Dark (Includes Dark-Hunter, #16.1) by Sherrilyn Kenyon Need (Need, #1) by Carrie Jones Bitten (Women of the Otherworld, #1) by Kelley Armstrong Death's Daughter (Calliope Reaper-Jones, #1) by Amber Benson

Buddy Reads
8. Hip Hop: One Grave at a Time by Jeaniene Frost
I recently read the first 4 in the series and loved them so I really want to read this.
9. Jazz: The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks
This is the only book we both have on our TBR shelves so I decided to put it here :)

One Grave at a Time (Night Huntress, #6) by Jeaniene Frost The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks

I may not be able to do the buddy reads. Turns out my sister doesn't have childcare sorted for my niece, and she starts university tomorrow which means I'm likely to be spending most of the month chasing after a 10 month old baby.

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) | 280 comments Hey Photojim,

Ok, this was my first attempt at this and it was a bit more challenging than I expected. So hopefully there is something here that works for you.

From your TBR Shelf:
Ok, your killing me here no TBR pile? So many books to read and you can't put a couple out here to help a girl out? Soooooo anyway I based these off your most read authors instead of your TBR.
1. Pop: Already Home, Susan Mallery
2. Golden Oldies: Virtual Mode, Piers Anthony
3. Rock: The Darkest Night, Gena Showalter- This series is 100 times better than the Altantis book.

From My Read Shelf:
4. Classical: Recommend a book written by a symphony of authors (more than one).
Blood Trinityby Sherrilyn Kenyon, Dianna Love
5. Country:
This was pretty hard, I don't have any "cowboy" stories listed. The only close to cowboy I have is Retribution, but as I already reccomended one of her books and it is number 20 in a series you have read 1 of, I feel that is a poor choice. So I am going to go with How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf it is small town, Alaska. That is about as rural as my read pile gets.
6. Adult Contemporary: Destiny Kills by Keri Arthur Well it has sex, violence, and, murder
>7. Indie: I don't have any "indie" authors in my "read" list so this was hard too. A book I don’t think gets enough airplay is The Host, more people are interested in her other works not this one and if is great!

Buddy Reads:
8. Hip Hop:
Home Improvement: Undead Edition
9. Jazz: I am going to continue to ponder this but right now I am drawing a blank.

Larissa | 138 comments Diane Whitney,

From Their TBR Shelf:
1. Pop:
Since there was no book in your TBR shelf that I’ve also read, I’ll recommend you A Game of Thrones for that’s it’s been so well rated and seems to go with both our tastes.
2. Golden Oldies: Jane Eyre is in your TBR since 2009, so I guess that if you want to get it over, now it’s the perfect time.
3. Rock: Both Surrender and Covet seems like a good *swoon* read.

From Your Read Shelf:
4. Classical:
Magic Bites is written by a husband (Andrew) and a wife (Ilona). Hope you enjoy it.
5. Country: I’ll recommend How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf in which the main character, Mo, gives up her job and life in a big city to live in a small town, in Alaska. It’s a quick and very fun read!
6. Adult Contemporary: Halfway to the Grave. I completely recommend this series. It has you involved and panting for more in no time at all. Cat is such a strong and funny main character and Bones… well, read and see... *sigh*
7. Indie: Untamed. Not usually known, but totally worth it.

Buddy Reads:
8. Hip Hop:
Anna Dressed in Blood. This book got my attention for having such an original plot. I’m really curious to learn what happens in it.
9. Jazz: First Grave on the Right. The summary reminded me of a YA series that I’m very fond of, with the seeing the dead part and sarcastic commentaries, so I’m quite willing to try and read it.
---

I hope you can find at least one book that you enjoy. As for the Buddy Read, let me know what you think about it :)
Happy reading!

KarenF (cleocleveland) | 1099 comments Hi Mandy!

Oooh, I feel some pressure picking for our fab hostess so I'm just diving right in. :) And I went overboard as usual - Let me know if I've gone horribly wrong.

From Your TBR

Pop: Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison - Believe the hype! One of the best PNR books I read this year, or at all.

If that doesn't float your boat how about: The Duke And I by Julia Quinn - This was not quite a 5* read for me but it was close. And it's the start to a series that did have a few 5*s in it.

Golden Oldies: When You Are Engulfed in Flames by David Sedaris - I've never read this one but some of his other books cracked me up.

Or if you're feeling more fiction-minded: His Majesty's Dragon by Naomi Novik - I always hear good things about this one too.

Rock: The Darkest Hour by Maya Banks - I'm usually not the gun and badge type but anything he has can and will be held against me.

Dragon Bound (Elder Races, #1) by Thea Harrison The Duke And I (Bridgertons, #1) by Julia Quinn When You Are Engulfed in Flames by David Sedaris His Majesty's Dragon (Temeraire, #1) by Naomi Novik The Darkest Hour (KGI, #1) by Maya Banks

From My Read Shelf

Classical: Wild & Steamy - I'm kind of cheating here since I don't read many anthologies but this on my to-read shelf and it's got a Constable Newberry story!

From my actual read shelf: On the Prowl - The Briggs story is excellent and the Karen Chance story is pretty good too.

Country: High Country Bride (McKettrick Cowboys, #1) by Linda Lael Miller - I read this for a featured author challenge a couple of months ago and enjoyed it way more than I thought I would

Or if you'd prefer your countryside English: Goddess of the Hunt by Tessa Dare - Charming and fun "brother's best friend" romance.

Adult Contemporary: Fool Moon by Jim Butcher - Always with it's share of violence the Dresden series gets progressively better with each book.

For straight adult themes with no supernatural chaser: The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson - It starts a little slow but once the story gets going it's an avalanche of violence, sex and intrigue.

Or if you want adult themes with an HEA: Pleasure Unbound by Larissa Ione - The start of an awesome PNR series that's full of angst, humor, violence and hot sex - occasionally those things are happening at the same time.

Indie: I admit, I'm too lazy to research so I don't really read much on the indie side. So I'm going with a couple of authors I think are underrated.

Eve Silver - She wrote some excellent Gothics Seduced by A Stranger being one that would be good for Halloween and she also has a PNR series that I like much better than a lot of others that get more hype. The first book is: Sins of the Heart

C.S. Harris writes the Sebastian St. Cyr historical mystery series. It's truly a mystery series, not a romance but I swoon over Sebastian anyway. The first book is: What Angels Fear

Wild & Steamy (Includes Iron Seas #0.4; The Disillusionists Trilogy #2.5) by Meljean Brook On the Prowl (includes Alpha & Omega #0.5 World of the Lupi #3.5 Monère #4 Dorina Basarab #1.1) by Patricia Briggs High Country Bride (McKettrick Cowboys, #1) (McKettricks, #1) by Linda Lael Miller Goddess of the Hunt (The Wanton Dairymaid Trilogy, #1) by Tessa Dare Fool Moon (The Dresden Files #2) by Jim Butcher The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium, #1) by Stieg Larsson Pleasure Unbound (Demonica, #1) by Larissa Ione Seduced by A Stranger by Eve Silver Sins of the Heart (Otherkin, #1) by Eve Silver What Angels Fear (Sebastian St. Cyr, #1) by C.S. Harris

Buddy Reads

Hip Hop: It looks like we've both read every JR Ward book except the latest: Envy

Jazz: Hexed by Kevin Hearne - You liked Hounded; I liked Hounded and this is definitely "on deck" for me.

Feed by Mira Grant - Nothing says the coming of fall and Halloween like zombies! I've been meaning to get to this one forever too.

Envy (The Fallen Angels, #3) by J.R. Ward Hexed (Iron Druid Chronicles, #2) by Kevin Hearne Feed (Newsflesh Trilogy #1) by Mira Grant

Happy Reading!

Here you go - hopefully one of these works for you!

1. Pop - Some Girls Bite (Chloe Neill) - Urban Fantasy set in Chicago...I'm waiting rather impatiently for book 5 that is due out in November; or Pleasure Unbound (Larissa Ione) - omg, sexy demons/vamps set in a demon hospital. LI has gone on my auto-buy list now.

2. Golden Oldies - Odd Thomas (Dean Koontz) - i've never read him, but heard good things; The Princess Bride (William Goldman) - I just read this book this last month and it was interesting comparing it to the movie; The White Queen (Phillipa Gregory) - i've heard good things about this series, but never read them.

3. Rock Kiss and Tell (Bloodmates, #1) by Sandy Lynn or Trial by Fire (Firefighters of Station Five, #1) by Jo Davis - need I say more ;)

4. Classical - Burning Up - paranormal/urban fantasy - this is the book that made me want to read the Iron Duke or Wild & Steamy

5. Country - You don't have any Lorelei James on your shelves that I saw - the first one in the series is technically Long Hard Ride, but Cowgirl Up and Ride is one of my favorite in the series; or try Nate or The Bounty (Beth Williamson) - two different series by Beth Williamson, both historicals, one set post Civil War (Nate) and the other I love because the female is the one who is being hunted by the Bounty Hunter.

6. Adult Contemporary - Snow Angels - deep, dark and disturbing thriller set in Finland. Book 2 in the series is currently out and book 3 due out next year.

7. Indie - One, Two ... He is coming for you - I grabbed this one because someone recommended it to me as a nordic thriller and it was only 99 cents on kindle (if you have it) - otherwise, I think smashwords carries it. Or Angel Warriors - Stephani Hecht - I love that you had this book on your to-read - I loved it and look forward to reading more in the series.

8. Hip Hop - In Bed with a Highlander (Maya Banks) or Too Hot To Touch (Louisa Edwards)

9. Jazz - The Keeper - i'm actually doing a buddy read of this in another group next month, so would love to have you join in ;) or The Harlot - this one just looks really interesting.

2. Golden Oldies: Pick a book that has been on their TBR list a long time. One for the Money by Janet Evanovich This series is cute and funny. (and the movie is coming out in January…can’t wait! I think Kathleen Heigl will make an amazing Stephanie Plumm.)
3. Rock: Pick a book that has a rockin’ hot body on the cover. Night Pleasures by Sherrilyn Kenyon This is book one of a PNR series.

From Your Read Shelf:
4. Classical: Recommend a book written by a symphony of authors (more than one). Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews (actually husband/wife team) Fabulous urban fantasy series!
5. Country: Recommend a book that features a cowboy/cowgirl or a book that has a bucolic setting. A Matter of Class by Mary Balogh (set on a country estate) This is kind of a quick read but I really enjoyed it
6. Adult Contemporary: Recommend a book with an adult theme (sex, violence, drugs, murder etc). Deadly Fear by Cynthia Eden This is a suspenseful romance….has sex and violence
7. Indie: Recommend a book by an independent author or a book you don’t think gets enough airplay. Talk of the Town by Karen Hawkins She is not known for her contemporary romance but this well done. It has a lot in common with Carly Phillips and I see you’re read and enjoyed some of her books.

Buddy Reads:
8. Hip Hop: Show that you’re hip and in the know by choosing a book that has been published within the last three months. One Grave at a Time by Jeaniene Frost I love this series and it looks like you’ve enjoyed them also.
9. Jazz: Choose a book off their TBR shelf that you would be jazzed to read. Giving Chase by Lauren Dane I have read some other books by her and would love to start this series as well.
