Lili | 343 comments Hey Sherri, loved your shelves!, I noticed you’re into PNR and you’ve read all of my favorite series so it was kinda hard to find something new for you but I think I managed. I will be looking into your shelves ‘cause I saw a bunch of books I want on my TBR but that’ll be later… all right!, here’s your recs for this month, check them out!

A. Beyond the Night by Joss Ware. I got to read this book for September’s pick it for me challenge and I really liked it!, it’s set in the future with a post apocalyptic theme and a bunch of weird looking characters.
B. How To Marry a Millionaire Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks. This a sweet story with a handsome vampire and a beautiful dentist.
C. Just the Sexiest Man Alive by Julie James. If you want to try something a little bit different this is a contemporary romance featuring an actor with a giant ego and an up-tight lawyer, I laughed a lot with this one.
D. Halfway to the Grave by Jeanine Frost. This book has been in my TBR for a while, if it’s half as good as the Dark-Hunter series then it’ll be great, maybe we should follow Jim’s advice and read it together… let me know if you pick this one.
E. PS, I Love You by Cecelia Ahern. Oooowwww… Gerry Gerry, if you liked the movie, you’re gonna looooove the book. Yes, it’s a sad thing about him passing away but I think the message he left Holly is wonderful… hand me a tissue will ya? *sniffs*
F. Some Girls Bite by Chloe Neill. This book is supposed to be really good… if you read it, I’ll read it too.

Sorry for the delay… I swear I didn’t forget, it’s just that life has been crazy this week!
I hope you find something you like, if not, let me know and I’ll write another list… happy reading!!

Angelique Anderson | 182 comments Hey Sue,

Sorry it took so long to get my recommendations posted. My Grans b-day was yesterday and my dad's is today so I haven't really had the chance to sit down and do this.

A. Elizabeth's Wolf - I love Lora Leigh, and even her not-so-great books are favorites of mine, but this book truely got to me. It was just such a beautiful love story with a Hero that you can't not love. But be forewarned Lora writes erotica.

B. First Drop of Crimson - I loved the Night Huntress series, and this book was a great spin-off in my opinion. I mean how can you not love Spade?

C. Full Moon Rising - So I'm usually not into futurist stories, but I read this one for a challenge and fell in love with it. It was really suspensful and I enjoyed the characters and all of their many flaws.

D. City of Bones - I enjoy some Ya literature and this book is one I've be dying to get to. Everyone keeps raving about it, so maybe you'll enjoy it as well.

E. Ella Enchanted - I really hate Cinderella type stories. I was Beauty and Beast girl growing up. So when someone gave me this book it wound up lost in a pile of books I never intended to read, but then I ended up having to read it for a book challenge and it's now one of my favorites.

F. Me and My Shadow - I love Katie MacAliter's Dragon series and it seems as though you do as well. I just can't believe you haven't read the last book in the Silver Dragon Series!

I hope there's something in this list that you'll enjoy as much as I did. Elizabeth's Wolf was my favorite, and It'd be my top pick if I were you. Happy reading!

Angelique Anderson | 182 comments Dee,

All your suggestions look amazing. And quite a few are at the top of my to-read list. I've been on the waiting list at my library for Pleasure Unbound and Slave to Pleasure for several months now. So if I get lucky and one or both of those come in this month, you can bet those will be the ones I choose. I might own Some Girls Bite, I'll have to check my library, if so I'll read it as well. But I have to thank you most of all for recommending Goddess of the Rose (I'm a sucker for Beauty and the Beast Stories), if I don't get the chance to read it this month, I will get to it in the near future.

Tania | 644 comments Status Update: Read 1/6 Enjoyed 1/6

Picks made by Debbie.

2/10 Well I've just finished Dark Lover and it was great! It took me a while to get into but by the end I began to like the characters (and got used to the authors writting style). In someways it reminded me of Dark Prince, mainly because I think it's a book designed to set up a long term series not to be read as a stand alone book. It didn't have the depth and richness of the Carpathians but that may come as the series progresses. Oh, and my favourite character - Z, I'm really hoping he gets his own book at some stage.

I think I'm meant to read Dark Peril next for another challenge but two vampire books in a row might be a bit much so I'm going to skip to Maybe This Time. Crusie's always good for a laugh.

Having trouble getting my hands on Deeper stupid ebook publishers and their international rules mean I can't source it as an ebook. I can get other books of her's (and have) just not that one. Grrrrrrrrr.

Sue (knitwitsl) | 226 comments Diane,
So sorry I'm a bit late on this! No excuses from me and onward with your recommendations!

A. The Time Traveler's Wife - I really enjoyed this book even though it was quite emotional for me! There are a lot of other books that I've rated rater high and finished later than that, but you've read most of them!

B. Slave to Sensation -This is a great start to a really good paranormal series. I buy the newest one of this series the moment it comes out!

C . In Her Shoes - I like this author a lot and judging by some of the books you've read I think you'll like this book as well.

D. Saving Fish from Drowning - I saw this author speak and since then I've really wanted to read the book. I'm not sure why I haven't, but maybe this will give me a good push. I liked her other book and do look forward to reading this one!

E. Atonement - Lately I seem to read most all paranormal books. This book is outside that and a very interesting read. I think they made a movie of it, but I'm not sure.

F. The Awakening - This is on your TBR pile and I found it to be a very interesting book. It's a teen book, but I still found it quite interesting.

Of all of these books, the best I think is "Slave to Sensation." It's a great series of books!!

Thanks for the recommendations! I wanted to try "Elizabeth's Wolf," but my library doesn't have it and it's a bit too much from Amazon. But I put it on my wishlist! Glad you liked it, yes it does get a lot more depth as the series rolls. Z does have his own and a novella too. I also love the Carpathians and have to say that Dark Peril is pretty good - enjoy. You only need to read 1 of my recommendation to consider yourself done on this challenge, but if you want to read the rest, go for it I obviously thought they were good.

message 313: by Lindsey (new)

Lindsey (mammalynz) | 50 comments Rachael # 40
here goes! my gosh you have tons of TBR's!

A. 5 star rating
I am going to have to Recomend Born of Night it is the first of a series, I loved this first one especially, Nykyrian is one of the Yummies... Or, Playing with Fire Gena Showalter is an amazing Writer, and this book was fun and interesting and kept me turning pages!

B. Your TBR that I loved!
I am recommending Just For Kicks, this is actually the second in the series and the one i liked the best however,Skintight is also wonderful and it is the first in the series... also if you like these Hot & Bothered is my favorite Susan Anderson book...

C. Totally New Pick
There are so many of these that I think you might like but I will try to limit myself...
so my first pick would be A Perfect Darkness this is a really good series so far and this is her first published book... pretty dang good for a first if you ask me... Or, since you don't have any Dean Koontz on your list I would suggest Intensity

D. New to us both
Vampire Academy I got this rec last month and REALLY want to read it, I have heard so many good things about it and I know that the other Recs made with this one were great!

E. Surprise Pleasure
I would never have Picked out The Handmaid's Tale for myself however yet again it was a previous rec and I really liked it, it made me think ALOT and I continue to think about it at the most bizarre times!

F. Second Spot of Pleasure!
The Awakening and The Struggle
yet another Previous Rec... (are you seeing a pattern?) I read this book, which is really two smaller books smooshed into one, in a few hours because I could not put it down... I then Made a very Unscheduled trip to Target to get the next one then the next day went again to get the Next Two! I think you might really like this series.

I am secretly hoping you will read The Awakening and The Struggle or one of the Susan Andersen books.

So I know I went over my 6 recs butI am thinking you will find something that interests you and if not let me know and I will try a few more!

Pollyanna (polly8) | 300 comments Hi Kerste

I'm so sorry I'm late I completely forgot what day it was.

A. City of Bones by Cassandra Clare I loved this book and we seem to have similar taste so I am pretty sure you will love it too.

B. Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder Another book I really enjoyed, a bit slow to get into but it gets better.

C. Mark of the Demon by Diana Rowland This was a book I was actually recommended on a pick it for me challenge and I gave it 5 stars.

D. Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick A book I have been meaning to read for ages and I have heard a lot of good things about it.

E. The Bloody Chamber by Angela Carter I've picked this for you because this is something I had to read for uni and I really enjoyed it. It's out of my comfort zone because I am not really a fan of short stories but this was really fun to read.

F. This Charming Man by Marian Keyes A close second behind Hush Hush as this is another book I have meant to read and based on Marian Keyes other books, I am sure it will be a great read.

Hope you have fun with picking and enjoy :)

Thanks for the recommendations. I am going to read 3 of the 6.

1.A Hunger Like No Other by Kresley Cole...I have been wanting to read this book but never seem to get around to it. Interestingly I recommended this book to Melanie as one of her picks this month, too.

2.Atlantis Redeemed by Alyssa Day...I really love this series and just finished book 4 in September.

3.Hunting Season by Shelly Laurenston...I love Shelly Laurenston's books. They are always fun reads.

I haven't decided which of the other's I'm going to read. I really want to read your strongest recommendations but my library doesn't have either, so I need to make a trip to our used book store here. I'll let you know if they have either of those. If they don't, I'll probably pick the Nora Roberts one. Stay tuned!

Katherine (kebrand0112) Hi Sara,

Here are your recommendations:

A. Alice I Have Been by Melanie Benjamin This was a fictionalized biography of the girl who inspired Alice from Alice in W3onderland. It is based on records found about her,and was a very enjoyable read.

B. Lord of the Flies by William Golding

C. Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger This book is by the woman who wrote The Time Travelers Wife, which is on your TBR. It has elements from some of your shelves, and it was a really well-written book. :)

D. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee I have been meaning to read this book for years.

E. As She Climbed Across the Table by Jonathan Lethem This book is short, just over 200 pages, and I read it in one sitting. It's a very interesting book, not something I normally read.

F. Covet by J.R. Ward Second place for D.

I hope you can find something you want to read here, if not please message me and I will think up new recommendations.

Yea lets read The Friday Night Knitting Club together! I am about half way through Wicked Intentions so as soon as I am done with that I can start it!

Also have you tried asking if your library interloans books with other library's? Sometimes my library doesn't have a book, so I request it...if it's new enough they will buy it...if not then they interloan it with other librarys around our area!

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments hi Elise

Here are my picks for you - hopefully you'll like one of them

5-star read - one of my recent 5 star reads was Primal Passions, however, it is M/M and I know that isn't for everyone, so my other most recent was for a number 5 in the series, but I also gave book 1 5 stars - Pleasure Unbound

TBR
Naked in Death - I can't tell you how long I put off reading/listening to these books and when I finally did, ended up really enjoying them. I've been doing audiobook but I'm sure they are great being read as well

Totally New
Angel Warriors - I saw you have some paranormal on your shelves, this was an enjoyable read for me about angels saving the world and set in Detroit of all places...

Want to Read
Sarah's Key - this book has been sitting on my TBR for over a year now, but another of my groups is reading it and i'm going to try and finally get to it this month - maybe we can do it together?

Comfort Zone
The Cookbook Collector - to say I loved this book doesn't do it justice. It is also a recent 5 star read for me. The first 1/3 is fairly slow but it gets really good and emotional.

Second Spot
From your TBR - Slave to Sensation - I love these books, its a new take on the paranormal

If I had to pick 1 for you to read, I would love for you to read The Cookbook Collector, but if you can't get it (the wait for it at my library was nearly a month), then I hope you read Pleasure Unbound
