FlibBityFLooB Coffeentea,

I had fun looking through your shelves to see what books you had hadn't read yet that I thought you might like :)

1. My last 5 star book that you haven't read:
Yours Until Dawn by Teresa Medeiros
This was the last 5 star book that I read that you haven't read yet (and that wasn't in the middle of a series you haven't started)... It also had a big twist I didn't see coming. It's historical, and I know you don't have many historicals on your shelves, but I still recommend it :)

2. Your TBR list:
Love in the Time of Dragons by Katie MacAlister
I always love Katie's humor, and I see you've read the Aisling Grey and Silver Dragons series...

**Top Pick**3. Totally New to You:
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
I saw that you like both fantasy/sci-fi. This series is young-adult, and it's one of my favorite trilogies that I have ever read. Definitely recommend!

4. A book I want to read but haven't read yet:
The Spellman Files by Lisa Lutz
I saw that you like mysteries. This book came highly recommended to me, but I havne't had a chance to read it yet. I gave my dad a copy for Christmas and he said it was amusing.

5. Surprise Pleasure for Me:
One for the Money by Janet Evanovich
When I first read the description for this book, I nearly put it back on the library shelf. However, with all the rave reviews I read, I decided to give it a try. The Stephanie Plum series is one of my favorites. It's got humor, romance, and mystery.

6. Extra Pick - Totally New to You:
Moon Called by Patricia Briggs
I didn't see any Patricia Briggs on your bookshelves. She writes some of the best urban fantasy out there, so I wanted to make sure to recommend the start of one of her series.

Yours Until Dawn by Teresa Medeiros Love in the Time of Dragons (Light Dragons, #1) by Katie MacAlister The Hunger Games (Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins The Spellman Files (The Spellmans, #1) by Lisa Lutz One for the Money (Stephanie Plum, #1) by Janet Evanovich Moon Called (Mercedes Thompson, #1) by Patricia Briggs

Rachel-RN (rachelgoodbyeborders) | 202 comments Hello Ann!

My picks for you are:
A: The Hunger Games: I recently read this book for last month's pick-it-for-me challenge and loved, loved this book. I see you have a lot of YA on your read and TBR shelves, but not this series. Give it a try:-)
B: Wicked Lovely We only have 4 books in common, this one being the only one I've read. It's a good one. Another YA.
C: Halfway to the Grave I see you have Twilight on your TBR. The series kicks butt. Enjoy!
D: Wildwood Dancing I've read everything else by this author except for her YA series. This has been on my TBR list for awhile.....
E:Gabriel's Ghost I tend to stay away from sci-fi, but I loved this! It's sci-fi romance and it rocked!
F:A Knight in Shining Armor This is the first historical romance book I read and loved. I see you have one book on your TBR list by her.

I think the book I most want you to read is The Hunger Games.

Wow, this is two challenges in a row I get to pick for the creator. I feel special! This is a cool idea and I'm glad I get to participate. The hardest part is limiting the choices to six. Here's hoping you like something on the list.

A. Trust Me by Jayne Ann Krentz. Easiest one as I didn't have to choose. I love JAK and it is high time you read something by her.

B. You have no TBR, so this is a new selection. Truly, Madly by Heather Webber. Great start to a new series that has everything - romance, mystery and paranormal.

C. Enchanted, Inc. by Shanna Swendson. Fun series where the fact that the heroine has 0 magic is what makes her special.

D. Wild Ride by Jennifer Crusie. I know you love her books and I love her books and yet neither of us has read this one.

E. Beyond Heaving Bosoms: The Smart Bitches' Guide to Romance Novels by Sarah Wendell. This was a bit harder as I read a lot of different genres, but not many guides. I'd say this is about 70% fun, 20% informative and 10% eh. But a great way to find out more about how romance novels have evolved (with lots of snark).

F. Goblin Quest by Jim C. Hines. This was runner up in category D. Somehow I got the impression you like fantasy and this is told from the point of a lowly goblin, which is a new take (at least for me).

The book I'm most hoping you will read is Beyond Heaving Bosoms as I'm interested in what your take on it will be.

Trust Me by Jayne Ann Krentz Truly, Madly (Lucy Valentine, #1) by Heather Webber Enchanted, Inc. (Book 1) by Shanna Swendson Wild Ride by Jennifer Crusie Beyond Heaving Bosoms The Smart Bitches' Guide to Romance Novels by Sarah Wendell Goblin Quest (Jig the Goblin, Book 1) by Jim C. Hines

Stacie H. (staciemh) | 3 comments Valerie (my fellow Sagittarius!),

I hope that you have fun with these!

1. 5 Star Book:
Outlander by Diana Galbaldon. This is
a wonderful book that is a little dense in detail
but from looking through your favorites I think
that you would really like it.
2. TBR pick:
Visions of Heat by Nalini Singh.
Easy but fun PNR book. Ms. Singh is one of my top
favorite authors, and the Psy-Changling series
gets better and better.
3. New to You:
The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien.
You seem to enjoy classic and popular literature,
and this was one that I did not notice of your
shelves...it is absolutely a must read!
4. Book I haven't gotten to yet:
Deeply, Desperately by Heather
Webber. I noticed this one on your TBR shelf, and
it is part of a series that I have been wanting to
try.
5. Surprise pleasure:
Déjà Dead by Kathy Reichs. You seem
to like diversity, so here is a little more! This
book combines mystery, crime investigation, and
forensic anthropology. It is the first in the
series of books that is the basis of the TV series
Bones.
6. Extra Pick:
Halfway to the Grave by Jeanine
Frost. I did not notice any Cat and Bones books
on your shelves, so I am recommending the first one
to you. It is a fast paced urban fantasy with great
characters.

Though I really like them all, my top pick for you would be Outlander.

Enjoy!
Stacie

Gloria, I think I have some books you might enjoy.

A. Last great book you haven't read: The last book I read and gave 5 stars to (a rare rating for me) was The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams Lots of fun and a great time.

B. TBR: I've read a couple of your TBR books. The one that I liked the most has to be Lover Eternal by J.R. Ward. It took me until partway through the second book to really start digging the series. But I'm on the release list now for the new ones coming out. Love it.

C. New to You: You have several fantasy books listed. You don't seem to have any aversion to epic SF books either. I thought the first book in this series was decent, but others have a tendency to go crazy for it. I'll recommend it in the hopes that you love it and I'll go back and re-read it and end up loving it too. A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin

D. Sounded good to me: This was picked for me last month and I had to read a different book as it didn't come in in time for me to read. But I keep hearing good things about it. It also qualifies for the YA portion of the monthly challenge if you do that one as well The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.

E. Not the normal cup of tea: I'm not normally a horror reader. But a couple of years ago, a friend gave me It by Stephen King. It gave me bad dreams and made me hate clowns all over again. It was also so good that I burned through the whole thing in a day. I see that you like King and haven't listed this yet, so you might want to give it a try.

F. Second place but still great: Another book that was recommended to me that I read that I really enjoyed is Morrigan's Cross by Nora Roberts. I'm currently reading the second book of the trilogy. Wizards, guns, vampires, doors between worlds, it's got it all. The doors between worlds might be reminiscent of the Amber series you seem to like so much (so did I for that matter). Good series and good writing.

The book I'm most hoping you pick is The Hunger Games. I'm planning on reading it this month too. The more the merrier!

Hope there is something here you like.

Penney (pschoener) | 3553 comments Hi Debbie! Here we go...

A. 5 Star Read: Passion by Lisa Valdez, This would also work as a surprise pleasure for me b/c I really didn't think about it one way or the other. Then I started reading it and realized it was just as much erotica as historical and I wasn't sure how that would be, but then....surprise!

B. From Your TBR: Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost, of the books on your TBR that I've read, this is the one that I gave 5 stars and loved.

C. New to You: The Unsung Hero by Suzanne Brockmann, I think this was recommended to me in a pick-it challenge and I noticed you like Catherine Coulter so I thought you might enjoy Brockmann's Troubleshooter series as well.

D. I've Been Wanting to Read: The Mane Event by Shelly Laurenston, most of the books on my TBR that I'm really looking forward to reading are books that come later in a series. However, I continuously come across this one and wonder why I haven't read yet. I'd really like to :)

E. A Total Surprise Pleasure: Comfort Food by Kitty Thomas, this is a bit of a controversial choice. I actually gave this book a deserving 5 stars but it wasn't necessarily a "pleasurable" book. It was unique, thought provoking and a bit disturbing. It goes deeper into BDSM to focus on the psychological effects of slavery. Very interesting read.

F. One of Many Other Choices: The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley, This was a very hard choice because there are so many more books that I'd like to recommend. But this one really sticks with me because, yes, it's a historical romance, but it is way beyond the norm. You'll see this one on a lot of lists because it's just that good!

The hardest part of this whole thing is deciding on a Top Pick. If I really have to choose just one I'd go with Passion simply because of all the choices it's the one I most recently read. (Second runner up would be Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie)

Debbie (db_debber) | 2757 comments Hey Tania - welcome to GoodReads
If you have any questions, just let us know. Here we go.....

A: The most recent 5 star that I enjoyed was Maybe This Time by Jennifer Crusie, a supernatural romance.

B: I see you have started the Carpathians series, I think you should continue it (one of my favorite series) with Dark Desire by Christine Feehan.

C: So much to choose from since you have just started.... I am going with Dark Lover by J.R. Ward (another of my favorite series).

D: I have had Deeper by Megan Hart on my own tbr for quite some time and seeing it on yours, well I might have to pick it up soon too.

E: Out of a different genre, since we both have a lot of romance, and pnr, I went with more of a mystery: Real Murders by Charlaine Harris

F: out of the new to you category and the 5 stars from me category ..... The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen. She is one of my favorite authors and while I really enjoy all of hers, this is the most recent one that I have read.

You are so new to GoodReads that I hope some of these are new to you and not just because you haven't had time to add them to your library yet.
What I most want to see you read ..... Maybe This Time

Ez (ezrah-rah) | 387 comments Hi, Jess!

A. Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen - Austen is one of my favorite authors and this is my favorite book by her after “Pride and Prejudice.”
B. Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen - This was probably my favorite book from 2009. I liked it a lot, and they’re currently working on a movie for it.
C. War for the Oaks by Emma Bull - I saw that you have some fantasy on your shelves, but you haven’t read this book yet. It’s urban fantasy and it’s one of my favorite books ever.
D. Kamikaze Girls by Novala Takemoto - I noticed that you like Japanese-related stuff, like manga, and I watched the movie version of this and really liked it. I’ve been meaning to read it myself for a while.
E. Size 12 Is Not Fat by Meg Cabot - This is chick-lit and normally I’m not a fan, but I read this for a challenge a few days ago and I really enjoyed it.
F. A Hunger Like No Other by Kresley Cole - This is the first novel-length book in Cole’s “Immortals After Dark” series. The first story in the series is a novella, but you can read this beforehand. The IAD is one of my favorite paranormal romance series right now. I highly recommend it!

Hmm…out of all of these I suppose the one I hope you pick is “A Hunger Like No Other.” It’s not my favorite in the series, but it’s good and hopefully you’ll want to continue with the series. KC writes great characters and hot heroes. Currently the series is up to book #10 with #11 coming out in February.

Oh my, what a great set of recs Penney, thanks. I will have to think on this (and see if I can get my hands on them). I am leaning towards Passion, but will of course have to find it first. They may all end up in the tbr though.
Thanks :)

Desperado (lethallovely) | 822 comments Becky,
(FlibBityFLooB, I hope you don't mind me borrowing your format for the categories.)

1. My last 5 star book that you haven't read: Kindred by Octavia E. Butler
It's very rare for me to give a book 5 stars but I lucked out recently. This was actually a book I was recommended in the August PIFM challenge & I ended up loving it! I feel stupid for putting off Butler for so long!

2. Your TBR list: Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder
This was one of my first challenge books when I became a member of GR. I'd heard so many good things about it that I just had to give it a try. This is just the book for you if you enjoy supernatural YA books with action, romance & adventure.

3. Totally New to You: Angels' Blood by Nalini Singh
I love, love, love this series! The heroine is so far from TSTL, it's admirable. And the hero is...well he's a hot, powerful archangel. What more is there left to say?

4. A book I want to read but haven't read yet: Beast by Judith Ivory
So far, I've only read two books by Ivory but I'm already in love. She is an amazing author IMO & I don't know why I haven't read more by her yet. I guess it's just laziness, since it's hard to find her books unless your rummaging through the shelves at the UBS.

5. Surprise Pleasure for Me: Queen of Babble by Meg Cabot
I hate chick-lit & I usually stay away from it like the hot guy in class with a cold sore. But I decided to give Cabot's book a try & boy am I glad I did. I've since read the whole series & it's exceeded my expectations of how enjoyable the right chick-lit book can be.

6. Extra Pick - Totally New to You: Once an Angel by Teresa Medeiros
In my opinion, this book is freaking amazing. I love most of TM's historical romances but this one has me crying every single time I read it-which has got to be over a dozen. It is so full of angst & love & humor. It's one of those books that made me envious of the characters & completely infatuated with them at the same time.

It was a very hard decision to make but the book I'm most hoping you'll pick is Once an Angel. I've been talking this book up to my friends ad nauseam-I'm sure they're sick of me by now- & I've managed to squeeze it into almost every PIFM challenge since I started participating in April.

Kindred by Octavia E. Butler Poison Study (Study, #1) by Maria V. Snyder Angels' Blood (Guild Hunter, #1) by Nalini Singh Beast by Judith Ivory Queen of Babble (Queen of Babble, #1) by Meg Cabot Once an Angel by Teresa Medeiros

message 165: by Tania (new)

Tania | 644 comments What fun! Here are my picks for #27 Tatiana...

A. Coming Undone by Lauren Dane
Even though this is #2 of the Brown Siblings story I actually read it before reading #1 so I don't think you'll miss anything by reading this first. The reason it got a 5 - more than any book I've read I completely fell head over heels for the Hero.

B. Broken by Megan Hart
Broken isn't my favourite of Megan Hart's works but she is on my "must read" list of authors. (oh, and my notebook of books to pick up has just been added too - thanks for the inspiration)

C. Dark Prince by Christine Feehan
You've rated quite a few vampire themed books highly so I thought I would introduce you to the book that got me over my "I don't like vampire books" stance.

D. The Darkest Hour by Maya Banks
This was actually a hard one to pick for me, mainly because there are no books out there I DON'T want to read. So I've selected one of the recent releases of one of my favourite authors that I can't wait to read instead.

E. Dogs and Goddesses by Jennifer Crusie and friends.
I normally don't like anthologies and usually hate books written with two or more authors with a passion. I find that they don't flow, are usually disjointed and that bad editing means that something that happened in one story line didn't happen at all in another story line etc. This was a surprise exception to that rule.

F. The Reluctant Dom by Tymber Dalton
This was actually the book I wanted to suggested for category A, but it missed out by a few days. Read it with a box of tissues nearby. But please read the book summary and reviews before reading to make sure you are comfortable with the topics it includes - informed reading choices; don't ya love it.

I don't particularly have a favourite choice for you to read because I think it's really going to depend on what sort of reading mood you're in at the moment and what sort of story lines you're comfortable in exploring. So I'm going to say Dark Prince because it changed my reading preferences forever.

Hope you enjoy.

Coming Undone (Brown Siblings, #2) by Lauren Dane Broken by Megan Hart Dark Prince (Carpathians, #1) by Christine Feehan The Darkest Hour by Maya Banks Dogs and Goddesses by Jennifer Crusie The Reluctant Dom by Tymber Dalton

~Sara~ | 667 comments Sabrina Fair:
I really enjoyed going through your bookshelves - you have fantastic taste in books and your TBR is huge(!!!) which gave me plenty to choose from :)

A. My latest 5 star read, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, is actually my favourite book (I just finished rereading it a few days ago) and is a quick, funny, fantastic read (it also has my all time favourite first line).

B. The book from your TBR that I think you should read is The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I see you read a fair bit of mysteries and this is the best one I've read in a long time. It's a fairly long book and the beginning is a little slower but it goes by fast, especially once the two main characters meet.

C. A totally new to you book that I would recommend is Nerd in Shining Armor. There is a whole series of nerd books but this one was my favourite. It's a comedy/romance/thriller all in one.

D. A book from my TBR that I think you should read (and is also in your TBR) is Storm Front. I just picked it up from the library today and, having heard so many people talk about the series, I'm excited to see what the hype is about. I'd be interested to see if our ratings are similar.

E. My surprise pleasure that I would pick for you is Magic Bites. I've read a bunch of Urban Fiction lately that I didn't really like and was beginning to think I wasn't into the genre (I tend to like more romance with my paranormal) but this series changed my mind. I'm on the third book and the series keeps getting better and better.

F. My extra pick is Preludes and Nocturnes. You've read a bunch of other Gaiman and this series is my favourite by him. I'm not sure if you've ever read any graphic novels or if you'd be willing to but this is a great place to start.

The book I hope you read is The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy because, like I said, it's my favourite. I would be happy with any of them though, I just hope that you like whatever you choose as much as I did!

Dark Desire - Dare to read - Carpathians challenge
Maybe This Time
The Girl Who Chased the Moon

Miss | 330 comments Hi Stacie,

A.The last book that I rated five stars - Good in Bed by Jennifer Weiner - it was an amusing, touching book and very, very well written.

B.From your TBR list - Skinwalker by Faith Hunter - it is a very good UF book, the first in a series (can't wait for the third one to come out).

C.New to you - The Demon's Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan - this book was such a surprise for me, it is a YA but so well written and the ending was a shocker and very touching (it was my favourite read of the year before i read pick E).

D.A book I have wanted to read - Blood Rites by Jim Butcher - I've always wanted to read the Dresden files, I just know they will be great, so i was saving them for when i felt like i was in a rut reading-wise.

E.A book that was a surprise pleasure - The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss - i like epic fantasy, i just don't read it that much, also the cover and the blurb for this one were not that appealing to me, but i saw the great ratings and reviews and decided to give it a try. Wow, it was maybe the best book i've read in years, if not ever!

F.The second spot choice - The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho - i know it's an over-hyped book, that's why i've been putting it off for years, but when i finally got around to reading it, i found it a very fast read, a really positive book. i believe it should be read by someone at the point in their life when they need some optimism, some inspiration. It may be even life changing for some people.

The book i most want you to read is The Name of the Wind, really i wish i was new to this book and was reading it again with a fresh heart... it's such a wonder!

Nairabell | 433 comments Hi Lili!

***Top Pick*** A. My last 5 star book that you haven't read:
Red-Headed Stepchild by Jaye Wells
This is an awesome UF with a real kickass heroine and a great set-up. I really enjoyed it, and I hope you will too.

B. Your TBR list:
I'm the Vampire, That's Why by Michele Bardsley
I saw you enjoyed the first two Queen Betsy books - this is the same kind of funny vampire story, but rather than shoes this has vampire PTAs. Very funny.

C. Totally New to You:
Sleeping with the Fishes by MaryJanice Davidson
This was a hard pick as your TBR is massive! However, you don't have the Fred books on there. They are great fun, similar to the Betsy books in some ways but different in others.

D. A book I want to read but haven't read yet:
Before I Wake by Kathryn Smith
This has been on my TBR for what seems like forever, and as awesome as it sounds I haven't had a chance to read it yet.

E. Surprise Pleasure for Me:
Graceling by Kristin Cashore
This was the first fantasy novel I read and really enjoyed. It has a storyline that keeps developing evenly throughout and great lead characters.

F. Extra Pick - Your TBR List:
Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
Another one off your TBR. I was expecting Vampire Academy to be just another YA, but it really hooked me in. Plus, it made my book phobic sister want to read :)

I hope there's something here you'll enjoy :)

Gigi | 1149 comments Hi Annie!

A. My latest 5 star read: Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. I couldn't put this book down. And if you choose this one, you should get the graphic novel afterwards which tells the story from Jamies perspective.

B. TBR suggestion: Bitten by Kelley Armstrong. I haven't read much on your TBR. I've heard good things about this book and its also on my TBR.

C. Totally new to you: The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley. This book was really good. I can't say enough about the hero. Definitely a must-read at some point.

D. A book from my TBR (well, I'm currently reading): Kiss of Midnight by Lara Adrian. I'm only up to chapter 4, but I'm enjoying the story so far. Usually, it takes me at least 8 chapters before a book sucks me in, but so far this book is pretty good.

E. My surprise pleasure: Cry No More by Linda Howard. I didn't think I'd like this book because I don't read much suspense. However, this book was really good, I mean really good!

F. My extra pick: A Knight in Shining Armor by Jude Deveraux or Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake by Sara MacLean. Sorry, I'm so indecisive! LOL Both books were very good. I found myself laughing out loud while reading Shining Armor. Nine Rules was a recent read about a wallflower who was doomed for spinsterhood- the book was really good and I found myself wanting to cry at certain points towards the end (shhh, dont tell anyone lol).

My overall pick for you: Ugh! This is a hard one. I guess I would pick The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley because Ian, for me, was like no other hero I've read about.

I hope you find something you like. If not, I will gladly pick again!

Happy reading!

Melanie (melaina) | 1339 comments FlibBityFlooB - Wow.. I had fun looking through your shelves!!!! I tried to pick books from your TBR for most of the books, and here are my recs:

A. Last 5* book Goddess of the Sea, which I just finished last night: it's a paranormal retelling of the Little Mermaid that I just loved, and the first book in PC Cast's Goddess series.. Definitely worth trying out if you like fairytales!
B. From your TBR Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake by Sarah MacLean was great! Funny, angsty, and everything you want: an aging spinster decides to turn her life around by asking for a kiss from a rake:-)
C. New to you Lord of the Fading Lands by CL Wilson is a book I feel compelled to recommend to everyone! It's a fantasy romance, first in a five book series which is one of the best I've ever read... A true soulmate love story where the King of the Fae finds himself soulmated to what seems to be an ordinary girl, Ellie, but who turns out to be anything but... Absolutely amazing!
D. Book I want to read but haven't A Kingdom of Dreams by Judith McNaught... After having read Whitney, I felt very reluctant to read another emotionally draining book by this author.. But I ended up reading Once and Always and really enjoying it.. And since KoD is apparently well loved, I'm bumping it up my TBR, and hope to read it in October... Hope it'll be a little less angsty than Whitney though!:-)
E. My Surprise Pleasure Hmmm... probably Passion by Lisa Valdez... I love HR, and enjoy erotica, but usually find that mixing one with the other doesn't always give a great plot.. Although the plot here wasn't the most complex, it was strong enough that I was tearing up at the end, and the sex scenes were very hot (although, gotta say, I feel for Passion's womb, lol)! This one was a 5* for me...
F. Second Spot Choice: TBR Either The Darkest Night or Fairest of Them All : The first is 1st in the Lord of the Underworld series (amazing PNR, and so worth reading!), and the second is one of my favorite Teresa Medeiros books, complete with a curse, mistaken identities, and turrets..

The one I wish you would read is Lord of the Fading Lands , although I loved all the ones I read and recommended here.. LoFL is just amazing (I can't repeat it enough!) and the fifth and last book is out in 31 days! Lol.. Can you tell I'm a fan?

Hope you find something you like and will enjoy! If you don't, let me know and I'll try again:-)

I hope you'll find something intresting here!

A. 5 Star Book: Bitten by Kelley Armstrong - I did quite a few rereads of my favorite books recently, quite a bit of them I rated with 5 stars, of course. This is one of them. The plot unfolds at steady, but not overly quick pace, characters are beautifully described. It's quite subtle, for urban fantasy novel. (Hah, I just noticed you recommended this book for Annie, too)

B. TBR pick: The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins - one of the best (YA) books I've read in years. A book I recommend everyone in my reach, hah...

C. New to You: One for the Money by Janet Evanovich - if you'd like to unwind, relax and just have fun this one is a good choice. It's a cozy mystery with a heroine that makes me laugh out loud.

D. Book I haven't gotten to yet: PS, I Love You by Cecelia Ahern - I heard lots of good opinions about the author, but still haven't read any of her books. I also heard that the movie didn't even comare to the book it was based on...

E. Surprise pleasure: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson - I inched toward this book for few months before I opened it. When I finally did, though, I haven't slept until I finished it. It was that good. I know that the hype about this author can be off-putting, but it's definitly worth it.

F. Extra Pick: Slave to Sensation by Nalini Singh - great series! The worldbuilding is rather different from anything I've read thus far, characters are vivid and love story - hot. And while I like second book in the series more than first, well...

The book I am most hoping you will read is... Bitten by Kelley Armstrong :)

Bitten (Women of the Otherworld, #1) by Kelley Armstrong The Hunger Games (Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins One for the Money (Stephanie Plum, #1) by Janet Evanovich PS, I Love You by Cecelia Ahern The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium, #1) by Stieg Larsson Slave to Sensation (Psy-Changeling, #1) by Nalini Singh

Happy reading!

Fran | 12278 comments Hi Lindsey!
We many books in common so I hope you find something you like!

A. 5 star read- My very latest 5 star read is in the middle of a series so here is my next one that happens to be the beginning of a series- Slave to Sensation by Nalini Singh. This book is fantastic, and I here they only get better- I can't wait to read the next one.

B. From your TBR- The Book Thief by Markus Zusak- have tissues handy- heart-wrenchingly good. Also You Don't Know Jack by Erin McCarthy- I saw you already read The Pregnancy Test and this is the next one with the same group of girls-very cute, light fun.

C. New To You- After Midnight by Teresa Medeiros- I noticed you have no Medeiros on your lists,I love her and this is a great PNR-1st in a two parter. Also Houston, We Have A Problem by Erin McCarthy- since you like her, this is such a cute love story btw two doctors. Loved the characters, very good.

D. Book I Want To Read- Mouth To Mouth by Erin McCarthy- haven't gotten to this one yet and I really like her. Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead- Heard such good things and this would fulfill the YA part of the Oct. challenge if you are doing it.

E. Surprise Pleasure- Undead and Unwed by MaryJanice Davidson- This is chick-lit PNR and this was the first one I have read in this genre. I really like the whole series- light, snarky, different for me. I have read several already. Also-Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins- my first YA read as an adult. PNR angsty teen read- girl witch sent to a boarding school for other-worldy beings. Also a mystery involved. Second book coming out in a few months.

F. Extra Pick- New To You- Mountain Dreams by Cheryl Holt- I just loved this contemporary love story- a great romantic book. Also-A Hunger Like No Other by Kresley Cole- the first in one of my fav series- hot PNR guys- love everything Kresley Cole writes!

The one I hope you read is Slave To Sensation (or The Book Thief) or ...so hard to decide! Maybe Mountain Dreams...

Jim- I hope you are not too upset with me for adding so many extra books- I am a Virgo after all!

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments hi ANGELIQUE

Here are some picks for you - hopefully there is something in here that you really like!

A - Last 5 Star - Some Girls Bite - this is one of the few books that I ordered the entire rest of the available series before I even finished the first book

B - TBR - Slave to Sensation - I love this series and hope you do as well

C - Totally New To You - Goddess of the Rose - a re-telling of Beauty and the Beast with an interesting ending

D - I want to read but haven't - Storm Born - I've heard really good things about this series but haven't read it yet

E - Outside Normal Genre - The Cookbook Collector - I read this book for a challenge in another group and so glad I did - not a romance, but a novel about living life to the fullest - the first 1/3 is a bit slow, but it def. gets better

F - Second Choice - Pleasure Unbound - with all the paranormal on your shelves, I can't believe you haven't read these ones...its the first of 5 books (the series is now complete) and there is a spin-off series that will be released next year.

The book that I hope you really read is Slave to Sensation but I wouldn't be upset if you only read Some Girls Bite either

Ann (annabell123) Morgan -

A. 5 star book - The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton. This book would have fit the surprise pleasure category too. It immediately drew me in and I would say it is probably one of my favorite books now.

B. TBR - Intertwined by Gena Showalter. I hadn't read any of the books you have in your TBR pile, so I just picked one that I think you will like, based on what you have rated 5 stars.

C. Totally New - The Secret Life Of CeeCee Wilkes by Diane Chamberlain. This book was sooo good! This is also one of my favorites. It is about an unsolved murder in which a pregnant woman was found, but without the baby. The whole story is about what happened that night and what happened to the baby.

D. Book I want to read - Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. I see that it is also in your TBR pile. I plan on reading it within the next couple of weeks.

E. Surprise Pleasure - Carnal Innocence by Nora Roberts. This book is not one I would typically read. It turned out very well though. This is a book I gave 4 stars.

F. 2nd Spot Choice - True Colors by Kristin Hannah. This is one of my favorite authors, and one of my favorite books. This book would be totally new to you and I have read it.

The book I'm most hoping for you to read is The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton. My second pick though would be The Secret Life Of CeeCee Wilkes by Diane Chamberlain. So if you have time, read them both! :)

Melissa | 1245 comments Sandy,
You don't give out many 5 stars and that is usually where I start tip toeing through bookshelves, so I am hoping I've come up with something you will enjoy.

A. Last 5* Book:Charming the Prince by Teresa Medeiros...This was the first book I've read by this author and have since bought many others by her at used book sales...This book is sort of a grown up fairy tale retelling, would be classified as historical romance

B. From Your TBR:Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater...This is definitely worth reading, it is a unique take on werewolves, the writing is fantastic and the story is enjoyable...I read a lot of YA books and this stands out as one of my all time favorites

C. New To You:The Spellman Files by Lisa Lutz...No mystery books on your bookshelves!?!?!...This book is mystery "lite", not a "traditional" mystery, lots of laughs, great characters, great writing, this is the first of four so far and they all top my favorite books of all time list

D. Book I Want To Read, Too:The Darkest Night by Gena Showalter...okay, I cheated, I saw you signed up for the Featured Author Challenge and chose this book...this is one that was just recommended to me this month here on the pick-it-for-me...I have read one or two Showalter books and loved them, her books seem to be fast reads...at least we'll both be reading it and will have someone to chat with about it

E. Surpised I Liked It:Castle of the Wolf by Sandra Schwab...this is not the type of book I usually read (historical romance), as a matter of fact, this book and Charming the Prince, which I recommended as well, are basically the only books like this on my bookshelves...I originally chose this book for a challenge because it was set in Germany...turned out to be a great read with lovable characters and some laughs

F. Second Spot Choice:Warprize by Elizabeth Vaughan...This is the first in a trilogy, the author has a new trilogy going set in the same time and place...this is sort of medieval fantasy romance (I never know how to classify this book)...I quickly fell in love with the characters, the writing and the story and this book is the one book I seem to recommend most to anyone who reads

Now, for the one I wish you would read...The Spellman Files...it is just one of those books that makes me smile when I think of it, I really think you'd enjoy it

Can't wait to see what you choose and how you like it!

message 181: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 1245 comments Ang...I think you did a great job on my picks...and thanks for being so quick! I was one who had to be reassigned last month so it was awesome to wake up and see I already had choices!

After looking them over, I have decided I am defintely going to read Pack Challenge. I saw this mentioned somewhere else here on goodreads and it caught my eye, but I didn't add it to my list. I will be adding it now!

I will also read The Darkest Night this month. I do like Showalter, I actually recommended this one to my pick-it-for-me person so we could read it together. This is one I've owned for a while so this will get me to just read it already!

I might read Dance With the Devil, but I was not impressed with the Dark Hunter's so far. I even erased them from my list because I gave up on the series. I do remember liking the character that is the main character in this one though so I might give this book a chance to change my mind.

I also gave up on the Succubus series. I didn't really like the first book and have no interest in trying them again since it's all the same characters. I don't like how she was struggling with which man she wanted.

I will definitely check out the Lorelei James series. If I wasn't such a control freak, I would read Branded As Trouble, but being book 6, I would really rather start from the beginning. If I can borrow a copy I will still give it a go, though.

Thank you for the recommendations and I will let you know how I like them!

KimKirt | 1638 comments GAIL! - Maybe Jim does have something up his sleeve with this pairing, first, I love Springsteen and had to smile at your avatar. Next, I'm a loan processor so our professions are close. The only thing, I don't read a lot of paranormal and that seems to be your favorite genre. Okay, on to your recs!!

A - My last 5 star book: Lover Awakened by J R Ward. It seems you've read most of this series but this one was not on your list. I LOVED Zsadist's story.

B - From your TBR: You don't have much on your TBR so I am recommending Covet by J R Ward. I have not read it, but it's on my TBR as well.

C - Totally new to you: Cry No More by Linda Howard. Linda Howard writes Romantic Suspenses. I loved this one.

D - I want to read but haven't: Deadly Fear by Cynthia Eden. Romantic suspense. I've not read anything by this author and this is on my TBR.

E - Outside normal read: Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. About a second rate circus. I hear they are making a movie out of this, but we all know books are better!

F - Other book you should read: Okay, I had trouble deciding so I'm giving you two choices in this category. You don't seem to read much contemporary romances so I'm picking two authors for you to try. Causing Havoc by Lori Foster. I enjoy Lori Fosters books, this series has been a good one for me so far, and My Sunshine by Catherine Anderson. Catherine Anderson writes the sweetest romances (not much sex, just sweet falling in love stories), this was one of my favorites by her. You don't have to read them in order.

Book from above I'd most want you to read: That would be Cry No More by Linda Howard. Since you have children, I think you would feel like I did after reading this (I walked around in a fog for a day).

Happy selecting! I'm looking forward to see which one you pick.

Kim

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 1190 comments This is for BJ Rose...I hope you find something that will strike your fancy - so here are your recs

5 STAR READ: The Weight of Silenceby Heather Gudenkauf...this was an awesome read - it was one of those books that sucks you & leaves you breathless after you finish reading.
YOUR TBR: The Sugar Queenby Sarah Addison Allen...I really enjoyed this book-it had suspense, the air of mystery & a little romance thrown in for good measure. Very enjoyable read
NEW FOR YOU: Summer At Willow Lakeby Susan Wiggs...this book is by one of my fav authors, it is a nice romance with an of air of mystery thrown into this one as well.
I WANT TO READ BUT HAVENT: The Searchby Nora Roberts...usually her books get a lot of thread time but this one has been rather quiet but I love Nora so I will read eventually.
OUTSIDE NORMAL READ: Halfway to the Graveby Jeaniene Frost...this one was recommended to me for a pick challenge as it was something out of normal read I wasnt sure if I would like it & surprise to me I loved it. I loved this book that I have read all in the series & I am now waiting for the release of the next book.
OTHER BOOK YOU SHOULD READ: Storm Frontby Jim Butcher...I love this series as well so it was hard to pick which one to put above.
MY PICK FOR YOU: The Weight of Silence...this is such a gripping book. It sucks you in & doesnt let you go. It is definitely worth the time to read. I dont give 5*s out very often so for this one to earn that from me is saying something. I hope if you dont pick this one & you decide to choose something else you will pick this one up at some point.

BJ, I hope you enjoy your picks. Cant wait to see what you have chosen from your recs. Good Luck & Happy Reading....

SandyC (sandyc88) | 1287 comments Jim, thanks for your hard work on this, and I love the new rules!

Hello, Harper! (Did you know we share the same birthday as Vivien Leigh?)

I am happy to make recommendations for you this month.

A. Five Star Book: I am very selfish with my five star ratings. The last book I gave 5 stars to is Voyager. Since I already know how you feel about the Outlander series (at least for now!), I will recommend The Book Thief by Markus Zusak instead.

B.TBR: The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood is a disturbing dystopian novel that I know you will really enjoy!

C. New to You: East of Eden by John Steinbeck is one of my rare 5-star reads. I absolutely loved it. The writing is incredible. It's a long book, but moves quickly.

D. We Haven't Read: Covet by J.R. Ward. I am planning to read this in October. You have had your ups and downs with the BDB, so let's try this one!

E. Surprise Pleasure: OK, I'll admit it, romance novels really aren't my "thing." I tried out Mine Till Midnight by Lisa Kleypas as part of the Pick It For Me Challenge and I really liked it! I am planning to read other Kleypas books for future challenges.

F. Second Place: I think you will enjoy Frostbite (Vampire Academy, #2). You gave Vampire Academy 3 stars, and the subsequent books are much better in my opinion. I read the last 3 in 5 days in September and I am going to pre-order Last Sacrifice.

My top pick for you is The Book Thief. Hope you have a fun month of reading!

message 188: by Becky (last edited Sep 30, 2010 07:34AM) (new)

Becky (beckysbusyreading) | 258 comments ARI What a great birthday you have!

A. Soulless by Gail Carriger
I read this last month in September's PIFM Challenge. I really enjoyed it and was different from anything I have read. It has a steam punk theme which includes werewolves, a foppish vampire, a crazy hat wearing friend, and a parasol wielding spinster that makes the combination hilarious.

B. It Happened One Autumn by Lisa Kleypas
Lisa Kleypas is one of my favorite authors and I would recommend most of her books to anyone. This is the second book of her Wallflower Series the first being Secrets of a Summer Night.

C. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
This is a time travel book and an amazing romance.

D. City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
I have seen this book recommended all the time and have read reviews to how good it is.

E. The Host by Stephanie Meyer
I saw you read and liked her Twilight series so I think you would like this as well. When I read it I was truly surprised to how good it was, I almost like it better than the Twilight series it was that good.

F. My Sweet Audrina by V.C. Andrews
I first read this book when I was in middle school, then one day I was looking at used books and came across it again and just had to buy it. It is a dark and twisty tale of a young person trying to figure herself out and parents who are really off their rockers. It's great!!

Book I recommend The Host
It is sci-fi that doesn't feel to much sci-fi and has a lovely romance entwined.

Second Recommendation Soulless just because it is October and to get into the theme of the Halloween month.

I hope you enjoy one of the recommendations if not I am happy to pick something new. Happy Reading.

message 189: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments Hi Megan!

We have a lot of books in common so I really hope you find somethere you like. I tried to give you a range of genres...

A. 5 Star Read: Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase or The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. I give very few 5 stars (so far I've only given one this year and that was to Monte Cristo) but as I feel bad recommending a book with 1000+ pgs., I also included another of my favorite, favorite romances, which you happen to have on your TBR.

B. From your TBR: Pleasure Unbound by Larissa Ione. I loved this book - the setting was new and interesting and the hero was such a genuinely good guy (difficult to believe because he's a demon.)

C. New to You: The Tea Rose by Jennifer Donnelly. I was tempted to go with a genre you don't read much but knowing from your profile that you are a 'sucker for romance', I went with this choice which is historical fiction with a big dose of romance. I loved this book even though it broke my heart at times.

D. Want To Read It But Haven't: The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen. We both loved Garden Spells and I'm planning to read this for the monthly challenge (set in NC!)

E. Surprise Pleasure: Sword of Darkness by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I read pretty much everything so I wasn't sure what to suggest for this...so I went with a book that languished on my TBR for a looong time. When I finally picked it up earlier this year, I could not believe how much I liked it! A surprise pleasure indeed.

F. Second Choice: It Had to Be You by Susan Elizabeth Phillips or Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake by Sarah MacLean. Couldn't decide between these too. I'm recommending the SEP because it's a really great book and I thought you needed a contemporary romance to round out this list. But I've been dying to read NRtBWRaR and couldn't stop myself from recommending it!

Now regarding the top pick...I loved all these books in one way or another (at least the ones I've read!) so I'll try to recommend something based on mood. If you want:
- A good romance with some lighhearted moments:Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase
- To cry your eyes out:The Tea Rose by Jennifer Donnelly.

Ceej (drqangel) | 1015 comments Thenia,

I'm not so sure the logical follows for us because our preferences are like night and day (literally). Looking at your TBR, I see you like vampires and dark things. I am more of a warm and fuzzy kinda chick though no one who knows me would believe it lol *drum roll* The picks are.....

Memoirs of a Geisha There were no matches on your list that I have read. So I chose the next best thing, movies I've seen and would rate highly. I hadn't wanted to see this movie but a friend of mine forced me to watch it with her one Saturday and I'm glad she did. It's now a permanent fixture in my movie library. It's my experience the books are better than the movies.

Practical Magic Again I had to take the next best option.

Catch A Mate I read this book a couple months back for one of the challenges and thoroughly enjoyed it. I even considered the viability of the business described. It's funny and the characters are well developed.

The Darkest Night After reading Catch A Mate, I searched Gena Showalter and put the Lords of the Underworld series on my radar.

I can't choose which one I want you to read more. I'd love for you to read Catch A Mateto add some levity to your list but I think you'll enjoyThe Darkest Night more.

message 191: by Gloria (new)

Gloria (gloriastz) | 25 comments Hello Sallie,
these are my picks for you, I hope you like them :)

A. 5 Star Read - The last 5 star book I read was Succubus Blues by Richelle Mead. I really like Richelle's books and that book have everything - intrigues, laugh, fun... I don't know if you like that kind of books, but if yes, you'll definitely like this.

B. From your TBR - I'll recommend you Frostbite (Vampire Academy, #2) again by Richelle Mead. Vampire Academy series are one of my favorite and I see that you gave 4 star rating for the first book... I'll tell you, that the more you read, the more interesting the story become, you should try to read the next books in the series!

C. New to You - My choice here And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie. I really enjoy criminal books because just when you think that you know who the murderer is, you get caught by surprise and see who genius is the main character. Agatha Cristie is one of my favorite authors and I like every her book, that I read.

D. Want To Read It But Haven't: Night Myst by Yasmine Galenorn - I see that you marked this book as TBR, me too. I'm looking forward to reading it, because the story of Cicely sounds interesting to me.

E. Surprise Pleasure - Mhm that's a little bit difficult for me... I thought you'd like East of Eden by John Steinbeck. It's one of the classic books, that I read and enjoyed. The story is interesting and definitely is a book, from whom you can learn many things.

F. Second Choice: Dear John by Nicholas Sparks. I really love books by Sparks, because they represent a real life stories. I don't know if you watch the movie, but the book is way more better! I saw you read other Nicholas Sparks' books and I hope you enjoy this!

Wow that was it (it was a little bit difficult for me, because I never participate in Pick-It-For-Me challenge before, but I should admit it, that i like it). My top pick is Dear John... Others are great too, I really like them, but that was the story, that leave a profound imprint on my heart...

Tatiana (tatiana_g) Hi Nairabell!

My list for you. Wherever I could, I picked books that are already on your TBR, so that you don't feel constrained by the books totally new to you.

1. My latest 5 star - Villette by Charlotte Brontë - I can see from your shelves you are not very keen on classics, but I have to follow the rules...

2. A book on your TBR that I've read and think you will enjoy - Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick - you seem to like YA paranormal romances - Shiver, Fallen - fans of these books tend to enjoy Hush, Hush, hope you will too.

3. A book that is totally new to you that I think you will like and that I have read and enjoyed - Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning - one of my favorite UF series.

4. A book that I have wanted to read but have yet to read, from your TBR - Sunshine by Robin McKinley - I might join you to read this one in October, I love the author and have been planning to read this novel for a while.

5. A surprise pleasure, something outside my normal reading that I read and enjoyed - The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson - crime novels is not the genre I normally pursue, but I was pleasantly surprised by this one.

6. A book on your TBR that I've read and think you will enjoy - second choice - Real Murders by Charlaine Harris - you have read and liked this author before, maybe you will like this mystery series of hers too. I did.

The book that would be my first choice for you and the one I think you will enjoy the most, based on your reading preferences, is Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick.

If you don't find anything appealing here, please let me know and I will work harder to find something better for you.

Tania,

Thank you for your suggestions. Straight romances and erotica are not really my thing (as you can probably see from my shelves), but I'll try to venture out.

1. Raised by Wolves - Jennifer Lynn Barnes
– It’s in your TBR list and I just read it for one of September’s challenges. It’s got mystery, werewolves, headstrong heroine that has an attitude and I think it’s pretty well written.

2. Dead Until Dark - Charlaine Harris – If you’re watching True Blood, you should know that it’s very different than the books which are focused on Sookie – a girl with the ability to “listen to thoughts”.

3. Some Girls Bite - Chloe Neill – A book about Merit – scholar and recently made vampire without her consent. It’s got a little bit of everything – humor, romance, action – and it’s the first book of one of my most favorite series.

4. Strange Angels - Lilith Saintcrow– I’ve been meaning to read that one for quite some time but I still haven’t gotten around to it. Maybe you could read it and tell me what you think?

5. Tigana - Guy Gavriel Kay – This is a fantasy book and for some reason not something I usually read, but I loved every page of it! It’s beautifully written, has multilayered characters and its world is expertly created.

6. Pride and PrejudiceJane Austen – This one is a classic that every woman should read at least once in her life in my opinion. Parts of it may annoy you, but it’s definitely worth it.

I’m hoping you’ll read “Some Girls Bite” by Chloe Neill! I noticed that you like paranormal books and I think you’ll like it. Also, like I said, it’s one of my favorites so I’m kind of “spreading the love”!

Whichever you pick, enjoy!

Raised by Wolves (Raised by Wolves, #1) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes Dead Until Dark (Sookie Stackhouse, #1) by Charlaine Harris Some Girls Bite (Chicagoland Vampires, #1) by Chloe Neill Strange Angels (Strange Angels, #1) by Lilith Saintcrow Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

Jim, great job organizing the challenge!

Loved the new rules…makes us think/choose a little more! Way to go!

Hi Kim,
Here are your recs! Hope you find something that you really like! Happy reading!

A: Vision in White by Nora Roberts. This book is the first of the Quartet series. Loved all of them…the last one comes out this year!
B: Too Much Temptation by Lori Foster. I loved this book because its Heroine is not perfect…and the Hero wants her anyway! Plus Lori Foster is one of my favorite authors and would recommend most of her books!
C: The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. I was pleasantly surprised that I liked this book. I had read a lot of the reviews and was drawn to it. I liked it so much that I read his second book A Thousand Splendid Suns. Both books are about how different people’s lives are from different parts of the world. Very unique!
D: The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs. Bought this book from the “Friends of the library” at my library for a $1; have had this book for a few months now. I guess it might be time to read it!
E: Twice Loved by Lori Copeland. This Christian Fiction was recommended to me by my Aunt a few years ago. I have never read anything like it, but it was good! It is still a romance but a sweet one! And since I am a sucker for any series…this one was the first out of the three that I read!
F: Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake by Sarah Maclean. This is one of my recent faves! It was part of my “Summer” challenge; I couldn’t put it down. I read it in one day…plus it was due back at the library!! The second one of the series Ten Ways to Be Adored When Landing a Lord comes out at the end of October! I can’t wait!

Strongest recommendation: Too Much Temptation or Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake..sorry couldn't make up my mind! :)

Leah actually three of these books will be read. Covet is in my RMN challenge list and I have to read It Happened In Autumn so I can read Devil in Winter for my Covers challenge. Lover Mine I won't commit to because the library can't seem to get me a copy. I am interested in The Hunger Games and Bargain With the Devil. All that said, Covet and It Happened One Autumn are definites. Then either The Hunger Games or Bargain with the Devil depends on which the library can get.

YAY! I'm jumping up & down, I'm so excited! None of my friends have taken my advice & given this book a go yet. And they "claim" to love me. *Lethal sobs* I really, really hope it doesn't disappoint you, Becky, or I'll be a sad chica.
